ORIGINAL: Lucylastic PS what is your definition of allowing abortion on demand? This from someone who thinks they know so well what to expect from me? I've posted on abortion more than a few times, often in the same threads as you. Suddenly it's a mystery? I think there comes a point in time when it's no longer "just" her body anymore. I don't think that point in time is conception, and I don't think it only starts after birth. For me, the only issues are when and what the exceptions are after that point. I think that viability is probably the best basis on which to decide the "when" question, and medical necessity probably the best basis thereafter. But, of course, views vary widely (see here). quote:
Abortion on demand means (in English) if she wants it she gets it, and that is what I understand it to mean. If it's code for something else, you'll have to enlighten me. K. thank you...I was just wondering..as "abortion on demand" as you demonstrated means different things to different people and for different things. Your understanding as you saidquote:
Abortion on demand means (in English) if she wants it she gets it, and that is what I understand it to mean. If it's code for something else, you'll have to enlighten me. Roe vs Wade has a viability limit of 24-28 weeks(per 1973). Abortion is legal . With restrictions by states allowed. Most states have a legal limit. at the moment its around 20-22 weeks. After that, exceptions are made for incest, rape, and the life/health of the mother 43 states have restrictions on abortion viability dates. Which is hardly abortion on demand. https://www.guttmacher.org/state-policy/explore/overview-abortion-laws. Some people seem to think abortion on demand means that "you can take baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby.” which is obvious bollocks to anyone with a brain. Abortion on demand means to me. without a waiting period without having to travel to another state or county without having to first prove a special circumstance such as rape/incest with no further cost-prohibitive restrictions no transvaginal ultrasound or other medically unnecessary intrusive tests The woman and her doctor(and sperm donor if there is one around) decide what happens..
