LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 4:55:25 PM)

Thanks - gave me time to make up this relatively weak one:

Salsa Mahonesa
Insalta Nizzarda
Gallettes Briton
Marmite Dieppoise

mnottertail -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 4:56:52 PM)

peruvian rodents?

I don't have google handy you see

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:15:04 PM)

Not unless Peruvians are accustom to eating the indigineous rodents prepared in a foreign (to them) manner.

P.S.  I thought EVERYONE had Google handy

sunshinemiss -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:16:33 PM)

three of them are sauces...

intenze -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:18:14 PM)

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:21:05 PM)

Peruvians eat CUY - that would be guinea pig for those who don't speak Quechua.  And it is delicious!

I will say the one sounds like salsa for salchypappa (an actual Peruvian dish).

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:30:57 PM)

No, only one is a sauce.

Snotty french names for comfort food?   Closest yet.  Yes, they are all French dishes/sauces but that's not the commonality.  Something more specific.  And many other dishes/sauces could be on the list.

Peruvian?  Not at all.... mnotter was trying to thread-jack. LOL!

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:32:13 PM)

SpiceGuy: where are you?  I thought this'd be a slam-dunk for you

sunshinemiss -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:32:53 PM)

Really?  Hmmm...well don't I feel silly?

But I love Peruvian... pretty much anything Peruvian...

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:33:09 PM)

All dishes that trained chef slaves should be able to make for the Master?

Wolf2Bear -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:34:33 PM)

French dishes which contain various types of shellfish/seafood? (cream based)

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:35:59 PM)

LOL! - Love you, too, fluff.

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:44:24 PM)

Nope.  The commonality has nothing to do with ingredients.

We have (in order)

A Sauce
A Salad
A Pancake
A Fish stew (similar to bouillabaisse)

edited for spelling

Wolf2Bear -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:47:18 PM)

Dayum...20 years of a cooking career down the tube.

All dishes are commonly found in one specific province of France?

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:50:07 PM)

Nope, nope, but closest yet.

sunshinemiss -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:56:26 PM)

Hmmm... I thought the second was the dressing for the salad.  Thank you for clearing that up Lance....

Are they foods that originated in other areas that are now considered French specific dishes?
Shot in the dark!

angelikaJ -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:57:07 PM)

French dishes that were adopted by other countries?

Wolf2Bear -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 5:58:32 PM)

Or dishes that were adapted to French style cooking?
