Katy, I agree that there are likely worse players in the league, but the difference I see is that Goodell is trashing his prior position of protecting the image and integrity of the league by letting Vick return. I do believe that if the NFL hadn't spent so much time and energy hyping this mediocre-at-best QB (yeah he's very athletic, but is quite underwhelming as a passer) into one of the so-called "faces" of the NFL we'd have never heard of him again. Kind of like the difference between Ray Lewis (star) and Ray Carruth (average).

I thought we were making progress when the Pacman Jones thing(s) happened and the commish handled it by saying you can't do those kinds of behaviors and remain in the league. Apparently though what he forgot to add was a big "unless you become someone we want to promote"

Dallas got rid of it's very own probation officer? AND their parole officer?  WOW, they must really be cleaning house!    *winks*

No, we got rid of the reasons we would need probation and/or parole officers. [>:]

Just drove through that mess... lol... the steelers better win for making me have to take an extra hour just to get passed the stadium!

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/13/2009 6:24:36 PM)

tazzy, wouldn't you be happier being a Cowboys fan? [8D]

Vick signs with the Eagles!

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/13/2009 8:11:27 PM)

LOL.. im a Panthers fan!!! and living in steeler country.. god help me!

and the Steelers won!!

TahoeSadist -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/19/2009 6:29:11 AM)

And so Brett Favre signs with the Vikings. My personal take is that that was what he had been angling for once the Packers tired of his offseason drama and decided to move ahead with Rodgers. I think it's a dumb move for the Vikings, as it's not very likely that he'll last the 2 years of the contract, and then who's their next QB? The guy they just dissed by bringing in a 40  year old relic?

The Seahawks are looking bad this year.

The good kind of bad. [8D]

Everyone's looking healthy, and they can run, and the can pass, and they can tackle... just name it.

I'm excited!

DarkSteven -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/29/2009 7:34:17 PM)

The Broncos are falling apart.  They finally fired Shanahan, who managed to get consistently poor results from damn good players for years.  Then they lost Jay Cutler, their marquee QB, to Chicago.  Finally, the star receiver, Brandon Marshall, is throwing tantrums and demanding a trade and got pulled from the preseason as a punishment.

It's gonna be a LONG season.  With no postseason.  Again.

Sanity -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/29/2009 7:51:54 PM)

Things could be worse. I just heard that the Raiders, who the Seahawks play this coming Thursday night, are down 31 - 0 vs. New Orleans.

DarkSteven -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/29/2009 8:01:13 PM)

Hey, Sanity, don't say "things could be worse" until we see if the Broncos can actually WIN over the Raiders this year.  They get two shots at it...

How could Al Davis go from such a sharp guy to such a moron?

That happens fairly frequently as a person passes the age of 140.

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/4/2009 8:40:57 PM)

Time for some preseason predictions.

Pundits pick Chris Henry of the Bengals to have a breakout season for CIN.

Besides that, I think the Brady to Moss connection will be huge and its possible NE will finish as high as 15-1 or 14-2.

Flacco will have a very good second season in BAL.

PITT is now more of a passing team than a running one -- and its fearsome defense from last year returns intact.

The NFC looks lackluster to me again, so the SB winner will come from the AFC.

I'm curious to see if LT in SD can return to form.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming season.

Anyone know if LaM will begin posting again?

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/10/2009 8:51:45 PM)

And the Steelers win in overtime... 13 - 10. a bit close!

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/10/2009 9:17:05 PM)

That game was prima facia evidence against extending the regular season to 18 games. A pundit on ESPN noted that PITT is no longer a running team anymore, and they certainly had no running game v. TN.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/12/2009 5:12:15 AM)

Pitt needs to find a way to get the running game back.  Sad.

Yes, but they meant from prison. [X(]

New England cruises in the East, despite fucking over Richard Seymour.
Pittsburgh maintains in the North, again struggling against a fierce Baltimore team.
Tennessee overtakes Indy in the South.
San Diego wins an abyssmal West.

The Giants hang on, and I mean barely, over a vastly improved Philly, and my Cowboys.
Minnesota wins the Norse division, even after Brett Favre's colostomy bag gets flattened at Lambeau.
Carolina wins the South, as New Orleans D once again lets the offense down.
Seattle takes the West, despite a resurgent 49er squad.

Eli Manning, overpaid.
Richard Seymour (as mentioned), fucked by getting shipped to Oakland.
Eric Mangini, fed to the wolves in the Dog Pound.
A Rams defense begins to move beyond the league laughingstock, as young stars take to new coach Steve Spagnola's system.
Jack Del Rio gets canned in Jacksonville.
Tampa Bay flirts with being the first team since, uh, Detroit last year, to lose every game.
Detroit does not lose every game, just most of them.
Demarcus Ware wins NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Rex Ryan turns the Jets into one of the league's elite.
Knowshon Moreno and Pat White duel for Rookie of the Year, White edges him out.

Pats meet the Giants again in the Super Bowl, and don't blow it this time.

Easy, there's a reason why the team is called the Traitors for a reason - they've never been the same after their little stint down south. Southern living softened them. I remember when they used to be one of the toughest teams in the NFL. Gods, their games were fun to watch, more fights than a fight card! But after L.A.? Nope......

My bright spot for the season is that the 49'ers kept Singletary as coach. YA, BABY!!!!!!!!  We're gonna rock this year! [:D]
