Wolf2Bear -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 8:44:10 PM)

Nay Hiltie...ye been touched by the sidhe!

HatesParisHilton -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 8:48:07 PM)

my name is actually the anglicized form f Sidhe, my anam cara (to use the Gaelic)!

and I bow to De Morriga and and Nuada Airgetlamh and Mannanan Mac Lir before I bow to any Zeus or Hades! Bwahh hawww!

(and my bloodline comes from Cairraigh , aka "Kerry" where the folks still see around corners...)

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 9:03:29 PM)

Nope.  They did not all originate in Normandy.  And even if they did, that's not the commonality that's hinted at in my hidden clues.

Wolf2Bear -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 9:05:49 PM)

Me bloodlines trace back to County Donegal and County Tipperary

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 9:08:08 PM)

Yoiks!  Talk about thread-jacking......

Boys! Boys, try to concentrate.

Salsa Mahonesa
Insalta Nizzarda
Gallettes Briton
Marmite Dieppoise

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/1/2009 9:09:22 PM)

Sorry Lance  *Sir*  Great....how am I supposed to concentrate after being called boy???  *sigh*

These are recipes which were created as a result of the French occupation of Spain???
There is a Spain/France connection here.

well one recipe is named after Dieppe which was a battlefront in Dieppe France  lol

eta:  WW2

THAT is the closest yet, bear!  Just extend that factoid across the quartet! The fish stew is named after its city of origin..

Dieppe gave its name to Marmite Dieppoise.
Mahon gave its name to Salsa Mahonesa.

Any more and I'll have to say that the "nasty names" is a hidden clue and the "written word" is as well... Oh, yeah. "broken" might just mean break each item into its two words..... sigh.... and I thought it'd be easy.

spiceguy2009 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/2/2009 7:26:05 AM)

Their origins are in their names, of course they did not all originate in france.

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/2/2009 4:46:47 PM)

Well, it's about friggin' time you showed up, SpiceGuy.  Where the hell have you been?  I thought this was a slam dunk for you... The baton (manufactured in Baton Rouge, LA <for Laughing Aloud>) is yours to pass to the next wiener (named after Wien, Austria aka Vienna) by giving us a quartet.  Nothing food, I'm hoping, and certainly not French. Hiltie abhors geography as strongly as he does geometry.  DC will be waiting in the wings (probably the Eastern one - get it? The East Wing!  Get it? Get it? Oh..... you got it the first time...... well, okay then) to pounce on historical and political topics.  Poor fluff and I will play until tired, leaving you with weak, ill-informed adversaries.

That all said, watcha got, fella?

P.S.
Dieppe gave its name to Marmite Dieppoise. (Fish Stew)
Mahon gave its name to Salsa Mahonesa. (Mayonnaise)

Brittany gave its name to Gallettes Briton. (Pancakes)
Nice gave its name to Insalta Nizzarda. (aka Salade' Nicoise)

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/2/2009 8:33:35 PM)

SpiceGuy, it's your turn

spiceguy2009 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/2/2009 8:39:14 PM)

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/2/2009 8:51:05 PM)

They are all in movies - 2 were originally child actors but i'm not sure if the other two were child actors, as well.

spiceguy2009 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/3/2009 5:34:37 AM)

Sorry, Fluff, but I don't think Jack Palance was a child actor, either way that is not the commonality I am looking for, It has nothing to do with their CHILDHOOD!

angelikaJ -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/3/2009 7:32:56 AM)

They all graduated from Stanford.

spiceguy2009 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/3/2009 10:09:18 AM)
