We started using Febreeze before she came, and she commented more than once that she appreciated the 'fact' that we had stopped smoking in the house, as she couldn't smell smoke at all. That said, Febreeze has a smell of its own, so I would use it and then hang the jacket outside. Those who have said that keeping the jacket in a plastic bag is a bad idea were right on, BTW. Not only will it do nothing to improve the odor, it will encourage mold growth... not good.
