And by the way, it turns out that CARDINALS really ARE astounding. I think they are only in No. America. I have shown pictures of them to people in Europe, So. America, and Asia, and they really do oooohhhh and ahhhhh over them.

My favorite birds, they are around here in abundance, and it's even my high school's mascot.

It never ceases to amaze me just how long any given topicĀ  goes without correcting an obvious spelling error. It's just so astounding. Is the due to laziness or just ignorance? i do not know. Even when i point out the errors, they continue to get overlooked and i get alot of flack over it. It's like people don't want others to be reminded of their lack of detail. i imagine i'll get more flack here by the usual suspects over my pointing out, yet again, the error of their ways.

(side note: yes, i am aware that i did not capitalize the letter 'i' in my writings. blame that on IRC. most subs/slaves use the small 'i' when talking there. i admit this is my error)

Most people consider it rude to point something like that out. There are many reasons for poor spelling and poor grammar. Not everyone here has English as their first language, some are dyslexic, some are simply poor spellers.

Why do you feel it is your place to point it out to them? Do you get off on it perchance?

I was watching a male with his bright red beak, and his lovely lady with her lovely red beak eating at the bird feeders stragically placed outside my bedroom window and I realized they are our version of Parrots, Larakeets and the like!

I think our Native Robin is only on this beloved continent too. I like the English Robin and they have those in Australia but the NA Robin, wow man, I love that bird. Sparrows though, the gut me in their ordinary sweetness, I have the bird feeders up mainly for them. I saw them in Australia too. Love me some Sparrow.

Unless you mean to say that the topic itself is correcting the error, this sentence is incomplete. You are missing a subject noun, for example 'anyone'.

I think you mean 'Is this due', because 'is the due' is a meaningless fragment.

So, mikey, your post complaining about the carelessness of others consists of ten sentences. I found errors in seven of them, by my count.

That makes you a hypocrite.

Thank you.

Cardinals are pretty birds.. but I find them only slightly less annoying than blue jays...

I always try to get my spelling and punctuation correct for the simple reason that if I don't and I submit what I have written, I am forced to edit what I have written when I detect an error, it's just me, my personal standards and my failures at attaining those standards, I have myself to please.

As to others, well, with all the new ways in language, just what is right and wrong anymore, as we are on a daily basis assaulted with new ways in written communication. SMS text speech and internet speech, both are different from what was considered good use of language, but both are accepted in the written communication of today.  It used to annoy me when I saw impoper use of my language, but now I just accept as long as I get a rough idea of what is being said, that is all that matters, as written language is a form of communication, if communication can be had, forget the spelling and grammatical errors, it is not worth getting your knickers in a twist about.

But, it all comes down to a case of live and let live in everything we do.

Greetings mikeyofGeorgia:

I am uninterested in spelling or grammatical errors made by others here in their postings. I do notice them yet I usually know what people mean even when their spelling is inaccurate or their grammar is incorrectly used.

I find the role of alerting others of their spelling and grammatical errors to be none of my business. Adults are responsible for their own choices and that does include how they present their viewpoints that might full well include spelling and grammatical errors.

I do however question why it is an issue to the degree that it needs to become a thread, such as this?

I conclude, to each their own!

Take care!
