i DO find a sort of black amusement in watching how loath self-proclaimed "liberals" are to call obama out on the same policies for which they were eager to chastise bush.

Perhaps you need to read more of the threads here before proclaiming you know what the "liberals" here criticize or dont.

BoxwineForBrunch -> RE: Gingrich on the rise and Bill Clinton's sounding the warning (11/27/2011 1:06:02 PM)

i didn't say anything about liberals here in particular.

The "in particular" doesnt negate the first part.

this is going to be my last reply in the thread, i suspect, since i have no horse in the race. there are literally no circumstances under which i would vote for (or more to the point give money to) either obama or his republican challenger. the gop could run david duke and zombie strom thurmond and i would still have nothing to do with obama (i neither donated nor voted for him the last time around either).

You do appreciate that even after saying that, Sanity and Wilbur are still going to insist that you're a liberal Dem Kool aid drinker because you've dissed Newt?

I've yet to see anyplace where liberals post that doesn't criticize Obama.

tazzygirl -> RE: Gingrich on the rise and Bill Clinton's sounding the warning (11/27/2011 1:10:15 PM)

Romney will get the nod... the rest is just show.

mnottertail -> RE: Gingrich on the rise and Bill Clinton's sounding the warning (11/27/2011 1:10:56 PM)

Newt Gingrich is a waste of oxygen, he won't be elected teabagger.

And I have yet to see you post something that responds to what someone actually said.

BoxwineForBrunch -> RE: Gingrich on the rise and Bill Clinton's sounding the warning (11/27/2011 1:13:01 PM)

i am amused by the tendency of liberals to defend obama on the same fronts they criticized bush. whether or not that tendency is prevalent here i cannot say. you are correct--i have not read enough threads here to make that judgment. that is why i clarified that i was not referring to the particular liberals who reside on this particular board.

to clarify....to liberals who have criticized obama on civil rights, military actions, and assassinations, "good for you." to liberals who have not criticized him on these fronts "shame on you." that is all.

Yes, please nominate Newt.

In 1968, Democrats were hoping and praying the Republican's would nominate Richard Nixon, who they viewed as a has been relic of the 1950's and had no chance to win the general election

In 1980 Democrats were hoping and praying the Republican's would nominate Ronald Reagan, who the felt was another relic of the past and a with no place in a post Vietnam and had no chance to win the general election

In 1992 Republican's were hoping and praying the Democrats were going to nominate Bill Clinton a never was governor from a hick state, who they felt was a novice and had no chance to win the general election.

in 2000 Republicans were hoping and praying the Democrats were going to nominate Barak Obama a freshman US Senator with virtually no executive experience, was black, who's middle name was Hussein and had no chance to win the general election.

That's True... I won't be able to highlight the GOP Nominee's adult diaper fashion choices,,, and I'll miss that. But it's time to face facts. Romney will never make it past Book O'
Mormon's 'brown people'.
I am looking for a cuddly nick name for Newt in preparation for the great Romney rejection... "Discarder of Wives" sounds too goth... and "Wish-nick" sounds too much like he'll start showing up for debates with three feet of fluorescent pink hair

edited because i somehow double posted in the same post.

Moonhead -> RE: Gingrich on the rise and Bill Clinton's sounding the warning (11/27/2011 1:18:34 PM)

Righteous! I didn't know they still allowed Marxists in the 'States since they did away with Joe Hill. I beg your pardon: I had no idea you were that far left.
(Small wonder you find Obama even more of a disappointment than the vaguely left leaning centrists who make up most of the Democrat party...)

I'm aware that you're fixated on the splinter in DK's eye, Willbur, but there seems to be big plank of that stuff they use for roofing in yours...

DarkSteven -> RE: Gingrich on the rise and Bill Clinton's sounding the warning (11/27/2011 1:32:07 PM)

I'm totally gobsmacked.  I figured he was running on sheer ego alone.  When he lost his campaign staff in (IIRC) NH, I figured it was all over.

I'm having a hard time believing that anyone could take someone with his personal history seriously.  If the cons dislike Romney so much for being LDS, I assumed they'd hate Newt for being a hypocrite.

Plus as someone said previously, he's just a plain nasty person.

Moonhead -> RE: Gingrich on the rise and Bill Clinton's sounding the warning (11/27/2011 1:37:32 PM)

Hypocrisy is far less of an issue than mormonism, if you're a lying two faced cunt looking for a nominee with a similar lack of integrity yourself, Steven.
I hate to sound harsh, but that's all there is to it in this case.

Up until Bobby was shot... after that I think the Democrat in america was in pretty deep turmoil. I remember the time well and yeah right up until the California primary, that was certainly the case, in fact they laughed out loud about it. After that, I don't think they really gave a rats ass who Humphrey ran against, they certainly didn't like him that much among the democrats I was around.
And yeah, he was kind of viewed as a relic. A relic of the McCarthy Era... I heard him described as "Joe McCarthy's old lap dog" all the time.

Owner59 -> RE: Gingrich on the rise and Bill Clinton's sounding the warning (11/27/2011 6:30:03 PM)

"greatly exaggerated "

You mean his entire staff didn`t quit en masse on him, including guys who were with him for ten years and more?

I must be thinking about another Newt Gingrich.
