Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/6/2008 10:35:10 PM)

Well, whoever said "Put in Charlie" is a moron.  Roethlisberger is a Top 5 QB and possibly a future Hall-of-Famer.  I'd rather have Brady and Manning, at least right now, but I'm not sure who else would be better.

You guys know I've been down on Philip Rivers, but I have to admit that he was great in the second half today.

I think that Ben has matured from last season.  I was upset last night when people I was partying with said he "sucks" and "put in Charlie" and "he shouldn't go to the Pro Bowl", I was thinking WTF?  He has a short memory and tries to get the team back in when has INT failure.

caitlyn -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 11:40:29 AM)

Time for predictions:

Seahawks vs. Packers
Pass rush turns Brett in to a turnover machine. Seahawks win 23-20

Cowboys vs. Giants
Two for the price of one. If TO is reasonably healthy, Dallas wins 34-20. If not, New York wins 20-17.

Colts vs. Chargers
A blowout ... 31-10 Colts

Patriots vs. Jaguars
Karma ... Jaguars win 30-28

Bonus pick - Why is Ohio State even in this game? LSU 38, Ohio State 13

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 12:31:35 PM)

OK, caitlyn, my pics are:

Packers
Cowboys
Colts
Patriots

Yeah, it's chalk, but I don't see any upsets this weekend.  I have a feeling the Cowboys will be back.  My lead-pipe cinch is Packers over Seahawks.  I don't think the Jaguars have much of a chance against the Patriots, either.

As for college...that's a hard game to pick, but I'll go with LSU.  I think USC is the best team in the country right now, but losing to Stanford isn't a way to win the national championship.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 3:40:49 PM)

Seahawks vs. Packers
Sorry, Sanity; GB 28 Seattle 13

Cowboys vs. Giants
Unfortunately, this one will be tougher than it should be. Dallas 21 NY 17

Colts vs. Chargers
Colts 30 SD 16

Patriots vs. Jaguars
If there's to be an upset this weekend, it'll be here. But I'm saying Pats 28 Jags 24

domiguy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 3:54:05 PM)

The Packers are going to trounce the Seahawks so badly that they just might hand them the Lombardi trophy on the spot.

Sanity -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 4:32:41 PM)

Nah, you and Brett are going to find out how damn old he really is this coming weekend, and it ain't gonna be pretty for either one of ya!

Seahawks  20 Green Bay 10

Sanity -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 4:48:52 PM)

Don't worry about me Level, me and my Seahawks will be just fine. What you should be concerned about is TO and that ankle of his, and the fact that Eli's all grown up.

Dallas 17 NY 24

I'm 24-7, with one game to go; not too shabby!

Kumasan2 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 5:39:51 PM)

Do you play the spread Level, or just straight out win/loss?

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 5:45:53 PM)

Hi Kumasan. I just go with the straight win/lose, the easy way [:D]

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 7:10:01 PM)

Aren't you supposed to do this BEFORE the games are played?

Oh.  Sorry I missed that--we could have redone the big competition we had last year.

caitlyn -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 9:19:02 PM)

I have another prediction ... that the people on the CollarMe message board could make better National Championship matchups, than the BCS computer.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/7/2008 10:38:12 PM)

Well, the championship game is over, and I still don't know who's the best team in the nation.  USC?  Georgia?  Maybe even Kansas?  I'm not really convinced it's LSU.

To me, it's just been that kind of season. I think there are probably a dozen teams that could beat any of the others.

I'm fine with LSU as the choice. They play in the toughest conference by far, and even with that played a BCS team as part of their out-of-conference schedule. Their two losses were to good teams. They had to win a conference championship game to get here. They have so much talent, they can overcome their own play calling.

In a season like this, they are a good, "why not" choice.

Well, that would be better, but even with 4 teams in a playoff, Georgia, Missouri, and USC would have been out in the cold this year. 8 would be optimum.
