Status: offline 		I ask this question because when I logged off I found a statement requiring my date of birth and "signature."  I wonder how much of this information is being turned over to the government so they can track all us kinksters.

i can however tell you, i have a brother who works in IT, and records are turned over left and right to the feds. he said my head would spin if i seen what they ask for- and what his place of employment voluntarily discloses........

There are ways of fixing your harddrive.  Like, a 12 pound sledge usually fixes up the issue of urls which may be questionable.  It is the ultimate disc cleaner.

Status: offline 		Go google the Klein deposition in EFF v. AT&T. Then go read the sales flyers for the network taps referenced. The EFF has it online, so just hit their site.

It's clear from the publicly available ( unsealed ) documentation from the case that EVERY bit which transits AT&T's backbone is copied to the feds. I presume they store it, then use non-realtime data analysis tools to slice and dice as desired.

If AT&T is doing it, consider the likelyhood of other ISPs doing it on their backbones.

There's no need to look on your harddrive. All your browsing is archived anyway.

Status: offline 		Having worked for ISPs, only the major ones are capable of storing all traffic for any significant amount of time. Usually when the feds want to know something, they will come in and install their own equipment to monitor a particular person at the ISP level.

Maybe I'm paranoid..but why does Dept. of Homeland Security sound more like a branch of the SS in Nazi Germany than it does an organization to protect those living in a democracy?

funny- i been thinking that myself,.  what the heck..."homeland" ....why/so it seems we valued UNSECURITY pre 9-11 ???

in 1 regard- this is the "war on crime"   ten fold.  ---and yet another "war" that can never be measurably won.

throw in secret laws, i recall a judge telling me "ignorance is no excuse for not folllowing the law"- ok- cool- but now we have "secret laws".???

Excellent! Let’s move the current bunch of toe jam sniffers out and take over the department. I’m sure we could do a much better job. We’ll put LuckyAlbatross in charge of record keeping (she’s always excellent at looking things up). Popeye has military experience so we’ll put him in charge of the Fast Response Commando Team. Mnottertail and Gooddogbenji are always good with cleaver comebacks so we’ll put them in charge public relations. As for me, I’ll secure all our military contracts – baby needs a new yacht, if you know what I mean. I’ll leave it to others to figure out the rest of the staffing.
