mikeyOfGeorgia -> Spelling errors on the forums (7/19/2010 6:03:24 PM)

It never ceases to amaze me just how long any given topic  goes without correcting an obvious spelling error. It's just so astounding. Is the due to laziness or just ignorance? i do not know. Even when i point out the errors, they continue to get overlooked and i get alot of flack over it. It's like people don't want others to be reminded of their lack of detail. i imagine i'll get more flack here by the usual suspects over my pointing out, yet again, the error of their ways.

(side note: yes, i am aware that i did not capitalize the letter 'i' in my writings. blame that on IRC. most subs/slaves use the small 'i' when talking there. i admit this is my error)

People probably enjoy typing however the fuck they want to type, without you trying to tell them to do it differently. I guess they assume that you don't own them.

You made several grammatical errors in your one-paragraph post. It's so poorly written, I can barely tell if you're upset at people who misspell things in the forums, or if you're upset at people who get upset at people who misspell things in the forums. Not that anyone cares - including yourself, apparently.

All that said, I'm pretty sure you're just trolling for an argument, or perhaps for a dominant to come along and set you straight, so you can go bust one off to the concept of being put in your place. If that's the case, I'm happy to oblige. Go fuck yourself, and let people use the forums however they like.

laurell3 -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/19/2010 6:54:23 PM)

mikey,

No one cares. I would think you would have better things to worry about than other people's spelling errors.

KyttynTheMynx -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/19/2010 6:54:29 PM)

Maybe they just dont care? Its not like this place is a term paper where everything counts, after all.

nancygirl34652 -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/19/2010 6:58:15 PM)

It's not? Damn, that would have been an easy "A"

KyttynTheMynx -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/19/2010 6:59:52 PM)

Sorry Nancy. The professors here only give easy A's if youre good on yer knees. [;)]

juliaoceania -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/19/2010 7:05:10 PM)

I am too lazy to care about my spelling errors, or yours, so sue me[;)]

I can't quote posts without correcting spelling and sometimes obvious grammar errors. It's just my nature.

I saw this, but, because I was feigning non-caring, I decided to ignore it[:D]

They have medication for OCD, perhaps you should check into it?

Think happy thoughts Mikey.

Jesus loves you.

Just not black Jesus.

Unless you mean to say that the topic itself is correcting the error, this sentence is incomplete. You are missing a subject noun, for example 'anyone'.

I think you mean 'Is this due', because 'is the due' is a meaningless fragment.

As the darling EW pointed out, 'alot' is not a word. That is a classic error.

Nothing technically wrong with this sentence, but I just wanted to give everyone a moment to appreciate the irony.

You do not get flack 'by' people; you get flack from them. This context requires a dative preposition, not an ablative one.

quote:

(side note: yes, i am aware that i did not capitalize the letter 'i' in my writings.
You also did not capitalise the letter 's'. Are you aware of that?

quote:

blame that on IRC.
Neither did you capitalise the letter 'b'.

quote:

Nor the letter 'm'.

So, mikey, your post complaining about the carelessness of others consists of ten sentences. I found errors in seven of them, by my count.

That makes you a hypocrite.

ETA: In answer to your question: if the incorrect spelling of a word on an internet forum does not inhibit communication then it matters only to pedants. Generally people are aware that pointing out errors in another's post is tactless at best and insulting at worst.

In this case I made a deliberate decision to insult you by demonstrating that you are a hypocrite. When you correct the spelling of others on the forums you do not appear to be aware that there is a decision to be made; you simply blunder in, not contributing to the discussion, to point out an error that seems to matter to nobody but you.

Yeah, like the epidemic of completed strangers going around, randomly saying "God bless you".

I'm having wheaties this evening.  Nobody peed in mine.  Yay me!

KatyLied -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/20/2010 4:51:24 AM)

Grammar/spelling nazis are for more annoying than posters who commit those fouls.

CynthiaWVirginia -> RE: Spelling errors on the forums (7/20/2010 5:58:19 AM)

mikey, I do not care how other people choose to type as long as I can make a good guess at what they are trying to say. [;)]

They are welcome to talk in third person, and even use the little "i" and biggersize any first letter for a pronoun referring to their Dom/mely state.  These are quirks that I sometimes find kinda cute.  I even got used to a friend who had to refer to herself as slut. [:D]

As for myself, I haaaaate messing up.  If I misspell, dyslex, or otherwise have a brain fart I'm like AAAAAAAAH!

I envy people who are better with spelling and punctuation than I am, but the way my brain works now I doubt I will ever improve.  As for the spell checker within this box that I type my post into...my ancient and crippled WindowsME computer cannot do the download it requires to function.  My poor baby cannot locate or talk to the site.

Personally I like to do better because I am aware of all the lurkers (I used to be one), and of the impressions we make when we post here at this site.

I hate it when I foul up.  I have read thousands of books (so okay, probably more like tens of thousands), so there is really no excuse that I cannot be...perfect...by now.

<foot stomps> [:D]

Btw, if I had a sub who was an english teacher/professor, I would force him to tutor me until I was bloody PERFECT, mwahahahaha...
