I am always amazed when people post something then put (sp?) next to it. You don't have to wonder. You are on the friggin' internet. You could check your spelling in two seconds. Why wonder?
I posted a compatibility quiz a while back. One of the questions was about body type. I used several very famous women(Paris Hilton, etc.) as examples. By each name, I posted a pic. One or two people responded, "I don't know who they are." One, there are PICTURES. Two, these are very famous people. How you could be that oblivious is beyond me. But three, you are on the INTERNET. Type in a name, and you will get more info than you could ever want. There are other examples too. You don't have to not know anything. Just look it up.

So you know I often answer posts like this just to point out how this is something that is pointless to argue.

I don't care.

If I take the time and want to make a clear and consice reply, I may thorw it in Word to get a Spell Check on it....

In the end I could give a shit less about Paris Hilton, or Perez Hilton, or The Flamingo Hilton. I could just give a shit less.

What I do give a shit about is how MUCH other people DO give a shit about such things. When someone like Chris Crocker can be reduced to tears cause people think Britney is a Walking Crack Whore.... The Point is I care about what I care about and the fact that I acknowledge that something might not be spelled right is as a courtesy not because I am too retarded to know that I can open a new window and google it.... I do it because I want YOU to know that I don't give a shit how it is spelled.

I use the (sp?) thing on occasion, when I'm too disinterested in looking a word up.

I know I mispell sometimes. I don't concern myself with it too much, as long as it's pretty clear what I'm saying. Sometimes I'll consult the dictionary, other times I can't be bothered.

No offense, but that is really not the point.  I don't really CARE about Paris Hilton, either.  But to not know who she is is to be really oblivious to popular culture.  I only used her as an example of a specific body type.  I don't know your Aunt Matilda, so I can't point to her.  But we have ALL seen US Weekly covers at the supermarket.
Not googling a word that you don't know how to spell is not retarded...but it is a little lazy.

I am absolutely the wrong person to ask.  LOL.  I'm a great resource for those things BDSM related.  Completely hideous when it comes to computer or program questions.

If I'm running Windows 7, it seems to be fine.

I'm sorry I'm not more help than that.

I never really had a problem with spelling(sp?)
It's my typing that gets me

I do know the difference.  Someone, somewhere, is sick of folks who don't take time to proof things before they hit enter, and they see it as a sign of laziness.

Fact is, spelling and typos aint all that important, and they really don't reflect laziness or stupidity.

Who is Chris Crocker?

See THAT is the kind of thing that makes me nuts. It isn't worth my time to look up, but why presume that I have CLUE who that is? (jk QSM, snark for effect only!)

I am always amazed when people post something then put (sp?) next to it. You don't have to wonder. You are on the friggin' internet. You could check your spelling in two seconds. Why wonder?  Because after all these years, I've only just discovered how to use the spell check within this posting, lol.  I have used an enormous dictionary to look up things when I was being anal retentive about getting spellings exactly right, but now with my cats who love to race across keyboards and erase everything...I often just say to heck with it.  Too much of a risk.  My ancient messed up computer doesn't like opening up new windows and likes to crash, so I rarely go to dictionary.com.  If I'm tired and doing several things at once, yes, I have put (sp?)...and will probably continue to do so.  The next person is welcome to be unobtrusively nice and use that word with the correct spelling in one of their own sentences...or try to point it out and make me feel retarded.  Pssst...that WON'T work.
I posted a compatibility quiz a while back. One of the questions was about body type. I used several very famous women (Paris Hilton, etc.) as examples. By each name, I posted a pic. One or two people responded, "I don't know who they are." One, there are PICTURES. Two, these are very famous people. How you could be that oblivious is beyond me.  Because I'm not into reading gossip about celebrities.  I've met enough clebrities real time that any glamour is gone.  I just see the rag magazines as pointless and funny...the same shiite comes up again and again, it's like they have preset stories and just substitue names.
But three, you are on the INTERNET. Type in a name, and you will get more info than you could ever want. There are other examples too. You don't have to not know anything. Just look it up.  I only look up things that interest me and only when it's convenient.  I am not ashamed to admit when I don't know something and move on.

I wrote within your quote so that I wouldn't have to make so many quote boxes as I responded.  I am only answering, and not trying to be offensive.  This is just the point of view of myself, a 46 year old female who used to live in California and saw "stars" often.

Many were vapid creatures and it was a blessing that someone else wrote all the words that came out of their mouths.  Nowadays I don't follow the career of any celebrity...except one.  He was an angel to me when I needed it, so I make it a point to buy every blessed movie of his I can to show my appreciation.  I'm talking about Alan Rickman.  (Maybe you should look him up on Google.)   I'm going to get my hands on a movie he made with Sigourney Weaver called Snow Cake for Christmas, buy myself some eggnog, and sit back and enjoy The Man's acting.

With everyone else...it's the characters portrayed that I love.  Ask me about movie characters and I'll knock your sox off, ask about actors and other celebrities and I'll go "huh???"

If you are pretty sure you can't spell a word, and you don't look it up, it is kind of lazy. A typo is different. That is accidentally hitting the wrong key.

You do not have to be INTO reading celebrity gossip to know who those people are. I couldn't care less if Lindsay Lohan moved to Mars...but I know who she is. Like her or not, she is in the news and on the covers of magazines.

Sure, you only look up stuff that interests you. But if you are taking a quiz, and an unfamiliar name comes up, you might want to. It takes no more time to that than to type that you don't know who thus and such is.
