Oh yeah??? Well I have all the groceries bought.....so there!!!!!!!!! [image]http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/pfft2.gif[/image]

Does this mean that the reindeer are safe right now?
*ducks and run*

wouldnt they always be safe??? I mean...come on, if holly chases a reindeer...they stretch their legs and she falls over...they know that already [:D]

Alas, you forget the one casualty last Christmas....the prelit little guy never stood a chance against her and her driving skills!  I hear even the plastic snowmen move in the night to the neighbor's house....no mean feat considering she lives out in the sticks!

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (11/25/2010 5:54:58 PM)

Happy Thanksgiving All!!!!!

Dinner was mostly a success.  It has been several years since I have made candied sweet potatoes.  I do not even like them and the other half is not allowed to have them.  So. . . I cooked them up.  Except I did not time things well and they were not completely cooked.  Well, by the time this was discovered, everyone was at the table with plates full of food.  Not much I can do at that point.

I look across the table at my SIL.  She is try to saw off a chunk of sweet potato.  Now, she is the one that told me that were not completely cooked.  I looked at her and said, "Meredith, if they are not cooked, DON'T eat them!"  After looking at me in wonderment, she stopped trying to saw them.

The other half says that is when everyone else at the table stopped trying to eat them.  *head-desk*  Other than the 16 year old boy who had just plowed through them and everything else on his plate before all were even seated.

There seemed to be some amazement that I would not be upset if folks did not try and choke down undercooked food.

I will say that after dinner I re-cooked the stupid things so that I could send them home with their share of the leftovers.  They are my nieces favorite Thanksgiving thing.

The peppermint bark was a huge hit with my BIL as well as the mulled wine.  The six year old was really sure that he needed crackers to take home, so I gave him a baggie and told him to take as many as he wanted.  They were Club crackers.  Not exactly rare, but it was pretty amusing to me.

Of course the "broken item over Thanksgiving"* happened last night.  I exploded my electric knife.

After telling myself to watch the cord, I proceeded to attempt to cut through it.  For some reason, that is just not the best idea, all things considered.

Over all, things went wonderfully!

I hope everyone else's was as fantastic!

*It is a law of nature that SOME appliance will have an issue and break down on Thanksgiving.

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (11/25/2010 7:58:30 PM)

Well, Aylee, all my appliances made it through safely...I did my turkey breast in a bag in the crock pot.  It came out nice and tender and juicy.  However, I didn't think ahead on how I was going to get said breast OUT of the crock pot.....I ended up pulling it out in chunks, and only splashed the broth on myself twice.  But, since it was almost 80 here today, I didn't want to heat up the kitchen by using the oven.  I also cheated on the taters and used instant for the same reason.

All in all, it was a pretty tasty dinner.....and I have leftovers for a few days too!  [:)]

but...but....but, Stevie...I'm going to heat up the kitchen here shortly to make cookies.......if I give you some, would that make you like me again?

And it's not 80 anymore.....it's dropped down to a chilly 70........*MWAH*

DarkSteven -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (11/25/2010 8:31:15 PM)

Last year it was the faucet.  [>:]

I am glad to hear that it was wonderful.  It would have been better if you had come to my house.  nod nod.

I'll box up the chocolate chip and peanut butter blossom cookies for you.......um, you're not allergic to peanuts, right?  Defeats the purpose if'n I send you to the ER!  Otherwise, I can substitute either sugar cookies, molasses cookies or oatmeal, with or without nuts and raisins.......

Or, you can just tell me your fave, and I'll make them!  [8|]

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (11/25/2010 10:50:14 PM)

Aylee, I'll pencil Christmas in, how's that?  And I'll bring a pie......it should be cooler by then!  [:)]

HOLLY!!  oh hell no.. even if I had more than about 20.00 in my acct, you could not PAY me to go anywhere near 'black friday' ickiness!!

Glad you (and presumably, the family) got through the day unscathed (said in a hopeful voice)

sirsholly -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (11/26/2010 4:26:51 AM)

GREEDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am doing the Cyber Monday thing. I despise malls on a normal day so i refuse to go anywhere near one...except to take the LoudOne to see Santa. [image]http://www.millan.net/minimations/toolminis/argtomte.gif[/image]
