i trust "99% of black violent deaths are from blacks killing blacks" is not meant to be taken literally in the statistical sense, but rather simply that the majority of black violent deaths are indeed from other blacks as opposed to from whites---and the liberals constantly get up in arms about the latter (because of raaaaaaaaaaaaacism) and not the former.

the statistics speaking to that, have been shared in the threads a number of times.

That's not even true.

Black on black violence is a product of the same social issues that 'liberals constantly get up in arms about'.

It's the right who wants everyone to believe that black people are just naturally more violent than whites, or that the solution to all of the social problems is to send more police into their neighborhoods and force them to behave (even if they're not actually doing anything wrong).

Bounty, seriously ... have you looked at Steve Bannon's history? All the old stuff that righties trot out about looney lefties and their nutty racism is redundant. The man is a bona fide zany goosestepping gibbering nutcase ... and he's now one of Trump's chief advisors.

Who....Van Jones...?

Bannon's appointment as a strategist to the Trump campaign drew strong opposition from the Anti-Defamation League, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Southern Poverty Law Center . . . [and] Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (source).

I don't know the man, but nobody opposed by the ADL, CAIR, the SPLC and Harry Reid can be all bad. [:D]

Are those supposed to be reasons to oppose him, or to support him?

Thank you, but I am interested in what tamaka has to say on it.

given what you said to her in a response that followed your response to me here, it seems more like you are looking for a "gotcha" moment because, as I said, she was speaking generally as opposed to literally, and those "general" numbers are indeed in the link she provided.

For one thing, I dont believe she was speaking generally. You may, fine. That's your interpretation. Not mine And she is an adult. She should be able to defend her posts herself.

As far as you accusing me of looking for a "gotcha" moment, whether or not that is true, what business of that is yours? Do you routinely go around and monitor posters and how they treat each other? If so, I have to tell you that you must be playing favorites. Also, do you feel that it is your role to admonish posters for their behavior? This is the dungeon, after all.

I think Obama missed an opportunity to tell the blacks to start taking a serious look at themselves. Maybe less than 1% of black deaths are from a cop shooting a black man. 99% of black violent deaths are from blacks killing blacks. They need to work on their own problems.

Can you please provide a credible citation for that?

Let me also make it clear that I am not interested in trading insults back and forth-I am interested in a citation for a statistic you have provided. Factual information. I have no need or interest in the other.

I am having trouble finding the numbers that you cited. Could you elaborate?

I was making an important point. Thanks for asking me to fact check the numbers. It seems i wasn't too far off.

A "gotcha" moment a la Palin, which involves acting like being caught in a blatant lie is proof that you're being picked on?

You should be thanking Kirata for doing the fact checking for you, something which you rarely, if ever, do. And not being "too far off" doesn't change the fact that you were wrong.

If you expect people to take your 'important points' seriously, you should at least bother to check that you are using accurate information, not guesses that you hope aren't 'too far off".

Nnanji -> RE: Unite The Country ? (11/21/2016 9:13:05 AM)

Actually, wayward, with no disrespect intended toward you, everyone that didn't want to find some little error in order to discredit her understood what she meant. We understood she was speaking colloquially and not scientifically.

mnottertail -> RE: Unite The Country ? (11/21/2016 9:27:19 AM)

more whites are killed by whites than blacks are killed by blacks.

So you couldn't figure out the point, and the word "idiot" popped into your head. Freud would be amused.

was actually making a point?

Okay I give up, if this wasn't a pointless attack, then what exactly is the secret meaning of this brilliant code?

Ok, l'll give you that the link you gave has the correct numbers. However, the link you gave did not support your statement. Those were not the numbers you cited.

Lucylastic -> RE: Unite The Country ? (11/21/2016 10:19:02 AM)

Your link gave a 93% figure three times, yet you insisted it was 99%
Comprehension and lying are not the same thing
from your own link
Giuliani pointed out that “93% of blacks are killed by other blacks.”

After the other talk-show guest, Georgetown University Professor Michael Eric Dyson, questioned that statistic, Giuliani responded by citing another figure from a 2010 Bureau of Justice Statistics report that did, indeed, conclude that 93% of black homicide victims from 1980 through 2008 were killed by black offenders.

This reporter took a look at the 2007 U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics report. In that study, the agency reported that blacks were victims of 7,999 homicides in 2005. It corroborated Giuliani’s claim that 93% of blacks were killed by other blacks, or about 7,440 murders in that year alone.

No disrespect taken, thank you. I just have to say that I am not going to apologize for calling someone out for incorrect statements. And the statement was presented as a statistic, not a generalization.

Generalization, estimations, guestimates. They all have their roles when utilized appropriately. She spoke more in matter of fact terms, which was incorrect. If she meant it as a generalization, she should state it as one. As a trained teacher, she should know that.
