There are few here that I read as carefully as I do you.
 
You make a good point here, but on some level, our shared history should foster the respect to give each other a little space ... for instance in the area of social differences.
 
Or perhaps it's just a difference ... we both have these feelings ... perhaps the need to express them exists on different levels, in different places - what I call the NorthernGent & meatcleaver effect, which states, "You damn Americans think you know how everyone else should live, and that pisses us off almost as much as you being unwilling to live like we know you should."
 
Or (third theory), it's a gun control issue. You guys speak your mind, because you know you are unlikely to be shot for it ... while we learn young to mind our own fucking business, because you never really know who's packing.

Definitely. We're different and that divides us, but also makes it interesting. We have so much shared history and heritage which brings us together, which leads to misunderstandings and thereby learning, against the backdrop of our differences. The key throughout is to show respect on both sides - and that goes for all of us here no matter where we're from.

I was thinking the other day about aeroplanes - what incredibly wonderful things they are, dreamt of by mankind for centuries. We get them, and we put guns and bombs on them. We have a similar wonder here in the internet and the ability to discuss life with people from all over the world in real time. Lets not put guns and bombs on the web and thereby make the same mistake twice.

Like Realone, I see the silver lining in that Blair-Bush did the masses a huge favor, becoming more transparent to the intuitive and truly open-minded.
