Please, anyone...Have you heard usage of the word "joi" as a name or term for a sub?
I was introduced to someone and was told she was "joi" and I assumed it was her name.  Now I am being told that it is a generic term for a submissive.
The only reference I can find is to a dominant.

Was I lied to?

No, "joi" is not a French word.  ("Joie" would mean "joy.")

I have no idea what it's supposed to mean.  I just Googled it, and all I got was "Jupiter Orbit Insertion."  I have a feeling that's not what she meant.

Could she have meant "boi?"  The lesbian leather folks use the term "boi" for a butch submissive.

This is a new term for me as well.  Perhaps you might ask that person if you get the chance?  I'd definately be interested to know.

Or maybe, it is pretty dead on because it appears that this individual is orbiting out there somewhere around Jupiter.

If someone is gonna start making up new terms in an already muddled up realm of misunderstood &/or distorted meanings then they most likely have rather lofty ideas of themselves.

I did a few more google searches & found "joie de vivre" most often spelled incorrectly with "joi" & in it's incorrect form it is linked to mentions of the word submissive.

If it is a newly created term for some type of specialized sub it is another internet creation just starting to pop up.

Now that seems like a likely possibility.

Well, you all have pretty much let me know that, Yes, I was lied to...again.

The person that was chatting with me, referred to a close friend submissive friend, as 'joi'.  Had the submissive IM me to chat, and more or less give him a reference.  A good one, I might add.
Three weeks further into our online 'relationship', I referred to 'Joi" and he was confused.  When I asked to whom was it that I chatted with, he said that 'joi' is a generic D's term given to a submissive that "won't commit and carries her master on her sleeve".  No just what the hell does that mean? (purely rhetorical)
Methinks...I've been had.  Imagine that?  Lied to on the internet. LOL

Even this term has taken on new form...

From my earliest recollection the word boi was used by women who are male identifying.

Now it seems that more genetic men use it than the male-identifying women do...

I've heard about the "boi" and "Syr" terms for butch lesbians (that sounds so derogatory....really not meant to be!)....switching the vowels for females assuming masculinity (which is a weird way to say that, too).

Anyway....maybe her real name is Joy, and is she's taking a butch submissive role (God, I hate these terms! lol) she's spelling it "joi"?   Just a theory.

Edited to add:   Okay, this posted after pattiann's last post.....thanks for letting us know, pattiann!   (Sounds like another new term for "wanna-be" or "gamer", bestowed by the rejected one!)
