Did they ever finish drilling that tunnel under the river?

Nope. I go past it everyday on my way to work. A bridge.. or tunnel... that goes to no where. Not expected to be completed till 2013, according to the gentelmen at Port Authority.

Port Authority spending $20,000 to study the parking situation, they are well aware of that issue.

So they are cutting neighborhoods out of the system, no longer servicing some at all with buses, but Port Authority believes this money is better spent on a feasibility study for more seats at a sporting event???? Incredible.

What a folly. I grew up about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Fond memories of walking across the Ninth Street Bridge in February going to tech school.

Not.[:'(]

GO PACK!!

I misspoke.  It is the Stadium Authority that is paying $20,000 to study parking on the North Shore, not the Port Authority.

Hard to say that NYJ and KC are both going to be one-and-done because they're probably going to play each other in the first round.

I kinda think it's going to be Ravens-Patriots in the AFC Championship, and Saints-Packers in the NFC.  Not ready to pick more than that, although, again, my preseason Super Bowl pick was Ravens-Packers, and it's still possible.  And yes, I think the two NFC wild-card teams look the strongest right now.  The Saints would probably have to go play the Bears in Chicago in the divisional round, but I think they're a much better team than the Bears, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

NYJ, KC, NFC WEST Victor, and NO are one-and-done. (Hard to predict this accurately because the matchups are not out yet.) I do think that BAL and the NYJ can knock out both IND and KC. IND, however, might send BAL home out the gate.

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/30/2010 7:08:05 AM)

I just took a stab at it, and I have no idea what's going to happen. The only thing that would surprise me at this point of the season would be an early exit by NE.

Its going to take some luck and good fortune for a team to make the SB beyond NE.

Before the Saints game, the BAL Sun was pointing out the statistic that that John Harbaugh was 1-10 v. teams with SB winning QBs. Now the stat reads 2-10.

The rules and the league favor the passing teams -- it would be a minor miracle if either the JETS or the Ravens made the SB. Stopping NE or IND on 3rd down can easily be nullified by either a holding, PI, or roughing the passer penalty.

Maybe for solidarity's sake, I will switch my prediction to: the AFC wild cards will advance into the next round, sending IND and KC home. BUT, the poor wild card teams do have to win on the road. Winning at KC or IND is very difficult.

BAL's chances will increase significantly if PITT loses to CLE and BAL beats CIN. I put the odds of this happening at 25%. CLE is not an effective passing team and it won't be able to run the ball v. PITT.

I don't exactly understand why standing on the sideline is "cheating."  Tripping a player--sure, that's cheating.  But just standing on the sideline?  It's kinda BS.

Anywhoooo...  Tonight I watched the Franklin American Mortgage Corporation Music City Bowl (or whatever the fuck it's called), and, God damn, you don't have to watch a lot of college football to see why the NFL is so much better.  North Carolina beat Tennessee in double-overtime, but if there were any justice in the world NEITHER team would have won.  Putrid, putrid performances by both of them.  And they really need the ten-second-runoff rule in college.  It's asinine that you can just spike the ball even if your team is in total disarray, and take the 5-yard penalty and stop the clock.  If you try that nonsense in the NFL, the game is OVAH.

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/30/2010 10:50:23 PM)

Dang!!! And i turned off the game when the official said the game was over!!!

If you cant guess, im a huge Tarheel fan! even i am shocked they won!

Most of the fine is for the tripping. The " wall " part that violated league rules was Alosi having inactve players standing on a part of the sideline they aren't allowed to stand in. When you look at Pats tapes, or any other teams, and compare it to the " wall " video of the Jets, you will see players, helmets on getting ready to take the field, coaches aren't shoulder to shoulder, toe to toe. Hence: violating rules= cheating.

As for Westhoff: You can't make random public acusations against another team. The league rule is that you have to go thru the Commish. It's called Integrity of the Game rule. Al Davis got a warning because of similar stuff a few years back and a memo was sent to all teams. Again: Rule violation=cheating.

As I said on another MB, if Westhoff, Ryan and the Jets organization just learn to zip it and take a page out of BB's book half this mess would have been over. They all should have addressed any questions about Tripgate with a : we're moving on to Pittsburgh. Any questions about the game against Pittsburgh this week ? no ? Ok thank you. While many don't like BB, answering any question about a scandel will be twisted by the media and only make things worse.

Look, I was messin with ya in my previous post. I've invited others to sit on the " cheaters bench ". Way back on some page in this thread I called my own team " Cheaters, cheaters, Pumpkin Eaters " during the Spygate I episode. Given my own team's " stain on the NFL ", I don't take all this stuff as seriously as others, of course I've had a few years to deal with it.

Ya got nothing to worry about. Spygate I is, and always will be, the Grandaddy of the cheater, cheater, pumkin eater world. Embrace the hate, put an asterick next to your nic, shout out a big ol GFY to me and anyone else who fingerpoints and you will be just fine. If ya ain't cheating, you ain't trying shuts them up pretty quick too.[;)]

It had something to do with the lining them up there as well standing in the area they weren't supposed to be.

They are being held responsible for the actions of their coach.  I think they all got off easy.

Edited to add:

There was another incident in another game which I can't remember and they got off  with almost nothing.  That's the part that was wrong.  They should have been strung as well.

And it just keeps getting uglier for the Jets. I saw the pics on another MB and the guy they are referring to bares a striking resemblance to Darrelle Revis. Could be photoshopped, who knows.
