"Clint Eastwood has defended himself against republican claims his Super Bowl ad was essentially an endorsement of Barack Obama's re-election campaign."

The Chrysrler advert:

"Clint Eastwood gives America a pep talk"

angelikaJ -> RE: Proof cry-baby-cons aren`t happy about our good news..... (2/7/2012 6:14:59 AM)

Why post it in an inflammatory way?

When you do that it starts the thread off on an antagonistic and confrontational tone which honestly, is not conducive to rational and reasoned, respectful discussion.

Why not just ask people what they thought of the ad or title it as Clint Eastwood Gives America a Pep Talk?

Us vs: Them is what is causing so many issues and as long as people are focusing on that they will never shift their thinking toward solution based collaboration.

Owner59 -> RE: Proof cry-baby-cons aren`t happy about our good news..... (2/7/2012 6:27:33 AM)

Can you explain why they would be complaining?

angelikaJ -> RE: Proof cry-baby-cons aren`t happy about our good news..... (2/7/2012 6:30:38 AM)

Yes, "cry-baby-cons" is inflammatory language.

No offense angelika but have a gander of some of their thread titles. I honestly think Owner is going for a laugh here ...but whatever ...
It's HalfTime

America

Whatcya say we hit the streets, Crack open an an Ice Cold Koch and celebrate?

Fightdirecto -> RE: Proof cry-baby-cons aren`t happy about our good news..... (2/7/2012 6:54:07 AM)

Actually, "cry baby cons", in this context, is a quite accurate description for those attacking the TV commercial and Clint Eastwood for appearing in it.

When a conservative whines about a TV commercial highlighting the positive news from the American auto industry and speaking in a positive way about America's future on the specious grounds that such a TV commercial might make President Obama look good vs. the GOP, "cry baby" is an appropriate term to apply to them.

Clearly they would have preferred a pessimistic ad saying that America was going to hell in a hand basket and only Mitt, Newt or Rick Santorum could save us. But the American auto industry and Mr. Eastwood didn't do that - ergo the ad was part of the great liberal/socialist/communist conspiracy. ;-)

Owner59 -> RE: Proof cry-baby-cons aren`t happy about our good news..... (2/7/2012 7:08:30 AM)

Perhaps I should have used less inflammatory terms like........ whining....,malcontented.....,sour-grapes/sore loser/sour-pussed.....,jealous/envious.....or irrational and angry...[:D]

I mean really,how could the lady describe this with anything other than negative terms?

Please,let`s see this creative writing.

And Skip is correct......some folks need to get a sense of humor or maybe find another forum.[:D]

     This reaction, I think establishes one real clear message about the so-called conservatives that are trying to exert this choke-hold on the country we've seen in the legislature and now they're dragging out in the media they've been dominating for the past year with this shit. They can bullshit us all they want about the liberal media all they fucking want, they reality is we can't turn off their frigging circus. It's an apocryphal pile of personal garbage and BOGUS ISSUES that will to a large extent not even be in the general election.
   If one of their most reputable non-politician (well sort of he's been a mayor and has been pretty outspoken at times ... and HEY, not always in a manner I would agree with. But What I do give Clint each and every time is credit for speaking his mind. I think those were probably his own words, if perhaps the sponsor producing the commercial may have sought to be a little cautious.
   And I think the way the party he has helped and supported attacking him on THE PERCEPTION that it was against them just further reenforces my viewpoint that the current brand of so-called 'conservative' is just plain polarizing bullshit.
    Because Clint, in his wisdom and his own way I think, was expressing the conservative viewpoint from the perspective in the dictionaries. He was conserving our best endowments. Our Ingenuity, and Our ability to work together for something larger than ourselves as a common goal.

How about this for inflammatory language? "Right turn, Clyde." [sm=biggrin.gif]

I'll leave the question of whether or not he suggested that the auto industry bailouts were constitutional to someone else. What struck me was the halftime analogy. It implies--with optimism--that America has another 250 years in her. That's not enough for me. The "grand experiment" was designed to avoid the failures of preceding civilizations. If we don't last as long as they did, we're doing it wrong.

Owner59 -> RE: Proof cry-baby-cons aren`t happy about our good news..... (2/7/2012 7:27:33 AM)

My take and I think the con`s too was that "halftime" meant this coming election for president.Obama`s 1st term being the 1st half,his re-eaction being the 2nd half.

But I`m a little bias.......[:D]

My Buddy down in Nashville who spent 8 years in the Old executive Office building in the 90s called and said "All is need is 'Obama/12'" at the end and it's nuclear"

meh.. an attempt at being super dramatic that comes off to me as hokey.. jmo..

Its not the next election that really matters much, imo,.. its whether the US can keep hold of its super power position in the world that has started slipping away..

Not that i am saying this was a political ad.. since Clint says it wasnt.. [;)]

It wasn't a pep talk. He was being paid to convince people to buy a Chrysler. [8|]

I thought the commercial was rather cheesy though.

Detroit? Really? It should have been San Francisco. I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

One of the alltime great lines in a movie.

So why do you think the cons were whining?

Don`t say strength of character or love of country......

servantforuse -> RE: Proof cry-baby-cons aren`t happy about our good news..... (2/7/2012 10:47:00 AM)

Fiat owns a majority of Chrysler and took 1.3 billion in bailout money from the taxpayers and have not paid it back yet. That's why I'm whining.

Detroit will be back in bankruptcy soon. Even the GAO acknowledges this.
