KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/28/2010 1:35:22 PM)

Steelers in OT, against 2-8 Buffalo, oh yes.

DarkSteven -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/28/2010 1:57:49 PM)

*Sigh*... just to make sure that this season is the one from hell for Denver, now it turns out that an assistant Broncos coach was taping the visiting team a la Belichik. And head coach Josh McDaniels knew about it, knew how serious it was, and didn't do anything about it (best case.  Worst case is he authorized it).  He just got fined $50K.

McDaniels probably was on his way out anyway, but this seals it.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/28/2010 2:50:11 PM)

Yep, but I do not understand how taping practice makes a difference when they get to review all of the game films anyway, I guess it's about learning the signals?

woohoo, Steelers received a gift from Buffalo today,

I suppose so.  I'm reading some comments in the Denver Post article about this, about how the Broncos were able to predict the Chief's plays in their surprise blowout win at home.  If there's any truth to that and it can be proved, then McDaniels was fully aware and lied to his organization and the NFL.and he's toast.  And if I were Goodell, I'd award a default win to the Chiefs for that game, and penalize the Broncos some draft picks.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/28/2010 3:21:04 PM)

It is all very Pats incestuous stuff.  Peoli is at KC now, McDaniels at Denver. it's like the 7 degrees of separation game for Belichick.

flcouple2009 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/28/2010 3:29:19 PM)

I don't think the McDaniels or the Broncos are going to receive anything else in the way of punishment.

I have to say in his position I would have been sorely tempted to lose the tape in the trash, bitch out the person who did it,  and threaten him to never speak of it again rather than run to the NFL and say, "Hey look what I've got".

Keep your chin up DS.[:D]  I suffered thru the whole Spygate thing, as ugly as it was. Came out just fine after a period of mourning.  I am a real Football message board junkie and during the Spygate thing it was tough. But most of us Patsfans just posted a simple " GFY " to any digs about the incident. < and " GFY " doesn't mean " good for you "[;)] > There's not a whole lot you can say and you can't stop loving the team you have supported your entire life.

Feel free to join me and Aynne on the Cheaters Bench anytime!  I make a little Welcome Wagon basket full of cookies and fudge for the newbies. There's one with your name on it and I'm keeping a spot warm for you !

mbmbn, keep in mind that when NE was outed, it was the monster of the NFL.  That makes it easier to bear.  The Broncos, even WITH the cheating, are getting to the point where they'll be told to play with college teams instead of the NFL.

Like all-girl colleges.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/29/2010 9:08:28 AM)

I'm not feeling too good about Jets-Patriots next Monday night. Up and down the roster, I think the Jets have more talent, but they're not playing as well as I would have expected. Meanwhile fucking Brady keeps picking defenses apart.

There's not much else you can say in support of a coach who is a cheating douchebag.

I'm not very confident on this end either. I like our chances, but I easily see the Jets being able to pull it off too. I don't think there is a clear cut stronger team in this match up.

I guess all we can hope for is a good clean knock down drag out game; and the better team that shows up that night deserves to win.

Cheers, LAM ! Are you having a MNF party ? I have a housefull coming over and will be cooking and prepping all day.

Would love to be watching that game with mbmbn & LAM, fun times.  Please be sure to watch the *other* game that weekend...Sunday night football Steelers at Ravens, could go either way, I am a bit scared.  Hold me.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/30/2010 2:27:14 PM)

I have to go with the Ravens, but I'd rather hold KatyLied than cloudboy!

Crazy that the best four teams in all of football are playing each other on the same weekend.  (And it's kinda because they're all in the AFC...)

You betcha I will be watching that game. Gotta keep my eye on who we might meet up with in the PO. Assuming that " we " and " they " get in.

Did you like BB before Spygate ?
Not being a smartass here, but the way I see it..... those who depised him before Spygate got more ammo to despise him, those who respected/loved him forgave him or don't see it as the horrendous evil that the dislikers do. Just my 2 cents.

I respected him as a good coach and as an honest competitor. He has shown that he is still the former and no longer the latter.

My two cents.

DomImus -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/30/2010 3:52:08 PM)

So, a question was raised on ESPN earlier - some sports talk show. "Should a below .500 team be allowed in the playoffs?". They noted that a few years ago the 8-8 Chargers went while the 11-5 Patriots did not (I'm just quoting them). I guess one division has the possibilty this year to send a below .500 team to the playoffs. The two talking heads were split on the question.

What do you think? I say if you win your weak division even with a losing record you get to go to the playoffs.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/30/2010 5:15:36 PM)

I remember that year, DI. It sucked, cuz we had lost Brady and Cassell did such an amazing job with little playing time either in college, and if I remember correctly, never having taken a snap in the NFL.
BUT, thems the rules and I agree, winning within the division gets you to the PO. I would not be miffed if the rules changed at some time, but I would prefer they stay the same. Other than that, why have divisions at all ? < rhetorical >

And thanx for your answer to my question.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/30/2010 6:22:13 PM)

I like the division set up, even though it may bring some awkward, weak teams to the playoff table.  I enjoy some of the divisional rivalries because they are the best football.  In a strong division it makes it exciting for the fans.

kdsub -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (12/1/2010 9:28:38 AM)

I remember a .500 baseball team that squeaked into the playoffs from a weak division… The Kansas City Royals… Then they ended up beating my beloved St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.

Myself I liked the old days before playoffs…in both football and baseball… The team with the best record goes to the championship game period…but money talks I guess.
