Big fucking deal...Do you think that by merely "saying" that he is precious out on the forums is going to rekindle the fire in his belly?  Wow, so Katy said that Brett is precious...That ought to make Tinsel Town stand and cheer.

Give me a fucking break...Look Katy, how many letters have you written to Brett informing him of your feelings?
How many times have you stood outside a cold stadium just waiting to catch a solitary glimpse of your hero?
When was the last time you snuck on the players bus and were passed around every hole gaping with appreciation, to thank the players for "leaving it all out there on the Frozen Tundra?"

"I already said that Brett is precious.".....Well latee fucking da.....You ungrateful spinster....You will die alone and cold.

I posted this on Myspace last year during the NFL Season and thought I would share it with all you other rabid NFL fans this year.  Enjoy!!

NFL Week 1 Preview

Can you feel it in the air?  The sights. The sounds.  The smells even!!  Sure, its the begining of the NFL season but better yet, it's the 1st week of my NFL Preview and Picks!!   Those of you who read this column last year will remember that I mix serious NFL talk with hopefully humorous insight.  And remember, don't get mad at me if your team doesn't win!!
Now, on to the 1st weeks picks!
Sep. 6, 2007 Thursday

New Orleans @ Indianapolis 8:30 PM ET   This game could actually have been a rematch of last years SB if NO had beaten Chicago but that was not meant to be.   Anyway, NO was the cinderella story last year lifting a city and much of the country on it's shoulder's and winning when just the year earlier they didn't even know if they would ever play in NO again.   Indianapolis, of course, went on to do what many thought they couldn't do and won the SB taking that "when are ya gonna win the big one" question away forever!   Strangely enought both teams probably will not be as good as they were last year but Indy will be good enough to win tonight in what could be a high scoring game.

Sep. 9, 2007 Sunday

Denver @ Buffalo 1:00 PM ET  Denver has a young QB in Jay Cutler who many think has the potential to be great.  And as always, they have a running game which nobody seems to be able to stop no matter who is running.   Buffalo is still probably a few years away from contending so give this one to the Broncos.

Pittsburgh @ Cleveland 1:00 PM ET  Mike Tomlin takes over as Head Coach at Pittsburgh but many of the players remain the same.  Ben Rothlesberger has something to prove after a sub par season last year.  Cleveland is young and may have a QB controversy the minute Charlie Frye throws his first INT.  This is a divisional game which Cleveland can't afford to lose but that's just what happens.  The Steelers win, possibly big.

Philadelphia @ Green Bay 1:00 PM ET Donovan McNabb has something to prove and when any athlete has something to prove, look out!!  Brett Favre also has something to prove.  Trouble is that McNabb actually has players around him who can help him and Favre does not.   Philly wins.

Kansas City @ Houston 1:00 PM ET The Matt Schaub era begins in Houston!  The Damon Huard era begins in KC!  Chances are neither of those players matter in this one which might be decided by field goals.  KC is an overall better team than Houston too.  KC wins.

Tennessee @ Jacksonville 1:00 PM ET Tennessee is young and possibly up and coming.  Jax is starting a new QB in David Gerard.  This one will be low scoring with Jax winning possibly by as little as a field goal.

Atlanta @ Minnesota 1:00 PM ET  I actually think that if Atl can put the Vick problem behind them and Joey Harrington can get his 2nd wind, they might be OK.  The Vikings are young and probably a year or 2 away.  This will be close and I actually see Atl winning.

New England @ NY Jets 1:00 PM ET The Pats are picked by many to go all the way this year and the Jets are young yet have potential to win a lot of games.  This one still goes to the Pats though.
Carolina @ St. Louis 1:00 PM ET The Panthers were off last year and it seems like they play well every other year so look out!   The Rams could scare some people with their well rounded attack.   St. Louis wins here in an offensive show.
Miami @ Washington 1:00 PM ET That smell you smell is coming from FedEx Field!!   These 2 teams are not good.  This game could be very low scoring and I give it to the home team slightly.

Detroit @ Oakland 4:15 PM ET Supposedly, Detroit will be much better this year.  Oakland still doesn't have their No. 1 Draft Choice signed yet, at least as of this writing.  Detroit runs the old "Best Show on Turf" offensive of Mike Martz and could score a lot of points.  Detroit wins here, possibly in a shut out.

Chicago @ San Diego 4:15 PM ET Which Rex Grossman will show?  If the Good Rex shows, Chicago can play with SD.  If not, SD will win in a route.  It won't be a route but SD wins anyway.

