One of the works involved did exactly that, went from film to TV with the same theme. Another one was only TV, and the others were only movies. AND........crap, I just realized I meant Gregory Peck, not Cary Grant in hint #2. OK.......... Updated hint....here are the characters those actors played in the relevant works: Mike Hagan (Gregory Peck) Dan Rydell (Josh Charles) Casey McCall (Peter Krause) Bob Whipple (Esteban Powell) Oscar Madison (Walter Matthau/Jack Klugman) OK...that should do it! [sorry about the Grant/Peck confusion...sigh...no more late nights for me...I apologize] Look at their roles---this is a major hint. (done in 1957, 1968/1970 (film/TV), 1998, 2006/2007 (conflicting sources, same title--I'm looking at the 2007 one, if that helps), with our quartet of composers: Neal Hefti Jessika Zen André Previn W. G. Snuffy Walden) It's much simpler than it probably seems at this point.

All scored for "The Odd Couple" - I was almost there, but the "roles" hint locked it in for me, especially after corrected. LOL!

Only one scored for The Odd Couple, but that show shares a common feature with the other three works that points directly to the solution for this quartet. [P.S.--The Odd Couple was also the one that went from film to TV with the same theme and composer. Not really relevant to the quartet solution, but may ward off following false leads.] Look at the role of Oscar Madison, and compare it to the other roles listed in the hint. The final piece to this quartet is found there.

Now you got me going crazy.... I think the Peck role in the 1957 file "Designing Woman" was Mike HagEn, not Hagan. How that relates to the role of Oscar Madison is not too clear.... well, as clear as mud. LOL! And why "we" are being directed to the roles, when the quartet is scorers is even less clear.... maybe "clear as dirt" applies.

Well, I've discovered HagEn is a sports writer; we all know Oscar is.... so I'll just assume that's the case for the other two.... So the quartet scored for TV/movies in which the main male lead was a sports writer? Bleah... and I thought "Euler's Identity" was obscure.....

It was more of a struggle than I thought, yes. But...that's why they call them puzzles. The sportswriter angle is readily apparent from a quick glance at each work's web pages from a Google search. It just needed someone to notice, or at least piece it together. I figured folks would get "The Odd Couple" quickly, maybe "Sports Night" too, and then it would fall into place. Immune to a quick Google search, but doable as a unique quartet (vs. quartets with a wide range of things in common). But anyway, yes, you have it-- Composers who scored works that featured sportswriters as major characters: Neal Hefti -- "The Odd Couple" (1968/1970) -- Oscar Madison (Matthau/Klugman) Jessika Zen -- "Bunny Whipped" (2007) -- Bob Whipple (Esteban Powell) André Previn -- "Designing Woman" (1957) -- Mike Hagen (Gregory Peck) W. G. Snuffy Walden -- "Sports Night" (1998) -- Dan Rydell (Josh Charles) and Casey McCall (Peter Krause) If you haven't seen it, btw, Walden has really tasty guitar work on "Sports Night," the show Aaron Sorkin wrote for two years before turning his attention to "West Wing." Whew!! Just goes to show that the author of the quartet has difficulty judging the difficulty..... LOL! Dolly Madison Kellogg's General Mills Nabisco Clue #1 - NOT unique, but maybe only 10 or 12 food/beverage manufacterers could have been chosen to make up this quartet. These four were selected to make this quartet difficult..... but, see first sentence. LOL! Clue #1 anna half - Google-proof? NOT! Type in the quartet and it shows the answer. So try to come at it from a different angle, okay?

I really am not sure, but I don't think Dolly Madison started as a health cure. LOL In any instance what we're looking for is NOT a commonality of product, people, nor place! Dolly Madison Kellogg's General Mills Nabisco Clue #3: Re-read clue #1 as if it were standing alone.
