SpiceGuy - you got it! The (not so) hidden clue of EZ was to refer to Erte' taking initials (in French of ET) as his production name.  The quartet was birth names of designers of 1st half of 20th century.  (Georges Briard had a fascinating life involving the Polish aristocracy, lots of money, Chicago - my home town - WWII and Germany.)

Go ahead!

Next quartet:

Allspice
Cinnamon
Clove
Star Anise

Spices used in pumpkin pie?

spiceguy2009 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/5/2009 9:00:07 AM)

Lance, very funny, but no.

DC, never heard of star anise in pumpkin pie, but on the right track, they are ingredients

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/5/2009 9:04:04 AM)

Let's see... Star Anise is a seed pod as is clove, Cinnamon is a bark, and Allspice is a nut (like nutmeg) - how 'bout woody plant pieces used as spices?

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/5/2009 9:04:05 AM)

Me neither, but I figured it was worth a try.

spiceguy2009 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/5/2009 9:06:19 AM)

Lance, see my previous answer.

CLUE: Ingredients in a specific recipe.

Thant is the only clue I am going to give, especially considering the time of year.

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/5/2009 9:06:31 AM)

Typed too fast.... missed clue as to ingredients - how 'bout "Spices for mulled wine"?

mnottertail -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/5/2009 9:09:16 AM)

they are all used in some wine mulling recipies. they are all located in at least semi-tropical climates (I belive ceylon would be semi tropical) vietnam, the carrib and so on.

Glaedilig Jule.
