Rain, back then, the Raiders fought a lot (and not always just against the opposing team lol), but they were also damned good players. Now, except for 4 or 5 guys, I wouldn't want any of them on my team. Davis could find just the right guy to fill in a hole for a year or two, now? Too many holes, too many misses. They are screwed!

I agree about Singletary. He was always one of my absolute favorite players, and I have tremendous confidence that he'll become a fine coach, if given a chance
.

Rainfire -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/12/2009 7:36:19 AM)

He already is showing his great colours as coach, Level. Look at the Niners record last season BEFORE Singletary and then when they brought him on board. I'm really looking forward to seeing great things from him and the team this year. I don't quite expect the Super Bowl this year but at least I have hopes for it again. [;)]

As for the Traitors, errrrrr, Raiders, I was born in the Bay Area and the rivalry between the Niners and Raiders was legendary. Any more, it's just an institution. If we weren't at a Niner's game at Candlestick, then we were watching one of the teams, if not both, on TV.  [:D]  (And people wonder how I got to be such a rabid football fan.....)

Katy, if my pick comes true, I'm sure Jack (and his sport coat) will head PA way [;)]

Yes, please send the cleaned up, a la Reebok business suit Jack Del Rio.  Oh yes.

Waves back to Stella!  I hope all is well in your world.

I'd make a lot of predictions, but barring major injuries (the "out" I have in case I'm wrong) only one prediction need be made:

The Super Bowl will be won by the winner of the New England-Pittsburgh playoff game (which ever round it occurs....more than likely the AFC Championship)

My little Patriots heart is full of joy today !

NFL fines Jets, Mangini for Favre coverup
The NFL assessed $125,000 in fines to the New York Jets [team stats] and former coach Eric Mangini today for violating the league’s rules on injury reporting with former quarterback Brett Favre last season.

Mr. Mangina: Your chickens are coming home to roost !

And Lord Favre throws yet another former team under the bus... what a total piece of shit that guy has turned into.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/16/2009 3:58:08 PM)

Can't stomach Mr. Retirement, but I have to thank him for his little indescretion this one time.[:D]

What I LOVE about this story is: Tannenbaum fully admits that the Jets were wrong not to list Favre, and Mangina says he didn't do anything wrong. Completely denies any culpibility. He is a  POS, always has been < long before Spygate>.

Yeah, the Jets definitely got what was coming  to them, no question about it. And Favre skates away untouched, once again completely oblivious to the effect his actions have on the people around him. Definitely not defending Mangini and Tannenbaum here; just shaking my head at Favre's concept of loyalty. He was in on it the whole time, and once he had nothing to lose, he just tosses them under the bus. What a dick.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/16/2009 4:35:36 PM)

You're right, Panda. In my excitement I lost site of Favre getting off squeaky clean in this. F- em... He's a POS too. [8D]

I'll make you a deal - when the Mighty Packers play the Queens on Monday Night Football next month, I promise you that Dom Capers' new Uberdefense will put the old man on his ass at least 3 times. Teach him to beat out your Patriots in overtime last year!

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/17/2009 5:09:39 AM)

LOL.
DEAL !!!

Tell ya what, Panda: I live pretty close to Gillette Stadium and have a few " connections". You put pretty boy on his ass 4 or more times and I can get you some very high quality videos of defensive signals for the opponents of your choice.[;)]

Sanity -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/20/2009 7:26:47 PM)

What a wild day in the NFL. The Seahawks lost to the 49ers and Hasselbeck was hurt, thankfully it just looks like a bruised rib at this point. The Bears beat the Steelers, Houston beat Tennessee, New Orleans beat Philly, The Jets kicked New Englan's ass... and it was Oakland over Kansas City.

The way things are going its going to be Miami over the Colts on Monday Night.

Crazy...

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/20/2009 7:30:35 PM)

Yes, a good day. Got to think the Titans are beside themselves, though, playing the way they are, and they're winless.

Sanity -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/20/2009 8:01:39 PM)

It looks like your Cowboys might just pull one over on the Giants, another upset if it happens. It would be a shame if they lost the first game in their brand new 1.2 billion dollar stadium, wouldn't it?

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/20/2009 8:04:43 PM)

I tell you what the shame was, it was the jacket Jerry Jones had on during his interview with Bob Costas [&:] Damn ugly looking thing...

Yeah, it was 24-20 last time I checked; they need to hang on.

Crooow -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/20/2009 11:06:29 PM)

I've said it before and I'll say it again:  God bless Drew Brees
