Check out this story about a woman in Kansas City who throws a hissy fit at a fast food joint when they won't refund her money for a sub standard burger.

I've never understood that kinda reaction to something like that. I understand being frustrated or upset but throwing things at the employees and making a spectacle like that of yourself in public? I've never been able to wrap my brain around that sort of reaction in a person.

That's... that's just fucked up. If it bothered that badly she needed to take down the names of the cashier, the manager on duty, note the time and take her compliant further up the food chain - no pun intended. I hope she is caught. I'd hate to see her reaction to something more important than a burger.

I live in KC and this happened in the Midtown area, which is known for its crack houses and meth labs.  Independence, MO is a 30 minute drive and has the dubious distinction of being the meth capitol of the nation.  It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn she was tweaking or on crack at the time.  Of course, Midtown is also known for obnoxious denizens of African descent, so she could just be a rude bitch.  It's a 50/50 chance of either.

I live in Long Beach and have met meth heads, crack heads, coke addicts, alcoholics, Pot Heads and I even met a man that was clinically diagnosed as addicted to pain. 90% of his body was covered in Tattoos. *shrugs*

Anywho, the interesting thing in all this is it always strikes me how different people will act when sober or under the influence of one substance or another. I agree with SylvereApLeanan that I wouldn't be surprised at all to find she was under the influence of some drug or another.

Pretty fat for a tweeker or crackhead though, don't you think?  But maybe she started out enormous, because that sure looks like an episode of methamphetamine phychosis to me.

What part of that was unclear?  I'm sorry, did I use too many big words for you?

I actually reported your post because it was so offensive. Perhaps you'd like to explain what you tried to say? I do hope that I misunderstood you.

By the way, superciliousness doesn't make you look cool, especially as a follow-up to saying something like that.

"Midtown" is a polite euphemism for KC's black ghetto.  The majority of our crime -- especially the gang-related variety -- happens there, in Wyandotte County, KS (Hispanic and white ghettos), and Independence (meth central).  Sure, there are other populations in each area, but they aren't what those areas of town are known for.  Do we have wonderful, respectible people of all races here?  Absolutely; take our former mayor and current Congressman Emanuel Cleaver as an example (http://www.house.gov/cleaver/Cleaver%20Green/index.shtml).

Personally, I don't care if you're offended.  If that's the case, you're too easily offended and need to turn off your computer until you grow a thicker skin.  Alternately, you could get off your high horse and ask why a statement was made instead of taking it upon yourself to make faulty assumptions.

It was clearly racist as you chose to attach "of African descent" to your description of the obnoxious denizens. Why did you choose to do that if not to point to the fact they are black?

Own your words. It will make it easier for you to be moderated/ignored for your offensiveness.

By the way, lack of care if other people are offended is a hallmark of the racist. You don't have to mention it.

First, I owe neither you nor anyone an explanation for anything I say.  If you choose to think I'm racist for that or for not caring what random strangers on a message board think of it, that's your right.  It makes no difference to me because your opinion of me doesn't matter.  It does not affect my life in any way.

Second, the woman in question happens to be black.  The area of town is known for crime, predominantly committed by black people.  Attaching the descriptor is accurate, if unfortunate.  It doesn't reflect how I feel about black people, in general, only the common perception of that area of town.

Third, if the woman had been Caucasian and this had happened in another area, say Independence, and I said the area was known for a high population of white trash rednecks, it would be no less accurate but I'm willing to wager you wouldn't have taken offense to it.  That would be equally racist of you, but I wouldn't have been offended by it or commented on it because, again, your opinion isn't really important.

Now, if you'd like to ask how I feel about black people or people of any other race, feel free.  I'll tell you.  But I won't own a misconception that you've decided to place on me just because it will make you feel better about yourself.

Yes but Sylvere how do you know the woman even lives there? You make quite a few assumptions here.

You would have lost that bet, I would have found it offensive. Don't presume you know how I think. You're ascribing racism to me for a hypothetical situation of your own design.

You're supposed to not care what I think, remember?

No need since you're doing such a bang up job on your own., And yea just so you know.(not that you care).I also found your discription of  white trash rednecks also to be offensive.

I can't speak for others, but I will tell you that I found your initial, and terribly flippant statement, shocking.  You're realising that now, but you're finding yourself unable to go back on what you wrote, right?   Why would you dismiss others' concerns as irrelevant otherwise, if it wasn't to try and save face?

You were actually asked what you meant exactly, but you didn't deign to answer the question. Instead, you chose to make some supercilious comment about my not understanding "big words". What a load of shit.

I take it from your post above that you won't mind my saying that people who post that kind of thing are white racist bastards. It is you, after all, who is choosing to fixate your judgement on 'race', and not on individuality. And if you don't like it, then grow a thicker skin, and log off.

Good luck in the modern world.

In other words, "Obnoxious black people live there, so if that's where she lives she could just be a rude bitch." That's the most logical way to parse out that sentence. You didn't really mean it that way, did you?  You must have meant it some other way, or not realized how that sentence came across - right? I'm thinking that's got to be it.
