I have a friend who wears skirts and dresses.  No pockets.  She never seems to have her cell phone handy as a result.

So, for you women that wear skirts and dresses - how do you carry a cell phone?  In a purse, or are there alternatives?

I have a small outside pocket on my purse, and my phone lives there most of the time.  At work, it lives on my desk. 

It is pretty simple to add pockets to a skirt or dress as long as it has a side seam.  It's more difficult, although it can be done, to add them without a seam where you want the pocket.

I like purses with outside pockets; I keep my cell phone in the outside pocket so I can get to it quickly. If it's in my purse, I have to open my purse to get the phone, which somehow always takes longer than I wish it would. If I'm wearing a jacket or coat with pockets, the cell phone goes in a pocket.

I wouldn't put my cell phone in a skirt or dress pocket--too bulky. Even a thin phone like an iPhone would ruin the line of a nice skirt or dress.

I don't carry one most of the time. If I am at work, I am not at liberty to take personal phone calls unless there is an emergency, and then I can be reached through the company phone. If I am home, it's generally out on a desk, In the car or while I am out and about, it's usually in an interior pocket in my purse. Then again, I am considered notoriously hard to reach by phone. Most people who need to reach me are better off writing me an e-mail.

I would tell your wife to take that machine out of her breast area. Not healthy at all to be wearing your phone.

I like pockets in my clothes. Not for my phone but for my hands and little things to carry.

Usually I carry the old cell in my handbag (along with my MP3 player in a side pocket).  But then I wear pants or shorts half the time *refuses to wear dresses and skirts unless they are a certain cut*

I see that Dark Steven has started a thread called 'want to hear from women...', and *this* is what I get?!?!?

Stuff goes in my handbag when I am wearing a skirt-although I do love the masculine feeling when I'm wearing jeans/cutoffs and I can fit my wallet, keys and phone in the pockets.

Silly man.

It carries on their ear.  Because they never stop gabbing on the thing.  I mean - ladies can take 3 hours to explain 3 minutes of a situation.   So- next gen cell will be surgically attached.

oh bull.
What takes three hours is explaining the type of shoes we were wearing during said situation, where we bought them, the price. etc.

That's what handbags are for. They accessorize outfits nicely, and one can put anything one needs in them - although I don't own a cell phone. I have no need for one.

I also am sadly disappointed... I was expecting... well I don't know, but not this!

Regarding your question... Even if I have pockets, I don't use them...who wants to see bumps and bulges on a nice round tush...

I use a purse, if I miss a call, I just ring them back...it's all about checking your phone on a regular basis.

Purse or my bag that I carry other things in (like my water bottle, extra socks, contact lens stuff, tools, et cetera.)  I also have a place in my car under the temp adjuster thingie that I set it. 

Keeping it in a pocket for nice slacks, skirts, dresses, or jackets is a bad idea as it can actually ruin the contours of the item of clothing. 

There are cases and clips that she can buy to put on her belt line.  Or ask her what she almost always has handy and change that item out for a similar one that has a place for a cell phone.

i don't carry a large purse - i have a small wristlet clutch for money and credit cards, better for traveling. i also don't use pockets. i carry my phone in my hand. If i'm traveling and don't have a hand free, i zip it into the top compartment of my carry-on where i can reach it easily.

Why is this an important question? Hee hee! [:D]

I usually do not carry my cell phone. It is either, in my purse, sitting on a table or counter, or right now, the shelf under my desk. I never take it outside with me when I am gardening, mowing or riding (especially when I am riding). I have voice mail. If I miss a call and they do not leave a message.......it obviously wasn't important.

I really don't treat my cell phone much different, in this regard, as when I only had a land line. I do not NEED to be accessible at all times, no do I want to be.
