I'm not against covering folks who have conditions, I'm against calling it insurance and treating it as something entirely different.

OK what do you want to call it and how do you want it paid for?

Every Other Type of Insurance covers you for UNEXPECTED and extraordinary loss.

Only when it's Health Insurance do we expect it to cover regular expected doctor visits, and health expenses that are regular and recurring

Not so.  You can write an insurance policy for anything you want to.  Tons of
"extended waranty policies"
Medical insurance has been written for years for maintainance as have dental policies.

OK Health Warranty Contracts works fine at least it's an honest description of what's being covered.

Nope No accounting background other than the required class in college for a business minor that's a failing memory for you thompson.

Obviously I had you mixed up with someone else thus my question.

Ah the old they must be cooking the books accusation without proof.

No the court appointed proctor/auditor for the AIG scam says so.
The statistic stands unless you provide a refuting statistic of their profit margin.

The margin is the margin the accounting principles have rules for how the profit margin is calculated, unless you have some proof that the entire industry's average has been cooked by some huge accounting cabal that works for the Health Insurance Industry and cooks the entire indiustry's books, the average profit margin for the Industry stands at 4.4% for the latest quarter.

I can only suggest you read the auditors report on AIG and you  will find it all there.  That is as much of your homework I am willing to do.

I will talk to my posse and we will take care of the wording.
How do you want to pay for it?

BoiJen -> RE: Conservatives are going a little crazy with the lies (3/17/2010 3:23:56 PM)

4.4% of how much?

Archer -> RE: Conservatives are going a little crazy with the lies (3/17/2010 3:32:18 PM)

AIG is not the entire Health Insurance field thompson you;'re not even close to trying here.

The 4.4% profit margin is an industry wide average.

Cooked books in the small part of AIG that was caught in the derivatives collapse is hardly an indictment for the entire Healthcare Insurance industry.

Try again cause that was weak as hell.

This from a speech by President Roosevelt:
FOLLOWING his approval of the Social Security Act Amendments of 1939, President Roosevelt on August 11 made a public statement in which he declared the amendments to be "another tremendous step forward in providing greater security for the people of this country." The President commented specifically on the changes in the old-age insurance system, expressing his gratification that in liberalizing the provisions a reasonable relationship had been retained between wage loss sustained and benefits received. "This," he declared, "is a most important distinguishing characteristic of social insurance as contrasted with any system of flat pensions." With regard to changes in coverage of the system, the President remarked: "I am glad that the insurance benefits have been extended to cover workers in some occupations that have previously not been covered. However, workers in other occupations have been excluded. In my opinion, it is imperative that these insurance benefits be extended to workers in all occupations."

And what exactly in that statement indicates that its voluntary? And that doesnt look like a SCOTUS ruling to me, which youve claimed at least 3 times in different threads exists, but you cant come up with.

I do wonder how the hell they feel that raising an unwanted kid on social security in a trailer park is going to be less of a waste of money than just paying to get rid of the kid before it's born, in any case.
It's strange how the people who are opposed to abortion tend to be the same people who are rabidly opposed to welfare programmes as well, isn't it?

Yup just a lil ol mom and pop back yard business
Earlier, Liddy discussed the scope of AIG’s connections with the world financial system.
“We operate in more than 130 countries in jurisdictions and have approximately 74 million customers and policy holders,” he said. “We're one of the largest life insurance providers in the U.S. and in Asia. We're the world's largest property-casualty insurer, [and] we are the largest provider of retirement savings to primary and secondary school teachers and health care workers.”
AIG also has a $2 trillion financial products businesses, with more than $1 trillion of that amount concentrated with 12 major global financial institutions, Liddy said.

Pretty much why I believe the way I do. The social cost of an unwanted child is greater than the social cost of funding their abortion.

Perhaps the part that says it is insurance.
And of course the part that mentions that only a few are covered which would indicate that if it were manditory everyone would be covered

And once again you demonstrate a feeble grasp of logic. Mandatory on select groups doesnt make it voluntary. The same website you quote says very clearly that it has never been voluntary and I posted it, but you, as always, ignore facts that disagree with your asinine positions.

You might also look for a definition of "insurance" that in any way distinguishes between "voluntary" and involuntary" while youre looking for that SCOTUS ruling that doesnt exist.

The word insurance does not indicate voluntary or involuntary (I would have thought you would have known that)it indicates that it is insurance and not a tax.

No it would make it manditory on the select group and not manditory on the not select group.
Since you are in a school teaching mood why don't you tell us just who that select group were?

So you have just admitted that your quote from FDR saying it only applies to select groups doesnt make it voluntary. So wtf did you post it in support of your false claim that it is voluntary?

The select group was commercial and industrial occupations. About 1/2 the workers at the time.

So, why is it that Health Insurance is the only insurance policy that folks expect to cover a pre existing condition?

With all due respect Archer, From an outsider I can only say..."Only in America, thank god."

Thats funny, thats exactly what my partner, former Canadian, says too. His mother waited 18 months to get a knee replacement, a day before the surgery she got bumped by someone with a "more urgent need", (ie she could walk despite the pain), and it would have been another 8-12 months. He brought her here and got it done.

snoreeeee, here we go again, with the bullshit, what does a pre-existing condition have to do with wait times????????

Nothing. I didnt and still dont read "Only in America, thank god" as being limited to pre-existing conditions.

for the reading comprehensinon challanged.  It is manditory for the select group. It is not manditory for those not in the select group.

do you have a cite to validate that claim?
