They don't 'acknowledge' any such thing  in the document you provided.

So, it must be somewhere else, that you gleaned that little bit of secret info.

It wasn't a pep talk. He was being paid to convince people to buy a Chrysler.

I thought the commercial was rather cheesy though.

Detroit? Really? It should have been San Francisco. I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Yes, Eastwood was paid for his time and work. Also, he gave his the money he earned doing the commercial to charity.

Why are you against people making an honest living??

I think she was implying is was purely a business transaction and that any actor could have done it.

It`s not the advert so much as the gut reaction from cons.

It comes from the leadership down to the minions, eaten and regurgitated at each turn.

The reason they're whining is because that's what they do when they aren't lying, threatening, cheating, defaming, etc etc etc. We're talking about the Radicals here - this is hardly news.

I don't think the problem that's highlighted here is melodramatic adverts that look and sound like political campaigns.  It's political campaigns that look and sound like melodramatic adverts.  It's only because electoral campaigns have become so full of overblown sentiment and so devoid of depth of thought that people could confuse adverts with political campaigns.

The row has reached such volume that even Eastwood - an 81-year-old who has traditionally voted Republican but describes himself as more libertarian than traditional conservative - felt compelled to refute claims it was to support the president's re-election campaign.

"l am certainly not politically affiliated with Mr Obama," he told Fox. "It was meant to be a message about just about job growth and the spirit of America."

He said he given his fee for the spot to charity.

In general, I'd agree with your observation, but the campaigns didn't become so full of psychosocially manipulative rhetoric simply by accident or incident. The 'neo-conservative' rightwing political organizations have spent hundred-billions on laundered-money think-tanks that produce most of the sloganeered propaganda, and a trillion or more on acquiring control of all the major news-media outlets. How many hard-core rightwing radio, television, print, etc networks have been built up during the last few decades? And the whole time, they've been attacking all other media as leftwing?

(Sure, the liberal groups have done some of that too, but they're often pollyannish idiots, and haven't put in a tithe of what the 'conservatives' invested. The leftwing 'network' consists of five (yes, just five) obscure radio stations with a few million in total annual funding.)

Much of the campaign strategies and statements are intended to confuse people, to push psychological triggers, to channel emotions of fear, anger, hatred, etc into causing distorted perceptions and irrational decisions. That doesn't 'just-happen', it's deliberate, calculated, and arguably sociopathic.

I wonder what the prognosis is NOW.

Probably not as grim now..... Clint actually refers to those sentiments metaphorically in the commercial... about those sentiments BEING WRONG
Kid... don't be too shocked if things get a little better in this country. A LOT of us are actually working to take some of the 'sucks' out of the day. And if the wanna-be Ayn Rand crowd could shut the fuck up for a while and look around they might get cheered up.

Leadership also comes in the form of rightist pundits with huge amounts of influence/power.

There`s no doubt about who`s in charge when elected cons go on his show and tongue-clean his feet and ass.Or when we see lush`s(not a typo)words being regurgitated here so slavishly.

A good example woud be lush`s call NOT to help with our economic issues, least Obama get the credit. The con-turds followed that order to a 'T'.

I'm not whining along with you but, rather, just agreeing with you and adding that the taxpayers have not yet been paid back from the GM bailout either and the GM bailout illegally compensated UAW members at the expense of GM stockholders.

Chrysler was provided a 13 Billion bailout, which they took 11 billion and repaid 7 billion before the Treasury sold of its shares to Fiat.

According to this, the government expected to see very little of its bailout returned. 12.5 Billion was the amount the article cites in 2009.

When a conservative whines about a TV commercial highlighting the positive news from the American auto industry and speaking in a positive way about America's future on the specious grounds that such a TV commercial might make President Obama look good vs. the GOP, "cry baby" is an appropriate term to apply to them.

I think it's just politics as usual, and part of political rhetoric involves whining to some degree. But it's more of a strategic whining, designed to achieve a favorable result. It's a tactic, just like calling the other side "cry babies" is a similar tactic. One man's cry baby is another man's social reformer.

Not unlike Fightdirecto's assertion that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Its hard to accept the advert wasn't political. As far as I can see the advert clearly intended to draw on the imagery of the forthcoming election (two teams in the locker room talking strategy, which way will people go, etc.) considering its an election year when the topic is in the news constantly. By citing Detroit it does sound like a subtle endorsement of Obama and his message. On principle its bad form for a big company like Chrysler to be pushing a political message that furtively favours one side but I don't know if its that big a deal though, in part because Eastwood is entitled to endorse whoever he wants.

Yeah, that's another oft-quoted statement. Labels are powerful things. That's why politicians (and advertisers) are so good at what they do, because they know what works.

I think a lot of people watching this commercial might roll their eyes at rich corporate executives and Hollywood celebrities talking about struggling during hard times. What do they know about it?

I don't think it's a very convincing endorsement of anything, other than the same business as usual policy which got us into this "halftime in America" situation in the first place.

ON PRINCIPAL, it's pretty much fucking rotten for big business to rather openly declare as a class that they will not spend any money to employ people until they remove the sitting President. The phrase 'bloodless coup' comes to mind. So I think in the bigger picture (if this even IS an Obama centric message) it's better form than what the opposition is resorting to.
But nobody's said there's any super pac money flowing here. And Clint Eastwood is a pretty died in the wool conservative.
I'll say this much regardless of what the youngster was saying about Detroit going bankrupt using 2009 data... Looks like GM rules right now:

http://online.wsj.com/mdc/public/page/2_3022-autosales.html

So maybe they have a right to report to America about things that have WORKED.
And if it tips things in favor of the guy who conceived the manner of recovery, he EARNED it. It was a big risk.
