I'm curious. Does anyone here think she would be an excellent President, on her own merits, not just "better than Obama"?

I don't consider myself a conservative, but....

What do you mean by "support"? As in support in the primary, or in the general?  I can't see anyone posting in P&R who would support her in the primary.  Period.  But some of the right-wingers here might just hold their noses and vote for her in the general.

Replace the Simpsons reruns? What the fuck is wrong with you Rich ? There is nothing better on TV.

I think Rachel Maddow might be trying to cash in on their model...

What is this "vast left wing conspiracy"? What is its agenda? Who is involved?

Most importantly: Why haven't I been invited to join it? (Surely I have all the credentials according to Willbur et al And I so hate missing out!) [:D] [:D]

You're in luck, Tweak, I still have some good contacts within the radical left.  Just give me your credit card number (for age verification) and I'll get you on the email list, and link you to a video that teaches the secret handshake.

tweakabelle -> RE: Do any conservatives here support Michelle Bachmann? (8/9/2011 9:54:42 PM)

Nothing personal TheHeretic - but any "vast left wing conspiracy" that has you on the inside obviously isn't worth a damn (secret handshakes or no secret handshakes).

However, as you claim you are in the privileged position of knowing all about it, please share the details with us. Obviously you can do a lot more than just confirm its existence - you can outline its goals, the main parties, its political agenda, its planned events, its targets and tactics etc.

If you are unable or unwilling to do so, your inability to share these details with us will naturally lead to us conclude that the "vast left wing conspiracy" is yet another figment of imagination by the deluded looney Right. Wing nuts are notorious for their tendency to elevate paranoia into a lifestyle.

TheHeretic -> RE: Do any conservatives here support Michelle Bachmann? (8/9/2011 10:08:54 PM)

It's a reference to the "vast right wing conspiracy" of the 90's, that Hillary Clinton claimed was responsible for the charges that her husband was a philandering pervert, with a taste for slutty looking, low-class ass.

You could Google it, and get in on the joke.

Support her as in, think she'd make an awesome President?  No, not by a long shot.  Better than Obama?  We'll see if we reach that point, and how the pressures of a campaign shape her.

Support her in the case of people who wish to joke and laugh about having "angry sex" with someone they don't know and hate anyway?  (It seems like we have a word for that activity...)  Yeah, I'll give her that much.  It seems the like the folks who normally care about that kind of thing are distracted elsewhere these days.

Yes there are always those "haters", right Richie?

More conservative drama queens.

I did get that thanks.

And thanks too for the confession of bankruptcy. Straight from the horse's mouth we are now advised that the looney Right is so bankrupt intellectually that they can't even think up original ways of abusing the people they hate. They have been reduced to the pathetic state of simply mirroring the Left's accusations mindlessly. Whether the Right's charges are true or even have any basis in reality seems irrelevant to them. It's a victory of noise over content.

It's truly a sad day when the acknowledged masters of personal attacks and smear politics have so over-used the only tactics at their disposal that there's nothing left in the locker and all they can do is parrot the charges of their opponents.

However I'm glad to hear you implicitly acknowledge that the Right's political program is a matter of interest only to collectors of conspiracy theories. Hopefully you will now move onto something a little more sophisticated than the Right's simplistic program of excuses for greed, self interest, avarice and enrichment of the few at the expense of the many.

As an independent who like Washington isn't a big fan of a two party system, I have to agree with Rich that having a majority of journalists belonging to one party will have a tendancy to skew things even though they try their best not to, that's just human nature. That said I can't blame them for mostly being democrats, the republican party has gotten seriously messed up and journalists are in the best position to notice.

As for my position on Bachmann, fuck go democrat because being kinky and pro republican is about like being black and pro KKK.

hot4bondage -> RE: Do any conservatives here support Michelle Bachmann? (8/10/2011 7:42:48 AM)

Your blanket statement is incorrect. Ron Paul says it's none of the government's business what you do in your bedroom. He's a Republican. Obama's views on that sort of thing are "evolving." He's a Democrat.

Mouth4Mistress -> RE: Do any conservatives here support Michelle Bachmann? (8/10/2011 7:52:19 AM)

Well, at this point, it's ABO - Anybody But Obama. According to some polls, even Casey Anthony has a better chance of winning :D

The first president since 1931 to preside over a downgrade of the US credit rating.
Spent more money than every president from Washington to Reagan COMBINED.
Ignored the War Powers Act, did not get Congress' permission to attack Libya.
Lied about Project Gunwalker / Fast And Furious.
Failed to protect the border, then sued the states that tried to do his job themselves.
Created a cult of personality that Stalin would be proud of (well, here it's 50% him and 50% the leg-tingling media).

I could go on for 10 pages here, but that's just a quick overview...

So yeah, ANYBODY will be "better than Obama". My cat can do a better job.

As far as Michele Bachmann specifically - she has principles, she can speak, is actually aware of foreign policy issues, and can defend herself.
I'd rather have HER in control than a weakling who storms out of negotiations crying "don't call my bluff" (verbatim quote, I'm not even exaggerating here).
I'd rather have HER untangling the economy, rather than a guy who, faced with his failures... spends a day "behind closed doors" with no media contact. PATHETIC.

If you look past the "crazy eyes" Photoshops and/or specialty photography (Newsweek), and actually look at her RECORD, she's not that bad. We could certainly do worse... (not naming any names).

LOL.,Mouth4Mistress has included more inaccuracies, outright lies and total bullshit than all the posters between willbur and sanity...and did so in one little post.
Welcome to the forums, stick around and watch as your preconceived notions get lampooned.
More money than all the Presidents between Washington and Reagan.....combined.....lol.Too funny, and too sad.

...seriously, don't you think the political debate has become hyperbolic when this sort of line is delivered without irony?

You dont understand Obamas situation

Even his base has begun to hate him

.....take a deep breath, this really can't be good for your blood pressure.

I'd try and lay out my point for you Sanity, but judging on your recent posts, you've stopped trying to debate.

I do have a point, I am not lost. There are people on these boardsd who broadly agree with much of your platform, who even admire your passion in defending your position, who also agree with me that the political debate in the US has become so polarised that it is in danger of becoming a civil war.

This is not a good thing, no matter how much you hate your sitting president.

chesterfieldmale -> RE: Do any conservatives here support Michelle Bachmann? (8/10/2011 10:50:28 AM)

I have no idea whom I support for the Republican nomination at this point, but I agree 100% with everything you said here. Your key phrase is "anyone better than Obama." All I really care about regarding the Republican nominee is that he or she beats Obama, and beats him soundly. I want a landslide that makes Reagan's wins look like Bush/Gore. Whoever proves that he/she can do that first gets my vote.
