Despite the refs the Giants are seperating from Arizona...and it would appear from the rest of the NFC...what with Atlanta exposing Carolina and all....

It will be hard to put McNabb back in at this point.  But is the backup ready for the remainder of the season?

Is McNabb ready for Chicago....Philly is done for the year, they might as well make use of the rest of this season to evaluate what they have in this young man.

Brady Quinn benched as well.  I think it would be better to allow him to finish out the season, if he's ever going to be the future of the Browns, they are obviously confused regarding direction.

Well Katy he was trying to play with a broken index finger on his throwing hand.....I think the benching was more a reflection of that ,than a beleif he isn't the guy.

Yeah, I know he has the busted finger, but I'm left wondering if there isn't more to this, like a qb controversy brewing (or should I say continuing) in Cleveland.

Well,I didn't see the game,so only from what I heard from highlights...I just don't get that feeling. They love this kid there,he is a local boy who wanted to play in Cleveland ,a high no.1 pick who is a fan favorite....they haven't loved anyone playing quarterback there since Bernie Kosar(another local kid made good).Don't see a controversy there at all.

There's far more controversy than you think.  Andersen made the Pro Bowl last year.  Benching him because of a tough start this year seems like it was the idea of our GM so he could justify his draft pick.  I think Crennel wanted to stick with him but was told to play Quinn.

Then, again, after 11 quarterbacks in 8 seasons we be would far more shocked if we didn't have a quarterback controversy.

I think we're about to have a coaching controversy too after Quinn was benched today.

Well if the GM and the Head Coach are at cross purposes...you have bigger problems than who's takithe snaps.

Now that the Titans have lost, I wonder if we'll see that Vince fella? I mean, everyone said that it was just his injury that kept him from playing, and then when they got on a roll it was "don't change anything during a streak". I remember all the weeping and gnashing of teeth when Merrill Hoge (love him as much now as when he played) called it like he saw it that Young was a soft baby, and that he felt that both Young and Leinart would be released by their respective teams. It could be interesting, as Collins is getting no Younger (pardon the pun) and if Vince isn't the future then a choice has to be made.

The titans lost because Bret changed his style of play. A lot of quick passes. Hard to defend against.

As least the Lions are consistent. So is their garbage offensive coordinator.

The Browns are 4-7.  If Brady Quinn can play with his busted finger then I say splint it up and let him play the remainder of the season.  He needs to gain more experience, the Brown's season is done at this point.

About Vince Young, I'm buying every adjective Merril has used in describing him.  There was an op recently talking about his attitude and how he is not engaged in helping the team or learning anything at this point.

read it here

It's tough living in Denver this time of year, when the Broncos begin throwing away their season like clockwork.

Either the Chargers and Broncos will make the playoffs because each division has at least one team that makes it, no other reason.  Then they will be blown out of the postseason posthaste.

The Broncos won back to back SBs in 1998-1999, and have since won a single postseason game.  They've been amazingly consistent, and always playing below their level.

Atlanta looked strong for a young team and I am really impressed watching young Mr. Ryan! I have lived her for 13 years and am just now liking the Falcons although I have always rooted for the Braves and Hawks(unless they were playing My Pacers!)
As for my Colts....at least this time against the Chargers, Viniteri didn't miss!....

You know who recovered "the Fumble," doncha?

Random notes from yesterday:

Obviously the Giants are the best team in football.  I was reluctant to admit this, but now there's no longer any doubt.

The Jets may be the best team in the AFC.  Their line (on BOTH sides) is a million times better than last year.

San Diego's line stinks and you heard it here first.

The Eagles put in one of the worst offensive performances I have ever seen.  That team is in serious trouble.  Their line blows (on EVERY PLAY there were multiple purple jerseys in the backfield drinking coffee and waiting for an Eagle to approach and be tackled), the quarterback play has been atrocious since the loss to the Giants, and they've never had very good receivers.  Add it up and they suck.  And I'm fucking tired of Andy Reid's post-game "Well, we didn't play very well today" analysis.

Gus Frerotte is not the solution to Minnesota's quarterbacking woes.

The Cowboys are really pretty good when Romo is healthy, but let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet.  They beat a pretty bad team yesterday.

And you have to give Aaron Rodgers a lot of credit.  He's playing like a pro.
