Yeah, the Colts are much thinner this year, if they have many injuries, they may be in trouble.

What about an injury format? Not sure what you mean, mb.

IRVING, Texas (AP) - Dallas receiver Terry Glenn will miss the Cowboys' opener Sunday against the New York Giants after injuring the knee that was operated on in the preseason.
The 33-year-old missed all four preseason games after arthroscopic surgery Aug. 1 to remove a cyst from the back of his right kneecap. The latest injury came in practice two days ago, coach Wade Phillips said Friday.

"Unfortunately, he had another injury that was not related to the original injury," Phillips said.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Having missed all four preseason games because of a contract dispute, Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel doesn't know where he stands on New England's depth chart — or whether he will even play in Sunday's season opener against the New York Jets
"I guess we'll have to wait and see on Sunday," Samuel said Friday. "I'm just going out and practicing and working hard."

SAN DIEGO - Preseason Super Bowl hype doesn't usually surround a team that has failed to win a playoff game in 12 years, let alone one with a new head coach with a 58-82-1 career record.
That should tell you about the state of the San Diego Chargers.

When it comes to building a roster set to win now and in the future, no NFL franchise may be poised for more success. New Chargers coach Norv Turner is inheriting arguably the league's top four players at their respective positions — running back LaDainian Tomlinson, tight end Antonio Gates, nose tackle Jamal Williams and strong-side linebacker Shawne Merriman — along with 26 others who are under contract through at least the 2009 season.

Time for one of my periodic college football links:

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - His first test as a coach will be in Norman, Okla., against the fifth-ranked Sooners, and it will be as loud and alive as college football can be on a Saturday afternoon. But promise one thing as this game comes into view.

Promise you won't suggest how tough this day will be for Randy Shannon.

We don't know anything about Shannon yet as a coach except there's never been one like him. Tough? His father was murdered on the meanest streets America can offer when Shannon was 3. Tough? Three siblings were taken, one by one, first in a haze of drugs and then for good through the AIDS virus.

I hear the regular old fashioned probable, out, questionable injury report comes out on Saturday, but we just get that practice participation crap until then.

Go 2 Guy: Seahawks duo blitzed by Bush backlash
By JIM MOORE
P-I COLUMNIST

KIRKLAND -- Are you still fans of Matt Hasselbeck and Mack Strong after they visited President Bush last week in Bellevue? Or have their political leanings turned you against them?

The Seahawks quarterback and fullback gave the 43rd president a No. 43 jersey with his name on it at a $1,000-a-plate fundraiser for Rep. Dave Reichert at the Hyatt.
At the time, Hasselbeck called it a thrill and said it was a win-win, this opportunity to meet the president and get out of a team meeting.

But as soon as he saw the picture of the two players with Bush, Gary Wright, the team's vice president of administration, said he was concerned about negative reaction.
Maybe in really red Republican states, it would not have been a big deal. But Washington is a blue state, and deep, deep Democratic blue in King County. So objections were raised, and Hasselbeck heard them and read them. He got nasty voice mails, e-mails and text messages.

"I had no idea," Hasselbeck said.

One guy told him: "I hate you, I'll never wear your jersey, I'll never like the Seahawks again."

"Huh?" Hasselbeck thought. "Seriously?"

"Politics can be very mean and dirty," he said. "The things politicians say about each other, and what activists say, I had a brief glimpse of that for a couple of days.
"If I ever had any questions about whether I wanted to run for office, I now know the answer -- I don't."

As a quarterback, he's used to getting booed. "But this was a whole new level," he said. "I was very surprised how mean (they were)."

As evidence were these responses to Angelo Bruscas' blog posting on seattlepi.com:
"How dare Hasselbeck declare Bush an honorary Seahawk," wrote one. "Who is Matt speaking for? Bush is no Seahawk. He is the worst president of my lifetime, and I'm almost 60. Shame on you, Matt."

"To learn that two of the most popular Seahawks are strong (Bush) supporters ruins the season for me and my family," wrote another.

