Lord knows I'm in no position to tell anybody anything of the sort Aylee. And I'm not saying get rid of your guns .... just that the conversation makes me uncomfortable. In all honesty, part of my phobia has to do with a co-worker of my mom's who committed suicide with a gun - I still remember how devestated and horrified she way.

Anyways - have a safe trip

Shahar and jefff - if the guns keep the snakes and spiders away - okay *shivers*

In the household, we got a 30-30 and 2 4-10s.  I don't know what the others are and frankly don't want to know about them.

Mom keeps them locked anyway so if I run across a snake, I might be bitten before going to the cabinet.

Lizard completed the school last night.  I mentioned that before she gets her diploma, she should bone up on her Latin (she wants to stick to the Cambridge) and German courses and if possible, health science courses.  When she gets into college, I am recommending medical terminology since she is hinting at pre-med.

Lizard went back to school to return some books and to get the reminder of her lunch money.

About the plastic swords and such, I went through a period where I had to buy a new refrigerator brush every few months. My son and his friend kept taking them for sword fighting and never putting them back. I had never seen them remove them from the closet so had no idea what was going on. Eventually I found a stash of them. The plastic would have been a lot cheaper.

ST, congrats on the homeschooling solution. I couldn't do it because I couldn't help with science but it's great she's at a point all she needed was to pass the tests. It's a pity the schools don't let the kids test out.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/16/2011 8:42:37 AM)

I am looking at Cambridge's website for Latin courses since that is the method that her school teaches.  It will cost a pretty penny since it taught from England.  I wish I had that money...I also wish that Lizard with the American version since it will be closer to home.

HELP!!!!  I am tangled in yarn again!!!

I got Lizard out of school today due to many politics and other shit.  I put her on an online homeschooling site that I had checked out with the BBB (rating was A-) and in a course of a few hours, she did the entire program and has the average of 83.  Just need to paid the school off and she can go on to college next fall.

Is it accepted by ACC?

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/16/2011 6:08:55 PM)

Yes it is.  Lizard was on the phone talking to some one and she rattled off the home school accreditation faster than I can give her iced tea...  I have seen several students there who have been home schooled with the credentials.

We are looking to perhaps using the CLEP system to get extra credit out of the way.  She told me that she rather take the whole class because she would be surrounded by mature people (no wonder she was not given the right teaching method...she was surrounded by village idiots, err, I mean a system of students and teachers who were not educating people...)

She wants to keep studying Latin, so I am trying to get the 4 units that Crockett teaches.  Between Half, Ebay and half price, I might actually get the books for her.  I want the books and lessons that Cambridge in England has but even with the exchange rate, I cannot afford them.

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/17/2011 5:54:13 PM)

YAY! I have made it home.

Actually it was several hours ago that I arrived home, but it has been crazy since. It will be alright though.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/17/2011 6:41:46 PM)

She shoots...she scores!!!  Lizard will have her diploma in 2 to 4 weeks after the tuition is paid for.

I went ahead and order her Latin textbooks so she can keep up with it.  T will be helping her out since he was on the same Latin team as well.

I am trying to find a tutor for her viola lessons.

Now...just trying to get her to clean the apartment so Bo won't be so stressed out...I hope the dishwasher is empty...I got to get them done or no rocky road brownie for me...

DesFIP -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/18/2011 2:00:11 PM)

65F out there folks. Almost all the ice is off the driveway. I am feeling confident that the propane truck will be able to make it up here next week.

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/18/2011 2:11:51 PM)

I am hoping that this weather is not just a faux spring.

outhere69 -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/18/2011 4:26:04 PM)

Yeah, we're usually good for at least one more snowstorm ("close the schools style") before true spring.

Phoenixpower -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/18/2011 5:00:16 PM)

they suggested we would get snow this weekend...but so far nuffin [&o]

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/18/2011 7:30:27 PM)

So, it has been an interesting day.

Butterhead got up this morning, went to the potty and then looked into the tub stating, "It's enty." She then sat down cross-legged with her arms folded staring forlornly at the big 'enty.'

I put dinner in the crock-pot and then went on with my day. About 4:30 I went to stir it. I discovered that I had failed to turn on the crock-pot. I had been sure that I had done so first thing, before putting anything in it. I guess that it will be tomorrows dinner.

I did find a pint of mango sorbet today. So that is good.

I went out to have a smokey treat. The moon was very visible. Very pretty looking. Yet at 34 years old, I still have never seen, "the man in the moon." The moon is supposed to have a 'face' look to it. I have never been able to see it. I know that it is just the 'seas,' but I just fail to see it. It is okay, I have never been able to make those 3-D pictures work either.

Butterhead and I did have popcorn while watching an episode of, "How I Met Your Mother," and then I let her have the chocolate bar that I had got for her. She ate most of it. An entire chocolate bar is a rare occurrence. She typically only gets a Hershey Kiss, so this was a BIG treat.

I hope that everyone's day was well.

Summer is finally back inside again...I think she was outside now for about 15 hours....unbelievible....only the sound of food finally got her out of her den [8|][>:]

Now we will see if she has litter in april or not...but gosh, her date has just as bad attitude as she has...at least due to the time I am pretty convinced that nobody saw me....fighting outside with that bugger with my waterpistol [8|] As I kept coercing her to come back inside and kept defending my other ones from that cheeky buggar...he even wasnt afraid to hit his paw against my patio door window in my bedroom to scare curry with showing what a great puss he is [8|]....he had a hell of a temper [8|][>:] but shitted his fur when encountering my water pistol [:D]

anyhow, now she is grounded....she had more than enough fun for the next while [8|][>:][:)]

and colamba can put her gun safely back into the drawer [:)]

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (2/18/2011 9:19:09 PM)

Well, Aylee, at least you didn't get any rude surprises upon your return!

OK, I have a question here.  Maybe it's one of those "God, but I'm getting old" moments, but answer me this.  Since when did shiny lame (I don't have the little thingy on my keyboard that makes that "lamay") and 3-4 inch stiletto heels become business casual attire?  First of all, the girls I work with all look like they should be strolling the street in what they wear to work, I'm talking pants so tight you have to jump off the roof to get into them, sheer shirts over their bras, thongs showing when they bend over...and they do it ALOT!  But today, I had an open house for the Sheriff's office job I applied for, and OMFG!!!!  I can only imagine what they are going to wear to the interview!  And the woman wearing the silver lame shirt and shoes wasn't even club age...she was more like mid 30's.  Another young lady came in wearing a nice, if not body hugging dress in a pretty teal color, however, she was wearing 4" stiletto heels, no hose, and bright kelly green toenails!  Now, I've worn the occasional skirt w/o hose, but for interviews or job related things, I always wear nylons....no matter how HOT it is.  {sigh}

OK, I just went out in the kitchen to make a p-nut butter sammich, and had put some hamburger on to cook for some chili....15 minutes ago...happened to look down and hmmmmm...I forgot to turn it on!  So now I'm channeling Aylee!  Not that that's a bad thing....but it'd taste better cooked and not raw!
