Thanx Level and Katy !

It was a good win. Steelers had us on the ropes into the third quarter.
Katy, did you happen to see how many Steeler fans were there today ? There was huge, larger than normal Steeler represtentation. Very cool fans in my section  and in the lot pre and post game.

errhhemm... you must excuse me.. I have a little business to take care of.

Well.......now that those useless human beings that make up the Patriot football team have won again........next come the Jets. Oooo......wow. Here's a thought.......since the Jets are obviously not going anywhere, and have nothing really to loose......how about they take the rumor of the Packers "hit squad", and make it a reality and systematically, and violently, end some Patriot careers. We all know the NFL won't really do anything but fine them. And since pro atheletes are all overpaid to start with.......they can afford it. And the humility would do the Patriots a lot of good. And I don't care about how good they are. They are good. No argument there. I am talking about them, as human beings. That's where the humility is needed.

First of all..... WTF do you know about the Patriots players as human beings ?
Nothing, you know nothing. You know them as football players. Not human beings.
Do you understand what a pathetic piece of protoplasam you come off as, preaching about humanity from one side of your mouth, while calling for some one's career to be ended ? Let alone the violent end you wish to see it thru ?

Hate the Patriots. I could not care less. But you feeble attempt to justify your superiority as a human being is ironic. Laughable at best.

And yeah, Raven, I know in your world my opinion means nothing. And the little run along comment to Katy was meant to dismiss. Well, that dog don't hunt in this thread. You posted in this thread a year or so ago. Same as tonight, hateful dribble. Why don't you try a new approach and actually try and have fun and enjoy the thread and .... here's a novel idea:

Contribute something intelligent.

That's a bit beyond raven's abilities -- you might have more success if you ask him to raise his game and contribute something that is merely moronic.

OO8OO88O8 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/9/2007 6:48:14 PM)

Here is the recap I posted on another board:

Ben really sucked as well, sure he didn't throw a pick, but he did not make the throws he had to make. He missed his receivers all day, overthrew Holmes by a mile on the fade route in the endzone. It was well-covered anyway, but he didn't even give Holmes a chance.

I feel bad for Parker and Holmes. Parker put possibly his most inspired effort out there tonight and it was wasted. Holmes practiced all week on a bad knee to be allowed to play.

I am wondering if there is more info out there on Polamalu's knee? Is he legitimately hurt or is he just nursing it at this point? Holmes played on an injury that causes people to miss months.

On to the defense:

Who showed up, at all? I thought Townsend actually played a decent game holding Stallworth in check. Did anyone else give a consistent effort? Harrison was held a lot, but was still a no show for most of the stats. Farrior and Foote missed a lot of tackles.

I think it was also either Farrior or Foote that also had a chance to make a play on Moss's short TD if they would have turned around and not instantly turn their back to the best QB in the modern age right of the snap.

Haggans?

The front 3 pushed the line backwards and stuffed Maroney whenever he tried, but they got little pass rush. I know they aren't supposed to, but it would be nice for Keisel to do something.

Other than Townsend, I just say that the secondary was a bunch of high school kids wearing Steelers' jerseys tonight.

I'm still irked stupidity of the secondary. The Steelers have arguably the best front seven in football and can stuff the run with no need of any secondary support. They never even need 8 in the box, they are that good against the run. The Patriots were also passing nearly every play and rarely even attempted to run the ball. So why did the Steelers' secondary bite on just about every play-action pass? Why they didn't trust the front seven to stuff any run and constantly bit the play-action is beyond me.

He's just mad because the power went out in his trailer park and it kept him from watching the game.

Like it or not the Pats are just steamrolling over everyone this season!
And Pittsburgh is a very good team!

Estring -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/9/2007 10:37:59 PM)

Let's face it. The only team that will beat the Patriots this year will be the Patriots. And it looks like the only team left on their schedule that could possibly win if the Patriots implode would be the Giants. That's not alot to hang your hopes on.

