As always Idaho is fantasy land.  Nike didn't start making shoes in Vietnam because they were forced to by the Government.  Apple didn't stop manufacturing anything here because the Government drove them to it.  As others have done it was for the sole purpose of maximizing profits and driving up the value of their stock options.

Great for their private wealth.

Answer the question.  How is that good for our economy?

Despite what you seem to believe, a good economy is not one in which most people are dependent on government handouts.

Democrats can condition people to believe that thats the way life should be but its not healthy in any way for a people to believe or to behave that way, or for a government to foster such dependance.

Despite what you believe, I do not believe that, never said it and you keep impugning me and other people with it but we see that you are actually very short of fact and dont seem to comprehend well if that is all you can conclude.

Republicans like to condition people that they are the fiscally responsible party of small governments. But we only need to review Reagans massive government build up, and his and Ws fiscal irresponsibility to see that it is a sham, simply Orwellian doublespeak.

The problems with the GOP field are numerous.

The Republican primary voters demands for ideological purity on a wide range of issues. Many of which are going to be very difficuly sells to the general public.

Romney has problems with his abortion stance, his signing and supporting a health care mandate and his religion.

Santorum has problems with virtually everything he has ever said and of course the Google problem.

Gingrich has problems with his divorces and his track record.

Huntsman worked for Obama and is a Mormon.

Bachman is, well Bachman.

Cain is has no political experience and his positions are untenable in a general election.

Are you seriously trying to argue that the Dems are the true party of fiscal responsibility [sm=biggrin.gif]

No one ever claimed that the Republicans are perfect in every way

They are in fact too far to the left, as you point out

Still, they have the Dems beat hands down when it comes to fiscal conservatism

Though there is definitely work to be one in moving the GOP to the right

Just as you argue

Owner59 -> RE: The GOP candidates' problems. (6/9/2011 7:25:30 AM)

Governments don`t drive businesses offshore.

Cheap labor,less/no environment rules,less/no labor rules offshore, drives businesses offshore.

We could easily set the tax code to make it not so appalling.

They want to be in our market, they have to be in America.

Snetence five, thats on you, I dont give a shit, I want a real republican party like it was founded, doesnt seem to going to be one.

You forgot to malign Ron Paul and Gary Johnson, the only two candidates who've shown ANY respect for our Constitution.

As always, Fl is an vast wasteland of economic understanding.

Do you think taxes and regulations had nothing to do with Nike or any other company relocating?
How is their relocation good for our economy? Cheaper prices so more can be spent on other products.

Lucylastic -> RE: The GOP candidates' problems. (6/9/2011 8:15:07 AM)

cheaper prices?
where?

The GOP is still insisting that tax cuts magically produce prosperity despite the entire Bush presidency proving the opposite.

You arent a rabid drooling lib like so many here. Why dont you try to substantiate that with facts.

Hint: Youre going to need some very thorough sources or a robust economic model to show the difference between what happened and what would have happened absent his economic policies.

The thing government did to encourage (not forced) companies to move offshore is that we have the highest corporate tax in the industrialized world. We can stick it to the rich or cut corporate taxes and make it more profitable to stay here.  More business stays here = more jobs =  more money for the working man = more taxes from their pay = better situation.

mnottertail -> RE: The GOP candidates' problems. (6/9/2011 8:25:19 AM)

no, sorry, you lose take off your pants.

Minnesota is home to the greatest number of fortune 500 companies in the United States, far and away more than other states, we have one of if not the highest corporate taxation here, try again.

if the minimum wage is 7.50 cents an hour, and you can hire someone then for an 8 hour day at 60 bucks, forgetting all the other burden and you can hire someone for 10 or 12 hours at 8-10 dollars a day..................don't be such simpletons.

BamaD -> RE: The GOP candidates' problems. (6/9/2011 8:31:59 AM)
