The Giants outplayed the Packers, yes, and they're obviously doing something right, since they still don't have an offensive turnover in the playoffs. But the Packers have themselves to blame too. It was a mixture of a bad game plan, bad play-calling, and ole Brett trying to force passes again. Both interceptions were his own stupid fault. Why the HELL did the Packers abandon the running game? I know that Grant wasn't doing all that great, but he ripped off a 13-yard gain at one point, and they hardly went back to him after that. You've got to try running the ball more than 12 times in a game (or whatever it was), ESPECIALLY when you're not losing. They went into panic mode for no reason. When the Packers got the ball back with about 2:30 left in the game and the score tied at 20, I was positive they would run the ball, eat up the clock, and see if they could gain just enough yardage for a long field goal on the last play of the game. No, they had to throw the ball all over the field and punt it away again with enough time for the Giants to set up a field-goal attempt of their own. That's when Tynes missed his second one of the game, and the Packers should have lost the game right there for being morons in the play-calling department. The Chargers have without a doubt the most talented defense in the NFL, but their offense is inconsistent and relies too heavily on two stars. (I don't know what the hell was going on with LT, by the way; it was weird to see him standing there on the sidelines all game long with his coat and visor.) Anyway, if Rivers plays as well next year as he showed he could in the playoffs, they're going to be an outstanding team. If he keeps crapping in the bed every once in a while, as I kind of expect, they're not going to have much of a chance with all the other great teams in the AFC. quote:
ORIGINAL: cloudboy Part of its coaching and adjustments. When Farve was struggling, the team didn't seem to have any other options. The Giants eliminated the screen pass and kept the dump off passes to a minimum. When Brady was struggling, NE used dump-offs, screens, draws, and sweeps with great effectiveness. The ball also bounced the Giants way, literally on all those fumbles (for the most part.) As the game set up, its no suprise the Packers lost by Farve trying to force the ball into coverage on a cold, windy night. ------ Not only is SD stacked, but I also think they are $33M under the salary cap. Would be kind of funny and interesting if they plucked Randy Moss away from NE.
