But Wade Phillips' man-boobs come in a close second, right?

Dammit, Level. I sent you that pic of me from my cheerleading days, in confidence. I didn't think you were going to splash it all over the internet. [:(]

This one saddens me on many levels. Rodney has long been my fave Patriot, and I spent numerous hours defending him against all those  " dirty player " accusations.

Kinda like have Barry Bonds on your football team.

Ouch, mb. I'm surprised a lot more players don't get caught, though.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/31/2007 6:50:01 PM)

Please, just be grateful the NFL doesn't do doping controls like professional cycling.  That would be so ugly.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/1/2007 6:30:15 AM)

Human Growth Hormone is what he used, not steroids. The NFL doesn't test for HGH, but it is still a banned substance and he should have steered clear. According to his statement he used it post injury a few years ago to promote healing. I am just thankful he came out and admitted it, and didn't drag this thru the mud, like Barry Bonds, since it is a similar situation. No positive test for it, so no actual proof, just proof he bought it.

Looks like the first two on the block are Rodney and Wade Wilson, but from reports I have read this is a two year sting and there are many more names to come. Goodell will have his hands full with this one.

"To make a decision this bold requires some strong conviction, and I have that," said Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio said.

Katy, I was surprised at the Leftwich situation. Not so much that he's a terrific QB (he isn't), but Garrard stinks worse.

And Del Rio passed on Quinn the Eskimo, as well as picking up Daunte Culpepper. The Jags are going backwards.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/1/2007 11:08:51 AM)

Yep, but we'll always have Jack Del Rio in a suit, so all is not lost.  hehe

NEW YORK (AP) - Dallas quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson was suspended for five games by the NFL on Saturday for buying and using performance-enhancing substances.
Wilson, a 48-year-old former NFL quarterback, also was fined $100,000. He said he took the drugs to try to "improve the quality of my life" after living with diabetes for more than 20 years. He acknowledged he acted without "proper medical supervision."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wilson would return to his job after his suspension ends Oct. 9.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said both Wilson's suspension and the suspension Friday of New England safety Rodney Harrison stemmed from the investigation by the Albany (N.Y.) district attorney's office. Authorities there have been looking into an Internet ring involving performance-enhancing drugs and allegedly involving athletes from a number of sports

I am in no way defending or excusing Wilson or Harrison, let me be clear on that. But it boggles my mind that they were both foolish enough to use their real names when placign their on line orders. Hell, even Anna Nicole was smarter than that.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Charlie Frye will start at quarterback for Cleveland's season opener Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers
Frye, who started 13 games last year, entered training camp slightly behind Derek Anderson in the quarterback competition. But he outperformed Anderson during preseason games and directed one touchdown drive against the Denver Broncos. Anderson produced no touchdowns when he led the offense during preseason games.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars released oft-injured quarterback Byron Leftwich on Saturday, one day after announcing they planned to part ways with the former first-round draft pick.
The Jaguars had hoped to trade Leftwich, but also said they were prepared to release him in hopes of avoiding any locker-room problems stemming from his demotion.

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed right guard Kendall Simmons to a four-year extension on Sunday that could be worth as much as $24 million, a deal that makes certain they won't go into the 2008 season without both starting guards.

The deal secures Simmons through the 2011 season and guarantees him $7.85 million in new money. He was already set to make $900,000 this season, with a salary cap value of $1,435,664 to the Steelers.

TEMPE, Ariz. – When cornerback Eric Green reported for training camp with the Arizona Cardinals in July, he delivered a familiar punch line about this franchise. He talked about the team having a different energy and a new face. This, Green said, was the new and improved Cardinals.

It's the Cardinals' fourth new look in 12 seasons. And improved? Well, that typically turns out to be the annual joke.

"I really do think it's going to be different this time," general manager Rod Graves told Yahoo! Sports, just before training camp kicked off.

Poor Charlie, they are already booing him, gonna be a long season (until Brady replaces him).  Charlie Frye pool, anyone?  Bets on how long he lasts?

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/3/2007 11:28:12 AM)

Week 6, maybe? Crennell is on a tightrope....... put Brady in too early, get him shell-shocked, and turn him into another Joey Harrington, or sit too long with Frye, and lose your job.