And Timothy P. wrote: "Just goes to show you that being a great athlete doesn't make you smart."

Among the right-wing rebuttals: "Amen! It's about time that someone broke through the liberal haze in this state. I don't know about anyone else, but the Seahawks gained another fan and ticket buyer."

And this: "He's the president of the United States. You liberals are the nastiest, most hateful people I know. I'm ashamed of Seattle."

At my house, the Go 2 Wife was stunned, and it sounds like coach Mike Holmgren got the same reaction from his wife, too.

"I can't really tell you what she said," Holmgren said.

Kathy Holmgren did tell her husband: "I'm glad they didn't ask you." If they had, he would not have gone, no doubt because of the wrath he would have faced at home.
"She's a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat," Holmgren said.

Holmgren has been to the White House on three occasions.

"If you get a chance to meet the president of the United States, it's probably special," Holmgren said, and it was to him.

Sanity -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/8/2007 6:28:02 PM)

No doubt!!! The best I'll manage that way though, is to turn up my surround sound until my walls shake, but I'll be there in spirit. I've been a huge 'Hawks fan since their very first season, and that won't change in the foreseeable future.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/9/2007 5:16:59 AM)

Yay, it's game day.  I'll be at my brother's house, pizza, booze and Steelers vs Browns.

Good Morning Football Freaks !!!

It's finally here.

Good Luck to us all today !  Hopefully none of us will be sobbing at the end of the day.
I'll be at Mom's with the siblings and a few friends. Sandwiches, soup and booze.

Level forget Katy and mmb....It's game day....They are dead to us.  I think it's time to take a moment of silence for all of the Eagles players who are about to be carried off of the splendidly green, unfrozen tundra that is Lambeau Field.....As I face to the north I believe I can catch the scent of the first Johnsonville brat to hit the grill...What's that? Could that be the scent of another title heading our way?

God bless you, Green and Gold.....I wore my Packer jammies last night for good luck.  Can a true Dom wear and say the word "jammies?".....For the rest of the season I'm toying with the idea of referring to the Domidong as "Lil' R.N." for the duration of the Packer title run.

Of course a true Dominate can use " jammies". But it must be follwed by Domly words. Such as: fetch me my jammies, slut.

Jets are looking to be a solid contender this year. I think it is going to be a tough game. The evil Mangina may be getting secrets from ex Pats players.[;)] He had Reche Caldwell in NJ last week after being cut and a few others a few weeks back.
I'm a bit concerned with Harrison on diciplinary action and Seymour out for God knows how long. Have to see how our secondary does with the losses.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Despite having his first season in New England cut short by a broken arm, Junior Seau has been chosen by his teammates to be one of the Patriots' seven captains this year.

The players selected Seau, 38, in a vote this week, along with quarterback Tom Brady, running back Kevin Faulk, defensive end Ty Warren and linebackers Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel and Larry Izzo, the Patriots said Thursday.

I think the Bears shouldn't piss this guy off........

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Shawne Merriman doesn't want to get drawn into a verbal exchange with the Chicago Bears.

The defending NFC champions haven't been shy about goading Merriman in advance of Sunday's season opener at Qualcomm Stadium.

"I would like to say a bunch of things," Merriman said Friday. "And that starts all the way to the top and all the way to the bottom. Things have been directed at me and toward my team. But for the sake of this team and what we're trying to accomplish, I haven't said anything. I don't know how long that can last, but I still keep trying."

The Bear game should be a good one....After living in this town for 14 years it has taken all I can muster to watch a Bear game and not hope that they lose.....I hope San Diego kicks their ass!

And is Samuel going to play today?

Still up in the air. Yesterday he said he felt good, but not sure he was ready to play. Said he might play, but unsure to the extent of his participation.

And in true genious form Belichick said somethng like: Do I think he is where others are in week 6, No that's unrealistic. You gotta love BB, he's like a Seinfeld character says alot of nothing about something, and you walk away entertained and feeling informed. lol. Guess you have to be a Pat's fan to appreciate it.
