It never ceases to amaze me just how long any given topic  goes without correcting an obvious spelling error. It's just so astounding. Is the due to laziness or just ignorance? i do not know. Even when i point out the errors, they continue to get overlooked and i get alot of flack over it. It's like people don't want others to be reminded of their lack of detail. i imagine i'll get more flack here by the usual suspects over my pointing out, yet again, the error of their ways.

(side note: yes, i am aware that i did not capitalize the letter 'i' in my writings. blame that on IRC. most subs/slaves use the small 'i' when talking there. i admit this is my error)

So fix it. You want everyone else to fix their errors......Physician heal thyself.[8|]

In your case, I would guess it's a fair amount of both.  Perhaps you should reconsider pointing out errors made by others until you can manage a post of your own without a handful of spelling, grammar and punctuation errors.  You've made clear your disdain of history classes in the past, but did you feel the same about every class in school?  Is there any area in which you display some basic level of competency or do you exhibit this level of incompetence in every segment of your life?

ourmsbetty -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/20/2010 9:06:20 AM)

Prehaps he's right...

after all we discovered a long time ago that a  sense of perspective is a luxury most of lifekind cannot afford to have:

Total Perspective Vortex The Total Perspective Vortex is allegedly the most horrible torture device to which a sentient being can be subjected.
When you are put into the Vortex you are given just one momentary glimpse of the entire unimaginable infinity of creation, and somewhere in it a tiny little mark, a microscopic dot on a microscopic dot, which says, "You are here."[5]
Located on Frogstar World B, the machine was originally invented by one Trin Tragula in order to annoy his wife. Because she was forever nagging him for having no sense of proportion, he decided to invent something that would show her what having a sense of proportion really meant. Unfortunately the shock of being placed in the Vortex destroyed her brain, but Trin Tragula's grief was tempered by the knowledge that he had been right and she had been wrong. In Adams's words, the Total Perspective Vortex illustrated that "In an infinite universe, the one thing sentient life cannot afford to have is a sense of proportion."[6] The machine produces a virtual reality model of the entire universe by means of the axiom that any piece of matter is affected by all other matter. The Vortex reconstructs the universe through computer processing of a high-resolution scan ("extrapolated matter analysis") of a piece of fairy cake. In the words of the Hitchhiker's Guide,
...since every piece of matter in the Universe is in someway affected by every other piece of matter in the Universe, it is in theory possible to extrapolate the whole of creation - every Galaxy, every sun, every planet, their orbits, their composition, and their economic and social history from, say, one small piece of fairy cake.[link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technology_in_The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy#cite_note-6][/link]

DesFIP -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/20/2010 9:20:01 AM)

I've been known on another site where editing is always allowed of leaving a deliberate error up just to piss off the person who pointed it out to me. She was snotty about it so I left it there. I changed it when someone asked me nicely to please change it.  And I told that person I was changing it because she was so nice about it and that I had left it because this other woman was such a bitch about it (and I named names).

This may well be why Mikey, because you frequently are less than nice in your posts. If you accidentally hurt them on a previous occasion, they (like me) well may be petty enough to leave the error just to annoy you.

Of course, here, you get one hour tops to edit and then you're sol.

And why point at errors when you have your own?  Spelling isn't everything, and it's just one facet of the whole grammar tree.  Just a thought.

Yea! Someone called me a Geek!

Thank you. I am a self admitted sci fi nut but for some reason other Geeks never seem to see me as one. I don't hang out in the Dr Who forums enough.

*Now hear this Miss Sassy Pants,
Wheaties is a proper noun.  I am having a Korean version of Wheaties.  Therefore it is not in fact true Wheaties and does not deserve the Wheaties capitalization.

I prefer a more delicate manner of insult, thank you very much.

Have a day,

I have got this far reading the OP, the bolded bit. I know the rest of this Op will be a hoot and that this thread will be full of mirth and look forward to da shitzngigglezlez that I strongly sense lay ahead, but first we must pause and look at this line here.

You find spelling uncorrected obvious spelling errors "just so astounding" do you?

I am sorry, I feel bad. Go outside and look at the truly astounding. Come with me. These are flowers, see? And this, this blue sky is vast. Pretty. Pretty sky. Look, a squirrel, those durn varmits! See, the red Cardinal? Why is it the male is much more brightly colored? Seems wrong way about it little bit, dont it? It is astounding how red that bird is, dontcha think? You need to breathe deeper mate. You have gone too far down the worm hole, come back, this way out... it otay... this way.

Wow that was close. Feel better?

And by the way, it turns out that CARDINALS really ARE astounding.  I think they are only in No. America.  I have shown pictures of them to people in Europe, So. America, and Asia, and they really do oooohhhh and ahhhhh over them.

Have a great day!
