Outrageous. I use Chrome, and I'm only a bit brighter than the average IE user? Nonsense!

Bit faster than IE, otherwise no difference that I've noticed or cared about. That's about it . . . .

Then I needn't bother. There is a dire message about IE on my gmail homepage, but I ignore it. Fie on technology!

They're a psychometric testing company. I.e. on a par with being a homeopathic remedy "research" company.

It was revealed as horseshit about 2 weeks ago.

Do keep up, old chap.

PS: Shame on the Beeb for repeating such drivel. Especially as they didn't also repeat the facts surrounding the company itself.

As any right-thinking person would ;)

Seriously though; browser design is largely an HCI* decision; there is little to choose between the main ones other than what you like about them. In other words, they'll all do the job, to one extent or another, it's just down to what details they offer you.

*Human-Computer Interface; i.e. the design bits that relate to look & feel, and what you push in order to do what.

You shouldn't feel in any way dimwitted for using IE, RF. You've no doubt accumulated a lot of wisdom in your time, and there's no dishonour in your slowing down a bit as you reach your more mellow years.

i haz h8 4 yooor comment but oi don't know how to say it in riting.

Seriously though; do some research before reposting the opinions of retards, eh? You only had to stick it into google to see the pasting the "research" has taken. Bad Peon! Peon no get banana!

ETA: I should point out that I use IE, FF and Chrome, for different things*

*although I only use FF to keep up with how dreadful a browser can be :)

You're getting bad-tempered because your cocoa's gone cold and your blanket's fallen off your knees again, RF. You should call Nursey!

FR

This is about as competent a survey as the 2018 Presidential polls. Awhile back I scored over 190 in an online IQ test and that was in IE5. Windows XP forced me into IE6. I've used IE5.5 at work and it did what I needed it to do until someone fucked up the ststem. I refuse to fucking fix it unless it's on company time. Fuck them, if I fuck with it nobody else does, that's it.

Must've been one hell of a set of questions on the test there. Anyone with half a fucking brain knows if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Or do we mean the higher intelligence such as possesed by those commisioned by the US government to study the mating habits of the fucking tse tse fly ? Yeah, I bet they are a bunch of fucking validictorians.

I am surprised that I wasted the time to even respond to this. Maybe I need another IQ test, because now I have my doubts.

That's a heinous slur, and I'm reporting you to the Mods!

I'm actually grumpy coz I wet myself over an hour ago, and no-one's been along to change me.

Can we just skip to the bit where I call you a clueless cunt and we all agree I'm lovely? ;)

Ok Peon; if Termy's weighing in on the side of IE I'm prepared to admit the research probably has some validity ;)

For some reason I always imagine Termy has a teleprompter that prints to paper via a golf ball*/**

*my spell checker suggested “goofball” ... I make no comment ...
**I imagine his home as looking somewhat like The Batcave***
***"<print> <print> <print> <tears off> ... "This just in, Termy! RF's just called you a loon again!" ... "Fear not, Robin! He's English, and thus we can feel sure he has bad teeth and a disdain for chilled beers! I shall mock him accordingly!"

Well, whatever. Anyway, I'm so used to research of this kind turning out to be utter bollocks, I can hardly be bothered to look into it. Beats starting threads about how some disturbing-looking scientist who's still a virgin at 65 has "irrefutable evidence" that women make better Greco-Roman wrestlers or Martian astronauts than men [or similar], though.

Its quite a silly bit of research...as far as I can see there's no control for anything - experience with using PCs would be nice (along with a few other things). Clearly IE is very much the 'default' even with a modicum of choice and people who have more experience will likely go for a FF/Opera/Chrome..and obviously people with more experience are likely to score higher on things such as IQ tests. As has been stated the article the 80 IQ figure seems bonkers low - 70-75 is the borderline for (general) learning disabilities..so the research seems to be suggesting that a significant proportion of those using IE have or are on the edge of being LD.

Piffle.

Hmmm.... yesterday a Peon said:

I'm just wondering: can someone explain how this kind of research will help move society towards a happier and more harmonious position? As opposed to research which focuses. say, on the comparative superiorities of one racial group over another?

Seems he's sharing an article that discriminates on a person's browser preference. :-p

Oh yeah, and I use Chrome as well. Everything else sucks and is for dumb-asses ;-) Ha ha ha!
