Thanks, dc, I don't think I'll get bad news, but it runs in my family, so I need to check.

I've eaten some seriously unhealthy stuff today . Tomorrow, I go at 8:30 AM to get tested for diabetes. Come the new year, I'm going on a 75% raw food diet-- I'm dedicating 2007 to getting my health under control, big time.

Yippee!!!  Someone else making this change.  I have read a lot about this the past year or so, and when I was vegan I pretty much was 100% raw, or close to it.  I felt so much better and healthier..and had energy to burn.

I have went back to studying it again now and am trying to figure out the best route back.  I look forward to a lot healthier new year, with great skin, bundles of energy for play, and a nice more toned body to enjoy.

I wish you a lot of luck in it... I bought Carol Alt's "Raw Foods" book, and it was pretty helpful.  I wasn't crazy about the raw meat part, but other than that it gave some good advice.  There are some new ones out also and some great websites.....

but I am sure you know that already..lol.  Preaching to the choir...

Level,

Can you email me on the other side about this raw food diet?  Sounds interesting.  Can I google it?

Merry Christmas and lean New Year!  Good luck with the test.

Ya didn't ask me, but I had a few websites I thought I would put out there for you and anyone else interested.

They are full of pretty good info, and your local library probably also has some good books on it.

Hey K, nooooo, I don't intend on the raw meat stuff either LOL.... but I think Alt has a lot of good things to say otherwise, too.

Hi bandit . I'll be happy to send you some info, and yes, you can get lots of good stuff through Google. I'm about to hop in the shower, so it'll be this evening before I can mail you. Merry Christmas to you too, good lady.

It really doesn't matter what you eat. It's HOW MUCH that counts.

If you consume more calories than you burn you'll maintain or gain weight.
If you pour a gallon of water in a 5 gal. bucket everyday and drink 3 quarts the
bucket will get full, slowly for sure, but full none the less.

It really is that simple but that doesn't mean easy. In fact we all know that it's
damned difficult to lose weight.

Complicating the matter is we HAVE to eat to live. We don't NEED to smoke or drink
to live. I've been sober and smoke free for 23 years and I haven't died yet. But without
food 7 weeks is about tops.

Inactivity is the main culprit and its partner is technology.  WE need to develop ways
to increase activity so our metabolism maintains a minus sum game until we reach an
optimum weight and then a zero sum game to maitain.

It's all about choice. I can eat anything I want, any time, any day IF I'm willing to pay
the price.

Now I dearly love peanut butter. I had it for lunch everyday for 4 years in high school.
I weighed 145 at 6'. I was very active. Walked a mile to & from school every day,
ran track etc.

But now I gain weght just looking at the stuff. I still eat peanut butter but only once
a year or less.  Most of time I choose NOT to eat PB. At first I had to make that choice
on a daily basis, now it's automatic.

It's like fighting acoholism. TODAY I choose not to drink, TODAY I choose not to smoke,
TODAY I choose not to eat PB. Tday it's no longer a concientous choice and I would have
to make a concious choice to drink, smoke or eat PB.

Our inactivity can reach a level that reducing coloric intake intake is not enough.

I can hear some of you say "but I AM active". My question then is are you still overweight?
IF yes, you're not active enough. Put more walking into your daily routine.

Take the stairs - yes it'll kill ya - but you'll get used to it.
Park where your car is all alone.
Take a walk after eating 15-20 min

During the Christmas season eat what you want just in smaller quantities or skip seconds
or skip thirds if you're a 3 plater. DON"T give it up just CHOOSE to eat less. Choose not to
nibble.

Ok, OK I'll quit here. Contact me off the boards if you want to continue wit a dialogue.

Well gawd - who said this was about health food?  I'm just enjoying food lately.  Hey! Does raw hamburger meat count with that raw diet?  Co i looooooooove raw hamburger meat.  Unfortunetly i cant eat it these days.  ::sigh::

I loooooooveeeeee sushi too!! hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm  Unfortunetly my normal supplier has done something TERRIBLE to my sushi and i can barely stomach it.

So how did it go with the doc Level??

:ALOT of the food here sounds soooooooooo good.  I like RumTiger's meal.  Yum.  All you sugar freaks!  I dunno how you injest that much sugar from pancakes and syrup and ect.  Woooo!

Today i have eaten very little = (  Fruit2o (which is water with like 10 minerals and vitamins in it and flavored Watermelon!) a handful of cheerios and some chocolate.  I seem to have a thing for chocolate today which is rather odd as i rarely eat a whole box - i rarely eat any.  But it was good.  Oh and a Yoo Hoo!  I'm about to go out and run to subway to grab a roast beef sub.  With the cheese bread - mayo- mustard - pickles - cucumbers - tomato - lettuce - onion and MAYBE some green peppers.

doesnt that sound yummy?

Sooooooooooooo whatcha all eating today?

Well, the dude taking my blood left me with a walnut sized bruise on my arm, but other than that, it was okay, rg. I won't find out the results until Friday, though.