Well said, mb. [sm=applause.gif]

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/10/2007 4:20:54 AM)

I am now free to admit that the Pats are studs this season.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/10/2007 4:25:58 AM)

It looks like the Texans weren't as foolish as some thought, picking DE Mario Williams with the #1 choice a couple of years ago. He's closing in on a double-digit sack total, and playing near a Pro Bowl level, while Vince Young and Reggie Bush....... aren't.  Of course, things can always change.

Katy, the Pats have a special team this year, one for the history books.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/10/2007 5:40:46 AM)

Congrats Level. I didn't get to see the Cowboys game yesterday, but saw the highlights last night. Amazing comeback win. Looks like maybe Romo IS worth all the $$ Jones invested in him.

And where is kittie ? Her Broncos blew out the Chiefs pretty tidily.

As for the Patriots, yep they are special this year. Still, I think they are beatable. *Probably* not by the three remaining teams, but in the PO we will < most likely > face at least one of the teams that gave us a run for our money. Our run game and defense is not as powerful as our offense and I have always been of the thought that defense wins championships. Sure, it looks like it was only the Ravens and Eagles that did that, but really Pitt and Indy are serious threats. PO time is different and the level of play will be much greater.  Our run game and defense is not as powerful as it once was, guys getting older etc, and I have always been of the thought that defense wins championships. I'm just hoping they have enough left in the tank to take it all the way.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/10/2007 6:13:29 AM)

Yep, you are right, defense and special teams as well, can make a huge difference in the play offs.  Whatever happens, the playoffs should be good this season.

LOL at myself. I repeated myself very nicely.

I love it, this is when the season turns insane.

caitlyn -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/11/2007 11:59:03 AM)

General ...

While probably in the huge minority ... I honestly don't see the Patriots as that much better then some of the other top teams. Obviously they are very good, and will probably be the favorite going in to the playoffs, but an objective opinion might be:

Six games against the Jets, Bills and Dolphins makes for a nice schedule.

Two big "signature" road wins, over the Colts and Cowboys, were against teams well under full strength.

Lately, some opponents have made the Pats look old, and a little slow. You have to wonder how they will look after three straight games against playoff level competition.

The last few year, being the "team to beat" has mostly been a recipe for getting beat.

ctrlaltdelete -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/11/2007 1:23:59 PM)

I am soooooo proud of my MIAMI DOLS (as you may notice, they are PHIN-less)!!

Way to go and secure the #1 draft pick when it really does not matter and no real difference makers are on the draft boards. I am beginning to wonder whether I nurture latent masochistic tendencies....

caitlyn -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/11/2007 1:49:44 PM)

Isn't Glen Dorsey from LSU a great pick for you ... a guy that can play tackle, and switch to end on passing downs?

What about Darren McFadden? Isn't your back an ACL guy?

Heck, if you don't want it, I bet Jerry Jones will give you the Cowboys' two #1's for that top pick. [;)]

ctrlaltdelete -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/11/2007 1:56:12 PM)

The Dols have more holes right now than my first sub's fishnets.

In absence of that franchise QB or eye-popping RB, the #1 pick is more meaningful for a team that is just one or two players away from a run at the Superbowl.

The Dols need to try and leverage their high picks into volume of picks and start plugging holes all over the place: an O-line that is a QB's best friend and not his executioner, a secondary that realizes the term "secondary" does not refer to their skill level, a couple of WR's to replenish the two we just pissed away (Chambers and Welker).

Anywho - every Sunday turns into me assuming the position and saying to myself "thank you sir, may I have another?"

caitlyn -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/11/2007 2:26:38 PM)

I hear ya ... the Dolphins have a lot of holes.

But ... they are last in the NFL in rushing yards allowed, and third from the best in pass defense, even though they don't have a great pass rush. A guy like Dorsey might help a bunch in both areas.

McFadden ... I don't know what that guy has to do, to get more notice. He plays in a conference with serious defenses, and faces eight guys lined up to stop him every week ... and he stays on the field. He should have won the Heisman, hands down.

Call Jerry ... he will give you Dallas' two #1's and Julius Jones, for your pick. Julius is a TOP back ... just ask him.[;)]
