IRVING, Texas (AP) - There was no vow to become "Man of the Year" this time. Tank Johnson simply said Wednesday he is looking forward to resuming his career with the Dallas Cowboys without the pressure of proving anything to anyone.
"I know I'm not a risk," Johnson said. "I'm a highly intelligent person and I take pride in a lot of things I do in life. Like any other person, I'm going to make mistakes and I've made mistakes. I'm coming to Dallas to be a productive defensive lineman and really solidify what (team owner) Jerry Jones thinks of me."

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Jets coach Eric Mangini cleared the air with Baltimore's Brian Billick after the Ravens coach accused New York of using an "illegal" ploy to draw his team offside during Sunday's game.
"I talked to Brian (Tuesday) and we had a good conversation," Mangini said Wednesday. "It was important for me to talk to him and make sure we didn't have a misunderstanding. We don't coach things to cause penalties. We don't believe in getting penalties, and it's something that we work to minimize at all times."

Packers' injury report overflowing

"I haven't been in this situation ... as I can recall, even as an assistant, this early in the season," McCarthy said. "But that's where we are."

In most of their contracts....The packers have agreed to play while injured...It's a clause known as, "For the love of the domiguy."  God Bless them and may they waste the Chargers...

I'm right there with ya on that one. Ldt is getting 1.9 yds/carry. How's your Defense against that kind of running machine?

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/23/2007 7:47:47 AM)

I have a feeling Tomlinson may get "right" today....... sorry DG.

domiguy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/23/2007 8:26:32 AM)

Yeah...Don't feel all that confident....But being that every diety loves the green and gold...I expect Tomlinson to leave the game early with some mysterious illness or injury...Perhaps some sort of a dislocated thingamajig....Anywhoo after the Packers are victorious...The next game to watch will be the Bears vs Cowboys....I expect the score to be around 7-6....Hopefully with Dallas on top...If Chicago wins it will because the defense scored several times or Hester returns a kick.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/23/2007 8:45:22 AM)

Yep, Dallas better have the O in high gear tonight. And maybe Hester will get a sprained thingamajiggy too lol

domiguy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/23/2007 10:05:09 AM)

and were off!!!! Precious drops back and throws directly into coverage as mandated by the leagues new "fairness policy".....Poor Chargers never really stood a chance.

I had no iea they were throwbacks. Lived in Philly and went to games in my tender years. Never saw yellow and blue.[&:]
They must be throwing themselves way back.

September 23 vs. the Detroit Lions, the team taking the field in these bizarre blue and yellow uniforms will be your Philadelphia Eagles. In honor of the teams' 75th anniversary season the Eagles will seize the opportunity to sell more jerseys by donning the uniforms they first wore in 1933 and inherited from the Frankford Yellow Jackets. Luckily since 1948, the Eagles have worn different variations of the green and white. Oddly enough the official city colors of Philadelphia are blue and yellow. No Philly sports team wears the colors, although there is a group of soccer fans hoping to bring an Major Leauge Soccer team to Philly that are in favor of that team wearing blue and yellow. They are known as The Sons of Ben.

I'd be interested in some of your thoughts, but I think these things are atrocious and the team will likely look completely ridiculous wearing them.

Now............ how good did Dallas look? [X(]

In the words of one Jimmie Johnson.................

"HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS !!!"

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/24/2007 7:51:07 AM)

The Iggles were sporting what has to be the ugliest throwbacks to date.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/24/2007 9:17:18 AM)

A story from last year, but pertinent for some of us, stat-wise:
http://www.docsports.com/2006/3-0-nfl-teams.html

Numbers don't lie. This year, the numbers tell us that the playoff fate of many teams is decided by the fourth week of the NFL season.
Since the playoffs were expanded to 12 teams in 1990, 76 percent of the teams - 62-of- 82 -- that started the season with three consecutive wins went on to make the playoffs. Last year each of the four teams that opened with a 3-0 mark, including three eventual division winners, qualified for postseason play.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/24/2007 3:10:14 PM)

The Commish is really cracking down on NFL shenanigans. Yet another warning memo went out this past week/end:

No longer will (cheerleaders) be allowed to warm up in front of the visiting team locker room or do their stretching in front of the visiting team locker room. … The reason? Some players feel they were being a little distracted."

Katy, you're safe, you have no cheerleaders, but all the rest of us better watch out.
What I really want to know is who is the whiner behind this memo. Is their team really that hormonally driven that a few scantily clad cheerleaders would throw their game plan off that badly.

Evil, evil girls, those cheerleaders. Seducing the poor little NFL players into submission. [8D]

This link is better, takes a nice sarcastic look at the insanity of the memo:
