PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger didn't have any problem recalling the significance of June 12. It's been circled on his calendar for nearly a year. 
So, while the Steelers were holding a voluntary team workout Tuesday at Heinz Field - spending a day away from their practice complex - their quarterback was remembering where he was a year ago to the day.

That day he crashed his motorcycle into the side of a car that failed to yield the right of way at a busy Pittsburgh intersection, causing a scary accident in which the helmet-less Roethlisberger lost considerable blood - and, with it, nearly was killed.

DETROIT (AP) - Former NFL star Andre Rison faces a court-ordered bankruptcy to pay more than $105,000 in back child support and other claims. 
He has until June 25 to respond to the order before the court proceeds with efforts to recover his assets, Terese Dear, a courtroom deputy for U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Flint, said Tuesday. The order was entered June 6.

Rison, a Pro Bowl receiver who played at Michigan State, owes child support, attorney fees and court administrative costs, according to a Chapter 11 bankruptcy court petition.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Browns rookie quarterback Brady Quinn is too busy learning a new playbook and offensive system, and getting familiar with his teammates to worry about the possibility of a holdout when training camp starts in July. 
Quinn, talking Tuesday after the morning practice of minicamp two-a-days, said he has yet to discuss contract negotiations with his agent, Tom Condon.

"That's between him and the Browns," Quinn said. "I'm just trying to work hard, make a name for myself here on the Browns and hopefully help our team."

CHICAGO - Former Bears coach Mike Ditka blasted one of his former players on Monday for accusing him of not caring about players.

In February at the Super Bowl, Ditka spoke out about former players who needed financial help. Ditka and other retired players want the union to increase benefits to players hobbled by NFL play.

According to the Chicago Tribune, former Bears safety Dave Duerson, who was also a union representative, said Ditka, "was not one who gave a damn about the players or their injuries when he was coaching. He was very disrespectful of guys who got hurt."

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Every player from the Carolina Panthers has been sweating through three weeks of voluntary workouts - except Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kris Jenkins. 
"I've got to take the responsibility of being the fattest guy out there," said 370-pound defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu with a smile.

For now, the Panthers have shied away from criticizing Jenkins.

Tony Romo, who has been spotted in US Weekly more than Sports Illustrated this off-season, never puts anything before football.

Romo, in the final year of his contract, deserves a freshly minted mega-buck deal.

And for Keyshawn Johnson to call Romo the "most overhyped player in the league" is absolutely absurd.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Coming off his second major injury in three years and entering his 15th season, Michael Strahan of the New York Giants still believes he is the NFL's best defensive end. 
While that might sound boastful, the seven-time Pro Bowler didn't see it that way as the Giants conducted a three-day mandatory minicamp.

"I can still pop on the film and show you I am still the best at what I do," Strahan said. "I mean that's my opinion."

Wow - that is an amazing team!  I probably would have put Ozzie in at TE and could argue for a few different QB's I might take before Roger, but other than that, damn fine team.

Yep, he was a terrific player, but what cemented it for me was Winslow's game against the Dolphins in the 1982 playoffs:

As for QB, I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up to anyone choosing Joe Montana, or Johnny Unitas, over Staubach. Terry Bradshaw and John Elway weren't too bad, either.

I can understand you going with Winslow.  To me, the consistency of quality play delivered by Oz for such a long career was the main factor in my choice. 

I think arguements could be made for any of those quarterbacks, but lets revisit this in a few years when my boy Vince has had more than just one season! [;)]  and then there's Troy! and Dan Marino and Steve Young and in terms of percentages (passes attempted v. interceptions) even Bernie Kosar for that matter.  But, yes, I was thinking of Terry Brashaw when I made the comment.

Adding the punter and kicker, as fairer pointed out I had forgotten them:
 
Punter - Ray Guy
Kicker - Adam Vinetieri (I hate trying to spell his name)
 
Bradshaw was a fine QB, but he needed the talent around him more than Staubach, or Montana did, IMO.
 
Bernie Kosar wins hands down for the ugliest throwing AND running styles. But he was a good player.
 
Vince......... ah, Vince. Damn I wish he was still at UT!

Well, what's done is done in terms of Vince and UT.  I believe he will have a long and successful career in the NFL.  I know I enjoy watching him play every week - get text messages from my friends during his games - "did you see what Vince just did?" lol

Yes, Bernie had to be the ugliest player around.  He was just unconventional enough to make him damn near impossible to intercept.
