I know, my brother and I were laughing about the cheerleaders!  Evidently it's such good stuff that the players can't look away.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Michael Vick's legal troubles may be far from over.

While the disgraced Atlanta Falcons quarterback awaits a Dec. 10 sentencing hearing after pleading guilty to federal dogfighting charges, the prosecutor in the rural county where the enterprise was located has plans to prosecute Vick as well.

State charges that could include numerous counts of animal cruelty could wind up subjecting Vick to far more prison time than the federal case will earn him.

Surry County Commonwealth's Attorney Gerald G. Poindexter was to appear before a grand jury on Tuesday, and he told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Monday night he would seek indictments involving dogfighting on Vick's county property.

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- LaDainian Tomlinson has had it.

It's bad enough that his San Diego Chargers have started 1-2 and that he's basically been running in place.

What's really eating at the reigning league Most Valuable Player is how people keep comparing this year's team with last year's group that went an NFL-best 14-2 before flaming out in the playoffs.

And how about the Saints?......... sheeeeesh.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/25/2007 7:57:05 AM)

Argh, Drew Brees, that was so painful to watch.  Did you see him in the press conference, post-game?  He thinks they can actually get this thing on track during the bye week.

fairerthanshe -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/25/2007 8:57:32 AM)

While I wanted the Titans to win last night (Go Vince!), it was painful to watch Drew have such a crappy night.  I hope he can turn things around and have a strong showing for the balance of the season.  They certainly have the talent on both sides of the ball, just need to work out some of the kinks that plague them currently.

I liked the uniforms, acutally. (The Eagles Throwback ones)

On another subject, I heard that the Tenn Titans had the best OL and DL (or one of the best) in the NFL. Must say that their MNF performance seemed to confirm this impression. I was also startled to learn that Jeff Fisher has only had four (4) winning seasons out of twelve (12).

I thought Brees played well, but the pressure of having to come from behind while the Titan's front line kept collapsing his pocket meant he had to gamble on low percentage, duress throws to make something happen. His performance was not unlike Farve's during GB's lean, rebuilding years.

Brees also has zero running game to help him out.

Yes, but 4 more season were 8-8, in Tennessee, so that's kind of an iffy stat.

The Saints..... they have little chance of a turnaround. There are holes in the defense, and Deuce McAllister is out for the year.

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/25/2007 3:41:33 PM)

The Saints division schedule should help them out considerably. Agree with you on the 8-8 seasons observation.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/25/2007 4:02:50 PM)

Yeah, cb, they do have a relatively weak schedule, lots of Cardinals and Falcons etc [:D]

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- In Deuce McAllister's locker, front-and-center on the top shelf, is a gold-painted wooden carving of the word: "Believe!"

After his second season-ending knee injury in three seasons, the Saints' 28-year-old all-time leading rusher wants to believe he will return to the NFL as an elite running back. It won't be easy, and he knows it.

"Obviously, the questions: Will you ever be the same? Will you ever be the back that you once were? Those are the different thoughts that obviously run through your mind as a player," McAllister said.

"I believe in myself. It's just a matter of me putting the time in and me putting the work in."

McAllister said an MRI exam Tuesday confirmed his worst fears: He tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in Monday night's 31-14 loss to Tennessee.

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward has a sprained right knee and is doubtful for Sunday's game at Arizona.

Ward has missed only three games due to injury in 10 NFL seasons, and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday he hasn't ruled Ward out of the game.

About the Titans, did I hear this was their 5th consecutive away win?  I'm impressed.  Jeff Fisher will always be known (by me, anyway) as the guy whose leg was broken by Cowher!

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/25/2007 6:03:01 PM)

What, did Cowher hit him with his chin? [:D]

Yes, I think it's the 5th straight win for the Used To Be Oilers. [X(]

Brace it and get out on the field....

The tough little bastard probably will!

I wonder if Warner will start for the Cards? If Leinhart was wide-eyed at the Raven D, I can't see him wetting his pants any less against Pittsuburgh....

And:

quote:

Rex Grossman reportedly will be benched by the Chicago Bears for Sunday's game at Detroit, with Brian Griese starting at quarterback.

Citing unidentified sources, NFL.com, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday that the beleaguered Grossman would sit when the Bears (1-2) visit the Lions (2-1).

The Bears would not confirm that any decision has been made, saying only that coach Lovie Smith would be available for his regular Wednesday news conference.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/25/2007 6:26:55 PM)

Brian Griese is not the answer.  Who is their #3 guy?  I'm assuming he's younger than Griese.  Why did this club not deal with this problem in the preseason?  I've been on the Rex Grossman bandwagon, I will admit it, I thought there was hope for him, but I've jumped off.

And about the Cardinals, I think it's a mistake to puncture Leinart's ego, better to allow him to learn through struggle than to bench him because he's scared.  Give him some big boys pants, really.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/25/2007 6:51:00 PM)

Let's see..... #3 in Bear Land is...... Kyle Orton. Former Purdue QB........ well. They're screwed!

I think Arizona should just forfeit next Sunday....

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/25/2007 7:36:31 PM)

I am looking forward to the Cardinals game.  They are the Steelers West, with some of the former staff in residence.  We'll see who hugs whom after the game.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/26/2007 6:02:00 AM)

YES!!!!!

Rex's benched!!   woohoo, Bears fans are rejoicing!!

OO8OO88O8 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/26/2007 7:15:07 AM)

Griese and Orton aren't the answer though. Griese may be slightly better that Grossman. I still remember his days in Denver.

domiguy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/26/2007 7:16:01 AM)

Poor Bears....But, it's my understanding that it is impossible for every team to be 3-0.

Brett is dedicating this coming Sunday's victory over the Vikings to Whitney Houston.
