I know it's just preseason thus far, but what developments have you found to be most interesting? For me it's been the recent injuries (and not so recent) and how teams are trying to handle them, from the Giants trying to lure Strahan back to the Bungles shopping their starting running back to get another wideout to fill for both Johnson and Houshmanzadeh while they wait for their returned criminal Henry to get over the current 4 game suspension.

The Seahawks can run the ball again! They're looking really good this year all around, and their third string QB Charlie Frye has one hell of a bright future. He might be better than Hasselbeck and he's definately better than Seneca Wallace.

This isn't about the players as much as it is about the business part.  The Rooney's are in negotiations to sell part of the Steelers (buy out family members), in order to be compliant with NFL rules regarding ownership and gambling policies.  The NFL is helping the team navigate all of the issues.

Living in Chicago, and watching the preseason so far all I can say is........... How about those WHITE SOX!

It looks like the Steelers may be flush with qbs on the roster this season.  Want one?

angelic -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/30/2008 7:12:30 AM)

Under "Standings" what does the PF and PA stand for?  I know I should be able to figure it out, but it's driving me crazy.  Thanks.

Points For (how many that team has scored at that point in the season) and Points Against, how many their defense has allowed.

angelic -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (8/30/2008 7:23:48 AM)

Thanks!

You're welcome.

CINCINNATI (AP)—Maybe receiver Chad Johnson can go by the name that his head coach hates.

The Cincinnati Bengals receiver has legally changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in Broward County, Fla., a switch that became official this week, according to several media reports. Johnson, who lives in Miami, didn’t return a message left on his cell phone Friday night.

“It’s something I don’t think anyone has ever done before,” he told the team’s Web site. “Have I ever had a reason for why I do what I do? I’m having fun.”
Two years ago, Johnson gave himself the moniker—a reference in Spanish to his No. 85—and put it on the back of his uniform before a game. Quarterback Carson Palmer ripped it off before the kickoff. After the season, coach Marvin Lewis—who dislikes Johnson’s attention-getting stunts—referred to the receiver as “Ocho Psycho.”

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said the Bengals had no comment on the matter.

Johnson has been a concern for the Bengals this season. He unsuccessfully lobbied for a trade in the offseason, threatening to sit out if he didn’t get his way. When the Bengals refused, he relented and showed up for minicamp, but complained that his right ankle was bothering him.

He had bone spurs removed from the ankle and was limited at the start of training camp. In the second preseason game, he landed awkwardly and temporarily dislocated his left shoulder. Johnson is wearing a harness and expects to play in the season opener against Baltimore.

he's had the foot injury since last year...

FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts (Ticker)—New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady limped off the field after he was hit in the knee midway through the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Last season, Brady, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, set an NFL record by throwing 50 touchdown passes. He did not take a snap this preseason due to an injured foot.
ya wonder why he hurt his knee if the foot was already injured...hmmm...cant keep balance?

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/7/2008 10:57:46 AM)

Thanks for the info, I hope it's not a serious knee injury.

Ochenta y cinco is eighty-five.

Ocho cinco is just eight, five.
