That said, I'm impressed that the Steelers even made a game of it.  Good pressure on Rodgers all night, and Mendenhall has become one tough son of a bitch to tackle.  Before this, I never really thought of him as a top-echelon running back.

Agreed.  After the first quarter, I thought the game was over.  I wonder if Woodson was that key to GB that they couldn't defend against the Steelers at all in the third quarter.

Rodgers was incredible - nobody can throw deep balls like that in the SB without fear of interceptions.  And his receivers were dropping balls they should have held on to - he should have been more successful than he was.

Woodson broke his collar bone..What a great game...I have been fortunate enough to go to 40 + games at Lambeau Field and 14 away Packer games in 9 cities. Kansas is our next away game next year.GO PACK

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/6/2011 9:31:46 PM)

Seems another couch gave its "life" for the Steeler team.

servantforuse -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/6/2011 9:53:03 PM)

The Green Bay Packers are the best team to ever play the game.. 13 titles.. 4 Super Bowls...

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/6/2011 9:58:08 PM)

Ummm.. Considering they are the second oldest team in the NFL, I would expect them to have more wins... Its sort of a no brainer.

servantforuse -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/6/2011 10:01:05 PM)

Do I win a prize ? I did say 31 to 20 Packers, It was 31 25...

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/6/2011 10:01:46 PM)

How much money did you win?

servantforuse -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/6/2011 10:14:48 PM)

Nothing on 'collarme'.. I did get in a pool for $ 50 at the beginning of the season. I was up $ 150 before tonight. I won a $ !00 in the first quarter tonight..I'm now up $ 250 for the year.

And some of those rockets had so little arc, you wondered if he was suspending gravity with how direct the ballpath line was.

Yay me!

Third-oldest.  Don't forget the Cardinals.  And most teams have not been anywhere near as successful as the Packers (like, ummm, those Cardinals).

Its those quick seam routes that drive GB, not deep balls. GB didn't hit on any bombs, rather GB converted mid-range quick strikes with runs after the catch. The receivers never slow down and the CBs, if at all out of position, cannot catch up.

DomImus -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/7/2011 6:51:39 AM)

Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers. They are a excellent team - talented players, disciplined, a franchise quarterback and very well coached. They should be a playoff contender for several years to come.

The Steelers just never got their A game together. You can't spot a team like Green Bay 21 points or turn the ball over 4 times in a Super Bowl and expect to win. That being said, there are damned few teams that could do that and still be only 6 points down at the two minute warning. You can't go to every Super Bowl and you can't win every one that you do get to go to. Somebody has to go home with the L - that's football. I'm a proud Steeler fan and I'm proud of the Steelers.

Actually, I think PITT was one Mendenhall fumble away from winning.

huh?

Professionally, the Arizona Cardinals are the oldest team in the NFL, being founded in 1898 as the Morgan Athletic Club. The Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears are the next oldest teams, both being founded in 1919. The Bears (as the Decatur Staleys) and the Cardinals (as the Racine Cardinals) both joined the NFL in 1920 as founding teams. The Packers joined a year later in 1921.

If you want to get technical, the Green Bay Packers would actually be the oldest team, as you can trace their lineage back to 1896 to semi-professional teams that played in Green Bay. However, they did not officially become the Packers until 1919, and therefore are not considered the oldest.

Which is why I said they were the second oldest in the league.

Yep, a perfectly executed west coast style offense.

flcouple2009 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/7/2011 9:30:40 AM)

Against the Steelers those seam routes also take advantage of the fact that Polamalu is everywhere BUT where the safety would normally be.

YSG -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/7/2011 9:33:10 AM)

well, the dude was being used to cover up the fact that he's the only player in the steelers secondary thats worth a damn.

~ is still in mourning for the couch

flcouple2009 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (2/7/2011 9:56:38 AM)

It takes advantage of the fact that he is free to move around as he feels.  The corner has no inside up top.  It can be a hard route to cover without that inside help.  They also burned old Troy on the touchdown where he was looking for that route.

The Packers would have hit that route for several more big plays if the receivers had just caught the ball instead of having the drops.
