The Packers took the Giants to school today. One more to go, Bears at Green Bay next Sunday. We neede a win to get us in the playoffs. Big disappointment tonight. Vikings / Eagles postponed because of snow and wind. Damm global warming.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/26/2010 5:31:53 PM)

Yep, postponement, not to mention the fact that some teams are stranded where they played today, unable to get flights because of the snowstorm.

Some other teams also in:  Chiefs, Eagles

Playoffs should be great this season.

The Giants will be spending the night in Appleton, WI. , population 72,000.. They should have a real good time after that loss this afternoon.

NFL.com announces that the 49ers fired Mike Singletary:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81d3cf1a/article/singletary-fired-after-49ers-eliminated-from-playoff-contention?module=HP_headlines

I actually watched some of yesterday's game, and was baffled by the QB change late. Guess the owners were too??

He might know football, but his people skills are lacking. I could see this one coming.

Since the team mentioned several weeks ago they were working on a candidate list for his replacement at the end of the season, that's quite a prediction.  Can you get me last week's winning lottery numbers while you're at it?

The Broncos WON a game.  Woohoo!  I'd forgotten what it felt like.

The Broncos won more times than the Panthers ~grumbles~ My only consolation is that they were not expected to win.

What is your Tim Tebow assessment?

-----

My NFL week 15 observations are:

(1) GB looked frighteningly unstoppable v. the NYG. Aaron Rogers is scary good, as is Clay Mathews. All of their losses have been by four (4) points or less.

(2) May of the SB favorites have frighteningly good aerial attacks: GB, NE, NO, PHI, and IND. The more balanced teams have good QBs at the helm: PITT, BAL, ATL. KC, CHI, and the NYJ have X-factors at QB.

(3) The ground game will only aid BAL, NYJ, ATL, or KC (who all need to run the ball) if they are out front of their opponents in the second half of a playoff game. A sixty minute ground game approach will not likely propel any of these teams into the SB, but cold weather conditions might help aid these teams v. pass oriented teams.

(4) NE, GB, IND, and PITT have the best established coaching staffs.

(5) My SB prediction is:

NE defeats PITT to win the AFC crown.

PHI defeats GB to win the NFC crown.

NE defeats PHI to win the whole thing.

ATL and BAL are my long shots to sneak in unexpectedly.

NYJ, KC, NFC WEST Victor, and NO are one-and-done. (Hard to predict this accurately because the matchups are not out yet.) I do think that BAL and the NYJ can knock out both IND and KC. IND, however, might send BAL home out the gate.

What was going on with the face wiping while Singletary was losing it?  Is that a "hey calm down" thing or what?  I know they are teammates from college.

Steelers are entering into a feasible study to expand Heinz Field by 4,000 seats.

servantforuse -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/27/2010 7:01:30 PM)

Hey Cloudboy..The Pack has to beat Chicago next Sunday to be assured of getting in the playoffs. If that happens we will likely play them again in the first playoff game.. Not worried about Philly. We already beat them at their house..

More seats the general public cant afford.. lol.. and where are they going to park? Even the casino is charging for Steeler parking. Between the new hotels, the Sports Center and there is talk of a casino hotel... there just isnt room.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/28/2010 4:02:28 AM)

Port Authority spending $20,000 to study the parking situation, they are well aware of that issue.

DomImus -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/28/2010 6:24:21 AM)

Did they ever finish drilling that tunnel under the river?

I forgot to add GO BROWNS.
