FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Cornerback Asante Samuel and the New England Patriots failed to agree on a multiyear contract Monday, setting the stage for a possible holdout.
Samuel, coming off the best of his four seasons, can only play for the $7.79 million tender offer the Patriots made when they designated him as their franchise player. He skipped the team's mandatory minicamp last month and has said he intends to hold out until the 10th week of the regular season.

The club made no transactions on Monday, team spokesman Stacey James said. Samuel's agent, Alonzo Shavers, did not respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

The deadline for franchise players to reach a multiyear contract was Monday at 4 p.m. EDT. Now the two sides are not allowed to agree to one until after the season. Had the Patriots not placed the franchise tag on him, Samuel could have become an unrestricted free agent and they would not be compensated if he signed elsewhere.

Samuel, 26, tied Champ Bailey of Denver for the NFL regular-season lead with 10 interceptions last season. Samuel also has three interception returns for touchdowns in the playoffs, tying him with former Oakland Raider Willie Brown for the NFL record.

The general sentiment around here is A$$ante $amuel will sit out until game 10.
I know A$$ante could get the money he wants, but he is a risk and not worth Champ Bailey dollars, IMO. I have been a big fan of A$$ante, but he really didn't get any rhythm going until last year. He was mediocre at best prior to last season.
He had/has a nickname up here " 5 yard $amuel " cuz was always 5 yards plus from covering his recievers. < prior to last year >

Hi mb....... yes, we now have Atlanta's former #2 QB. I don't know what they'll do if Vick sinks.

Maybe go with:

MIAMI (AP) - Daunte Culpepper finally has what he asked the Miami Dolphins for weeks ago — a chance to start over with a new team.
Miami released the former Pro Bowl quarterback Tuesday, wrapping up a contentious split between player and team. The move came one day before a breach-of-contract grievance filed by the NFL Players Association on Culpepper's behalf against the Dolphins was scheduled to be heard, and after Miami unsuccessfully tried for weeks to trade the 30-year-old.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7032344?MSNHPHMA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones is hoping his suspension doesn't keep him out of training camp or preseason games, his agent said Tuesday.
Agent Michael Huyghue said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell never ruled out training camp or preseason games when he suspended the cornerback for the 2007 season for his off-field conduct. Jones can have his case reviewed after the Titans' 10th game.

"Now we're optimistic that Pac will get to participate in training camp and play in preseason games," Huyghue said. "We don't want to get ahead of ourselves. That's a determination the commissioner is going to make."

A message to the NFL was not immediately returned Tuesday. The Titans did not respond to messages seeking comment. They have declined to comment on Jones since June 20, when Las Vegas authorities announced they were charging the cornerback with two felony counts of coercion.

Jones dropped his appeal of the suspension June 12, and Huyghue said the commissioner has allowed Jones to visit the Titans more than the once-weekly visit in the original suspension

Culpepper may be a good temp. fit in Atlanta... hmmm.. will have to think about that.

We still have Testeverde as our # 3 QB.  Do you think we can get a first rounder for him ?

Yep, send Culpepper to Atlanta, looks like they're gonna need a qb.

On the nfl network they are projecting that Culpepper will probably end up in Jacksonville.

Here's some potential QBs:

Looks like Aaron Brooks and Chris Weinke are the "best" ones

Behind Vick are Joey Harrington and Chris Redman. Harrington can do a decent job if need be, and lean heavy on the running game. Maybe, if the team is healthy, the Falcons could go 7-9.

Katy: this one's for you !   I highlighted the * spawns * due date for you !

All's not well with Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady. While the two have put up a happy front for the cameras - and his family is even said to be flying out to Italy to spend time at the villa in Rome she recently acquired - our spies say Bundchen is upset that Brady's ex, Bridget Moynahan, is due to give birth to Brady's son on Friday- Bundchen's birthday. The tension has grown so intense that the couple fought openly in front of hotel guests in Napa while staying at the five-star Auberge du Soleil.

Oh, the baby is due on the girlfriend's birthday.  Too funny.  First babies rarely arrive on time....unless it's a scheduled induction!

I didn't know that either. I hope the little bundle of joy IS born on the due date. I cannot stomach Giselle.
When I get a link to the congratulatory e mail to Brady, I will send you a link. I know you wouldn't want to miss it.

Remember Jeff Thomason? The retired TE who was working construction in NY and got a call from the Eagles the year they played the Pats in the SB ?
Maybe Atlanta can go a Google search and pull out something better than what is available.

Giselle is gonna steal a baby and tell Tom it's their's. I feel it coming on...... then she's going to start wearing several pounds of makeup, chain-smoking Camels, and have long, dirty fingernails.  She crazy.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was fined nearly $150,000 by the NFL for his part in a Las Vegas scuffle with another player.

The team said Friday that Porter has to pay $141,176 — three game checks — for punching Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones on March 18 after a disagreement in the Palms hotel-casino. Porter pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and paid a $1,000 fine in May.

Would you believe that Tampa talked to Culpepper.  How many qbs do they need?

Looks Like Glenn may be retiring and all they have is a rookie to replace him. Peyton Manning may spend a little more time in the grass this season than he is used to .

No news on Baby Brady yet.
