Sad thing is, I can see that conversation really happening.

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones plans to pay Terrell Owens' $3 million roster bonus, which means the All-Pro wide receiver will be back for the final season of his three-year, $25 million contract.

"Yes, we are going to have Terrell back," Jones said Tuesday at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

Jones added that a contract extension for Owens is something he would consider "down the line."

Owens finished with 81 catches for 1,355 yards and a team-record 15 touchdown receptions.

The future of wide receiver Terry Glenn appears uncertain, Jones said. Glenn missed 15 games after arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He'll need microfracture surgery on the knee, a procedure that typically requires a year to recover from.

"That's something I will sit down over the days ahead to talk to him about," Jones said.

KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) -- Before Mike Holmgren decided to return for one -- and only one -- more season coaching the Seahawks, he signed a new pact.

Not with Seattle ... with his wife.

"She's making me fill out this little contract: 'Upon completion of your last game: The laundry; the garbage; the whole deal,"' Holmgren joked Tuesday when asked what he may feel like after he fulfills the final season of a two-year contract.

What if he really does want to keep coaching beyond a 17th season as a head man in the NFL? What if he wants to keep doing what he's done every football season since 1971, when he was a history teacher and assistant coach at Lincoln High School in San Francisco?

"I've made some promises," he said of Kathy, his wife of 37 years with whom he escaped last weekend to their vacation home in Arizona to contemplate retirement.

They probably have one of those weird, unfathomable "vanilla" relationships... but even that can't bother me. He's giving us another year! And they're making some big changes in the offense, too. Hopefully they're going to recruit some much needed speed

I think she does missionary work, I remember that being talked up when Seattle played the Steelers in the SB a few years ago.

Boy, who would have figured that the Giants would have outplayed the Packers in Lambeau? At least now I can root all out for New England to win the Super Bowl. Brett Favre winning it one last time would have been tough to root against.
I have to give a big salute to the Chargers as well. They overcame injuries, a poor start, and most importantly a lousy head coach to get to the championship game.

Part of its coaching and adjustments. When Farve was struggling, the team didn't seem to have any other options. The Giants eliminated the screen pass and kept the dump off passes to a minimum. When Brady was struggling, NE used dump-offs, screens, draws, and sweeps with great effectiveness.

The ball also bounced the Giants way, literally on all those fumbles (for the most part.)

As the game set up, its no suprise the Packers lost by Farve trying to force the ball into coverage on a cold, windy night.

Yup. The Packers clearly wanted to work the screen packages and run at the pass rush to open up the passing game, but the Giants did a fantastic job of stopping the run with 7-man fronts - they were super aggressive in attacking the gaps and forcing the game into Favre's hands. It seemed like GB just had no idea what to do after it was made apparent that their gameplan wasn't going to work.

The Giants' d-line has made their secondary look astonishingly good this post-season, but I have my doubts about how they'll match up against NE. They really need to get outstanding results from their four-man pressures and hopefully get a little healthier in the secondary. I wasn't a believer in Spagnuolo early on but he really has come up with some excellent gameplans, so who knows.

Now, go back and check the '72 Dolphins. Their regular season included only two games against teams that finished better than .500 — the Vikings and the Giants, who were both 8-6 that year. The combined won-loss record of their opponents was 43-86-3. Let me rephrase. Their average opponent had a winning percentage of .333.

There are some notably sane Dolphin alums. Jim Mandich, a tight end on that '72 team, comes to mind. When recently asked how that team would do against these Patriots, he responded: "They would kick our (butts) from one side of the field to the other."

There's no shame in that, just common sense. As a rule, ballplayers get bigger, stronger and faster every year. The Patriots have 35 years of athletic evolution (not to mention a little HGH, in the case of Rodney Harrison) on their side. The Dolphins offensive line averaged 253 pounds. The front three starters on New England's defense range from 300 to 325 pounds.

Still, Mandich's teammates seem incapable of acknowledging the obvious.
