Thanks, but those guys are all long since taken.  We're on the level of Ahmad Bradshaw and T.J. Duckett right now.

Verron Haynes?  Was just re-signed for RB for the Steelers, in light of Parker's IR status.  I don't know anything about fantasy though or how much they intend on playing him.  It's anyone's guess.

Holy shit, I didn't even realize Duckett still played.

haha Duckett's been pretty good lately too. color this falcons fan shocked, I thought he was done for.

re: fantasy... you might wanna think about Darren Sproles or Michael Turner, San Diego's backup RBs. they're playing Oakland this weekend, the worst run defense in the league, and SD could be resting starters which would equal more carries for them. Sproles has been better in limited action, but it's hard to predict who will get more carries.

LaDainian Tomlinson has said that he wants the NFL rushing title, and I think that means he's going to get his fair share of carries.

Norv Turner won't be fired if the Chargers lose in the first round of the playoffs.
And Tom Coughlin saved his job by beating the Bills last Sunday, thus securing the fifth overall spot in the NFC Playoffs. But the Giants may have to beat the Tampa Bay Bucs for Coughlin to receive a contract extension beyond the 2009 season.

Coughlin is signed through next season and New York's management will give him an extra year for his third straight playoff finish. How the Giants perform in January will be the barometer on whether or not Coughlin secures a lengthier deal. Coughlin has yet to win a playoff game in New York and his franchise quarterback, Eli Manning, hasn't shown much improvement this season.    The situation has changed dramatically in San Diego from a year ago. Back then I was writing that Marty Schottenheimer may get fired if he didn't win a playoff game.

I guess that's fair.  It would be asinine to fire him, but it's true that they should win a game that actually matters before he gets a long-term deal.  Personally, I think Coughlin has done a really good job this year with middling talent.  A lot of guys on that team are overrated (starting with the quarterback).

Oh, on the Turner situation: The Chargers have improved noticeably and have a pretty ferocious defense now, but they are not going to beat the Colts or Patriots with Philip Rivers as their QB.

Ahhh. So you all hate the Broncos huh?

I WILL admit, they have had what you all said. I know they had at least 3 monday nighters. The only ones who get more than them though, are the Eagles and Giants. They get a LOT of "spotlight"

I'm a Falcons fan... I'll never NOT hate the Broncos. :[

Phillip Rivers is good enough, I think. He's the kind of QB who you win WITH, not who wins FOR you. But that's the case with most starting QBs.

Who do y'all like for the end-of-season awards?

MVP: doi
OROY: Peterson wins it, but I think Joe Thomas deserves serious consideration
DROY: Pat Willis
DPOY: hard to say - my top choices would be Kevin Williams, Albert Haynesworth, Bob Sanders and maybe Patrick Willis. I like the DTs out of that list, but who knows who will actually get the recognition...

Isn't Haynesworth the stomper guy?

They were pretty much trashing Phillips Rivers, saying the Chargers can't win with him unless he becomes more consistent in a good way.  Biggest mistake and the one that Marty did not support -- getting rid of Drew Brees.

yup, he stomped on Gurode. he's been phenominal this season (contract year) and is a huge part of why TEN's even been in a position to win this many games. the best case for him was made when he missed 3-4 games in November and the TEN defense immediately began to decline.

I like Haynesworth and Sanders, but Asante Samuel and Rodney Harrison are two reasons why the Patriots are 15-0.  In fact, I'd say the Pats' defense is probably stronger overall than their vaunted offense.  Their offense has been shut down for whole quarters at a time this season, but NO ONE has lit up their defense.

Who do y'all like for the end-of-season awards?

MVP: doi - Flip a coin between Tom Brady and Randy Moss

OROY: Peterson wins it, but I think Joe Thomas deserves serious consideration - Definitely Adrian Peterson. Thomas looks to be a Pro Bowl left tackle for the next decade, but Peterson could be a record-shatterer.

DROY: Pat Willis - Without a doubt; this guy is a hammer.

DPOY: hard to say - my top choices would be Kevin Williams, Albert Haynesworth, Bob Sanders and maybe Patrick Willis. I like the DTs out of that list, but who knows who will actually get the recognition...

All fine players, and I'd give a "maybe" for Haynesworth; I'll also add Pats LB Mike Vrabel.

And I seriously doubt they'd but Hanesworth (even though he's been awesome) in the running, because of a suspension. Is he even eligible? I thought there was a rule if you were suspended you aren't eligible. Maybe that's the pro-bowl.

I don't know if there are rules for the Pro Bowl as they just voted a dead guy to play in it!

I'm a Giants fan tonight. They just might pull it off!  21 - 16 in the Giants' favor now... seconds before going into halftime.
