johndafreak -> servant or slave? (12/22/2009 5:31:56 AM)

Hey everyone,

Would you rather be a servant or a slave?  Is there a difference?

Lucienne -> RE: servant or slave? (12/22/2009 5:38:52 AM)

Servant. A certain degree of service comes very naturally to me. It is calming. I also like the opportunities for quiet observation that a service position provides.

Slavery is a very different matter and something I have no interest in or suitability to.

lally2 -> RE: servant or slave? (12/22/2009 5:50:20 AM)

i am of a submissive personality who has been happy under TPE.

for myself i make the differentiation, but others will be different im sure - that if its TPE it tends more towards enslavement. Ms - Master/slave is more TPE than Ds on the whole.

having experienced both Ds and Ms i would say i prefer to be in a Master/slave relationship.

I desire someone I am compatible with, regardless of what they may or maynot consider and call themselves

Just so that I can sound like a knowitall to my nilla friends :p
what the hell is TPE?

mnottertail -> RE: servant or slave? (12/22/2009 7:00:16 AM)

Total Power Exchange.

YMMV

 "Stimpy, you idiot!"

TPE
Now is this different than slave or is that what total means?
Also
I'm just wondering, would being a servant  give a higher more refined style of humiliation?
I would treat a servant better than a slave

Neither.

Yes.

A servant gets paid.

If you're asking the difference between a submissive and a slave, it's a contentious topic but for me at least the difference is that a submissive retains the right to have a safeword/limits/ability to say no whereas a slave is basically given the choice of "stay and obey or be willing to leave."

Not everyone associates being in an "s" position with being debased, or gets off on humiliation. I don't feel humiliated in a service position - it's a support position. If you value the activity that is being supported, there can be a sense of decency and satisfaction in supporting it.

Having said that, I'm sure there are those who are into humiliation who can comment on levels of refinement in that activity.

"""""""""""""""""""""

such a simple answer, not sure why it eluded me so.
Thanks

LadyPact -> RE: servant or slave? (12/22/2009 7:52:14 AM)

I can't answer the first question, only the second.

Someone who is in service to Me is doing that and only that.  This can cover areas such as domestic only, My personal servant during the course of an event, and situations like those in nature.  They are not involved in an authority dynamic with Me that extends any farther than their service to Me.  No sex, no S/m, or anything of that nature.

A slave, or better yet I should say My slave, is involved in a more encompassing authority dynamic that includes a defined power structure that goes beyond just personal services to Me.

Good
Thank You,  Mam.

I suddenly find myself humming "I'd rather be a hammer than a nail....yes I would...."

I'm both to the Man.  My enslavement to him includes being his servant.  Neither is humiliating for me; it's peaceful to be both to him.

No problem at all.  Just do keep in mind that the above is the way that I differentiate the two and they may mean something completely different to someone else.

DesFIP -> RE: servant or slave? (12/22/2009 9:06:03 AM)

Neither. I'm submissive. And I don't do humiliation.

i'd rather have someone i can depend on to be obedient

SubmissiveOinker -> RE: servant or slave? (12/22/2009 10:21:30 AM)

I'd rather be a pet, being the degradation aspects is what intrigues me the most as I believe its giving most of my control to another person by allowing me to submit further.

Total Power Exchange means that an s'type gives over complete control and decision making to their Dominant partner. in other words it is a total handing over of power/decisions/control to the Dominant. in that regard a slave is *probably* better suited to TPE than a submissive who is more comfortable in a dynamic if they feel they have some control over what happens to them.

in some TPE dynamics but certainly not all of them, it is possible for the slave to talk to their Dominant about something, but still the decision rests with the D as to whether something goes ahead or not.

there is no guarantee of refinement with any s'types whatever their persuasion. dont forget youre dealing with people and everyone is different.

Why would either automatically equate to humiliation?