Tampa Bay @ Seattle 4:15 PM ET  It wasn't that long ago that Tampa won the SB but they haven't been any good since.  Seattle should win easily.

NY Giants @ Dallas 8:15 PM ET  An important Divisional game early.  The Giants and Eli Manning need to get off to a good start or they could lose ground early and not be able to catch up.  The Cowboys look to be "America's Team" again.  Another variable is Wade Phillips, new Cowboys Head Coach.  He failed in other head coaching jobs.  Can this one be different?  I think so.  Cowboys win.
Sep. 10, 2007 Monday
Baltimore @ Cincinnati 7:00 PM ET  An early AFC North Showdown.  They should do an "MSNBC Lookup" on the Bengals after all their offseason legal problems.   They are in serious need of on and off the field leadership which right now seems to be lacking.  The Ravens have a brilliant coach in Brian Billick.  Just ask him.  :-)  Baltimore wins in a defensive game.

Arizona @ San Francisco 10:15 PM ET   2 up and coming teams.  Unfortunately for the Cards, the 'Niners are further along in the rebuilding process and could possibly challienge for a playoff spot this year.  'Niners win in what could be a high scoring, fun game to watch.
Stay tuned for my Review on Tuesday!!

Everyone should make their Super Bowl plans for this season, because the Cowboys are a dynasty in the making. When they use Cleveland's first round draft choice next draft to take Darrin McFadden, and their own pick to grab a young receiver (in a draft loaded with top receivers) they will go on a run. Hate Jerry all you want, but he has managed the money such that they will not have to let top players go because of the cap. They should be a top team for years to come.

Colts draw first blood of the season.....

NEW YORK (AP) - Tiki Barber isn't about to take back negative comments he made recently about his former team, though he did clarify one of his remarks about head coach Tom Coughlin.
In an interview with Matt Lauer on the "Today" show Thursday to promote his new book, Barber said although Coughlin was not the sole reason he retired from football this year after 10 seasons with the New York Giants, the often irascible coach was a contributing factor.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady missed a portion of practice Thursday because of his chronic right shoulder injury.
Brady was on the field during the time the media was allowed to view practice, but the team later reported that had he "limited participation." Patriots coach Bill Belichick was not available for comment.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Bids topped $10,000 Thursday on an Internet auction site for what an animal rights group says are notes from football star Michael Vick's speech apologizing for a dogfighting scandal.
The Humane Society of the United States is selling on eBay the single-page, six-point outline of the speech Vick gave at an Aug. 27 news conference in Richmond after pleading guilty in his dogfighting case.

LOL at the "priceless pep talk" commercial.

"we just tape the smallest guy to the goalpost"

Estring -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/6/2007 10:11:00 PM)

The Colts looked damn good. Especially their defense.

domiguy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/6/2007 10:25:20 PM)

As the season progresses I can see the Packers band wagon becoming a bit crowded....Join now.....I'm guarding it with a loaded shotgun....You can climb aboard now....As the road to the Super Bowl nears you will meet with the sting of buckshot if you try and approach and bask in the beauty that is the "green and gold."...For you harbor a heart that is not pure in it's devotion.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/7/2007 5:04:39 AM)

I had to turn it off last night when the score was 34-10. It was too painful and skeery to watch.
I swear Manning has some sort of krypto kinetic or magnetic super powers when it comes to hitting his recievers. Does anyone else think that M Harrison and Wayne have magnetic fingers ? Addai is VERY good, and Utoh is no slouch either.
The Colts looked solid of defense too.
I have to, not want to, say it: Manning is a thing of beauty to watch when he is firing in all cylinders.

And on the other side of the ball, Brees did not have a good game, and he was pissed. The Colts really got under his skin.

Hey DG ?

Would you mind sharing a little of that Green and Gold Koolaid you been drinking ?

I was the Kool Aid maker last year, but methinks you just may have beat me out of a job this year.

* I * tried doing that too, Level. I came up empty. Brees didn't have a good game cuz the Colt D rattled him. He had no time in the pocket. Saints D, couldn't confuse or get to Manning. You've got to be able to keep Manning of balance, once he gets in that rythum, you aren't going to stop him. He's is the spawn of the Devil, not the precious Brady boy. You have to have a D that can make him question himself, take away his concentration, make him re think his plays. That's no easy task.

BUT, it's the first game of the season, it was played in the RCA doom and we will see just how good they are come the second half of the season. They tend to take a slow downward spiral as the season progresses.

And another thing. lol.

Have you guys seen the new injury report format ? I think it stinks.
