how many people here deal with chronic migraines? how -do- you deal with them? i've had them since i was very young, once a month or so, although in the past couple months they've become much more frequent - sometimes once a week or more. they seem to run in the family - my sister also has them frequently, and my dad had very intense headaches also. i'm just now being treated by a neurologist, which means that i'm able to use actual migraine meds for treatment (for awhile, when i had it on hand for back pain, i would use vicadin every now and then, because it knocked me out long enough to make the pain go away). however, i tend to be of the "sleep until it's over with" mind, and i have a terrible time functioning at all. i really don't know any better way to deal with them, and i've never learned how. i work with a woman who can work while she has a migraine, which is incredibly hard for me to imagine...i've done it once, wouldn't care to do it again. i'd like to learn how other people manage theirs, though, because i want to be able to further minimize the impact they're having on my life...which seems to be growing. and honestly, on top of the other chronic pain issues i have going on, this one used to be fairly minor and i'd like it to stay that way. so...do you have chronic migraines? how do you handle it? do you take meds, change your eating/sleeping habits, etc.? what's helped the most?
