I have some fabulous sateen ones that are made by Wamsutta, not sure what the line is, but I love them madly, even though I haven't used them in ages... The Charisma are thinner fabric, but just amazing.

That's the brand!

I bought 4 sets at TJMAXX and they've held up fabulously.

I wonder if I got them there, or at Marshalls... probably. The Charisma ones were definitely TJMaxx, those suckers cost the earth!

For my bed, it is totally worth every penny.

I am totally a sleep diva.

The bed has to be perfect, the temperature, the atmosphere, the pillow, sheets, quilt, a fan. No noise, no clutter, no electronic gizmos (except the fan), no light.

I set my reading light timer for 30 minutes and do like a reverse snooze until I fall asleep. My Kindle shuts itself off too.

One of the reasons I left R was because my bedroom adjoined the living room and he was too freaking noisy on weekends. When K gave him speakers one Christmas I wanted to shoot her.

I'm looking to buy a new bedding set, I have previously been using 300 ct threaded egyptian cotton sheets. I've been doing some research and have the basics down on what to look for in terms of quality. What I have consistently come accross is that Sateen sheets are more astheticly appealing to me and softer, but can pill over time, while egyptian cotton sheets are more coarse out of the package but become softer over time and do not pill or wrinkle. What I am looking for is getting something with maximum comfort. I'm not worried about the price, and will pay for optimum quality. I've read that anything higher than 300 ct isn't distinguishable. I'm interested in something soft that will not pill and will last. So I would prefer an egyptian cotton with a sateen finish if I can find one. So far the ones I have found at bed bath and beyond overstock.com and ebay have mixed reviews on softness. So if anyone has any reccomendations I would be greatfull.

I use comforters on both top and bottom.

Easy bed make ! :)

Check out Northern Nights from QVC, I suggest the wrinkle-free sateen sheets I've gotten the 450 or 500 thread count - they are sooooo comfy and they look great - I spent twice the amount on a set from the store previously and the sheets always looked like a mess. The Northern Nights are on sale fairly often.

I got mine from Pottery Barn. About six or so years ago. I think they're 500 thread count, and yes they're Egyptian cotton.

However this year I've had to do some mending as they're getting thin. If I had bought two sets, they would have lasted longer. Having just one, they are washed and put back on.

In winter I use flannel, probably only four months of the year.

They were a little coarse first few months but softened up quickly.

Thanks for the help ladies. If i were to ask a buddy about it they would just look at me and go, "They're just sheets man!"

And they'd be wrong. ;P

I just bought some awesome sheets that are a bit satin_teen feeling at walmart! 300. ct, they are incredible. Between silky and cotton. I cant stand silk for some reason, to slick, makes me sweat and feel weird. But as Goldi lock says These are just right! I think they were 40.00 for queen.

Oh fuck no. 300 thread count is like sleeping on sandpaper or using that coarse industrial grade TP that leaves grout up your ass.

Hellllllllllll no. Ain't even kinda sorta happen.
Kana is a luxuriant kitty. He sleeps on the finest 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets.
Soft, smooth, cool in the summer, warm and snug in the winter.
I am all about that shit.
As in no kidding. I hunted for almost a month before I found the right sheets at the right price. Ended up picking up my set at the Jersey Shore for 75% off and still paid a fortune.

I am pretty sure I'm not delicate................but I am very god damned picky and demanding.

In some things I am totally okay with the least expensive option. In other things, I want the very best I can afford to get.

I CAN sleep in 90+ degree temps with 70%+ humidity, in the back seat of my truck, in the dirty jeans and t-shirt I wore while riding horses all day, still sweaty and stinky, with the windows mostly closed to keep out the mozzies and the sound of drunks partying till wee hours of the morning, occasionally beating on the side of said truck to try and get me to return to the party, with horses tied to a trailer, occasionally rocking the trailer and truck.

But I PREFERRRRR to sleep in temperature controlled dark and quiet bedroom, in my comfy bed with good quality clean sheets, quilt, pillows.....myself freshly showered, naked and perfumed.

Yes, I am a sleep diva.

I don't think it's a Dom thing because I had to do some educamacation on "nice bed linens" to Odeen recently. We bought an additional 400ct cotton set. We are debating whether to upgrade to a kingsize bed in the future, so won't buy anymore till then.

There is nothing better than getting into bed with silky, soft sheets. I blame the few 5 star hotels I've stayed in.. those bedsheets are amazing.

The one's I found online are 159 + SH. That's with 20% off. 800 ct egyptian cotton satteen in a black/grey scale.

When they get here I'll let you know how the feel.

Kana sez, You won't regret the decision.

Edited to add that Overstock has 1000 TC sheets for $90 and up and 1500 TC (!!!) for $143.00
The Mouse is wistfully fantasizing, "1500 would be like sleeping in a cloud. I would never leave the bed."

Yes I have looked at the ones on Overstock and they aren't sateen, more importantly one of them is two ply, so even though it says 1000 tc it's actually just 500 doubled. Wich is bullshit. ALso the reviews on the high end one I came accross at overstock i think it was 179.99 but don't remember the brand had poor reviews. The reviews on the one I purchased however had more than 100 reviews and all but 1 were 5 star. So I'm comfortable with my purchase :D

Carol (Miss Frugality) almost had a coronary when I bought our sheets. Egyptian cotton 1200tc single ply. Yup, they needed more than a few washings to settle down but we've had them for years and I still love them. She would've gone with the $9.99 "sheet set" at Kmart or somesuch.

I think that sheet quality is incredibly important (see My siggie :). I usually get Mine from Pottery Barn or Home Goods. Here are some very good ones:

The best sheets I have are 900 thread count Egyptian cotton that I got off eBay directly from Alexandria in Egypt for about $30.

After those, the 300 thread count feels like burlap.
