I am in awe of folks who whip up wondrous spreads. I make a wicked pie crust, and am generally the "kitchen bitch" for my mom. I make the baked potatoes, set the table, keep up with dishwashing (she has no auto dishwasher), set up the side dishes, etc.

I am not sure why this is. Upbringing? Disposition? My little sister cannot make a t-day dinner to save her life. Yet, we are not that many years apart. I think I never did much sophisticated stuff because for a long time I had teeny tiny cooking areas (toaster oven or hot plate) during school and was stuck in the habit. I did a small turkey dinner (it was a turkey roll) for some of my college aquaintances long ago. I am improving my cooking, but it's a slow thing!

For the past 2 days, we have seeing deer in a pasture, just munching. Yesterday, we saw a group of feral hogs crossing the road. The group had at least 15 hogs in it. Where is my gun? Either one from the 2 groups can feed up for the winter..tougher means that we are sitting pretty until summer.

Happy Turkey Day everyone......wish I was doing the big dinner thing, but it's just me and the kittehs......so it's a turkey breast and taters and gravy for one......oops, make that 5....the kittehs will be there for their share too! Holly, at least try to start the fire after the FD guys have eaten thier dinner.......ooooh, maybe before....turkey makes everyone sluggish and in need of a nap......better yet, you should have planned to invite them for dinner....they wouldn't have to worry about traveling there in a hurry! snort I know you've entertained us all with your stories of your kitchen ::finesse::, but c'mon....no one's as bad a cook as my sister! She's NEVER done Turkey Day or Christmas dinner at her place, she's always gone to someone's house for the meals
